November 10, 2025

I know we’re barely into November, so I’m trying not to overwhelm us with holiday outfits. But the festive days and evenings will be here before we know it. Plus, the beautiful holiday style from Tuckernuck that I’m sharing today is one that you can wear for so many special occasions, not just Christmas. Let’s check out this chic one-two outfit that can take you from cocktails to dinner to the ballet and out for dessert before heading home.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

Well, I said one-two, but I’m showing off that gorgeous faux fur coat again as we head out the door for a special evening in this holiday style from Tuckernuck. Today’s blog post is not sponsored, by the way, but that coat was gifted to me from Tuckernuck for this previous blog post, in which I featured two beautiful dresses for special occasions. Isn’t it gorgeous?

faux fur coat c/o // button down shirt // velvet pants // gold slingback heels // clutch c/o // earrings c/o

The brown fur Carmella coat feels as luxe as it looks, and the weight is perfection. I’m wearing my true size medium, but it does have an oversized fit. If you know you’ll be wearing thin garments underneath, you might consider sizing down. Now, let’s see what’s underneath my coat!

I love the timeless appeal of this minimalist but elegant outfit. It’s comprised simply of black velvet ankle pants and a slightly oversized gold Noelle button down shirt. Even if you’re not shopping Tuckernuck, you could create a similar look with other chic velvet pants and an oversized button down shirt that is on the dressier side.

But oh my goodness. The Noelle is pretty special. It’s constructed in a shiny gold 98% polyester, 2% Spandex fabric with plenty of heft so that it “stands up” with a little more formality while still looking effortless. The sheen is subtle and rich, but definitely impactful. I can only imagine that it will look soft and a shimmery in candlelight.

I’m wearing my true size medium in the Noelle shirt. It features a hidden button placket and a relaxed, drop shoulder sleeve.

I sized up to a large in the black velvet ankle pants and the fit is good. These chic pants feature a hidden side zipper and hook closure. They also have a high rise and an elastic waistband. The fabric is 97% cotton and 3% Spandex, so you can move easily in them. They also come in green, merlot and a gorgeous print.

I completed the simple holiday style from Tuckernuck with gold slingback heels and a black clutch. As a nod to the season, I’m wearing dazzling green earrings, also from Tuckernuck. Thanks so much for stopping in for a little holiday style inspiration. You can shop these and other special occasion pieces from Tuckernuck in the shopping widget below. And if you enjoy shopping Tuckernuck, you may also want to check out this recent post with a lovely dress that is perfect for less elegant occasions.

Blessed for My Day

Recently I found myself in a situation where I felt my guard going up. That’s not all bad. I know I need to be wise in this particular area of life because I’ve made mistakes there before. But I also don’t want to let a jaded heart or mistrust guide my every step. Bottom line, I don’t want to have to put up walls. I’d rather the Lord guard my heart. He knows how to do that in a way that allows me to still engage, offer warmth and grace.

As I prayed through this I searched for a scripture that would guide my thoughts and prayers. I landed on Philippians 4:4-7. There I was reminded that my job is to rejoice in the Lord, be anxious for nothing and seek wisdom through prayer. That means I need to seek my soul satisfaction from God alone, allowing Him to bring me joy. I need to not fear, but instead thank the Lord for providing the wisdom I will need. And then I can trust that the peace of God will guard my heart and mind through my relationship with Jesus.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:4-7

xoxo, Kay

  1. Hmmm….sandwiches! Not a big fan of bread, so open-faced sandwiches are my choice. I like Thanksgiving-time sandwiches with turkey & a dab of cranberry sauce & some melty cheese & greens.

  2. I’m eating a little less bread lately, But, every now and then I can’t resist a piece of well toasted marble rye with a little butter and creamed honey. My perfectid morning coffee break

  3. My fav is a grilled turkey, Brie cheese, cranberry and arugula, on a ciabatta roll. Sometimes I also add apple slices, and substitute Smokey Gouda. Perfect for holiday leftovers! My fav runner up is a Philly cheesesteak😊

  4. My favorite sandwich is the quintessential Southern classic pimiento cheese. I sometimes add cream cheese and blue cheese to the cheddar cheese when making it for a different spin. Of course, the Master’s recipe is THE BEST! Hope your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  5. I love this elegant yet simple outfit! It’s just my vibe! I tried something similar a few years ago except with a champagne color satin blouse and quickly found out satin is just not for me but this actually might work.
I like a little bit of sparkle and this blouse just might do the trick without being too much for me.
Being Ukrainian I grew up on a hearty slice of fresh rye bread with a generous spreading of butter with sliced radishes on top and a sprinkle of salt. Mmmm. Simply delicious!

  6. When I want to purchase a sandwich (vs. making one), my go-to is at Jersey Mike’s. Roast Beef w/Swiss Cheese, Tomato, and Mayo, and a little salt & pepper! YUM!

  7. Good morning Kay! I love sandwiches as well! My favorite is warm pastrami sandwich with melted Swiss cheese and sauerkraut on toasted rye!

  8. Your holiday outfit from Tuckernuck is stunning and looks just beautiful on you! Like you, I am fond of a classic minimalistic look, especially for a dressy outfit.
Ah, sandwiches! I do love Cheesecake Factory’s Veggie Burger Melt. It’s a snowy day here in Rochester, New York (I’m sure we’ll have many more!) and it sounds like just
the dish to hit the spot.
Glad you and James are enjoying each other’s company again!

  9. Kay, you always look lovely and I look forward to your daily posts and Bible verses. I very much like the simplicity of the Tuckernut outfit. The gold pumps dress it up so nicely. Here is my problem: I have a “drop foot” and really can only wear sneakers with laces. I find it so hard to dress an outfit with sneakers! I appreciate and have taken your “low profile sneaker” advice. I’m still looking for that nice, dressy sneaker. Ha! Laces are necessary for the appliance I wear to raise my foot. I really would go for that green dress, but again….sneakers? Probably not – also I am 5’1″.

    1. Ahh, I know that does feel like a huge dilemma. But you know, I’ve seen women, especially when I was in London, wearing beautiful dresses and suits with sneakers. NOW really is the time to lean into that trend…for everyone. But in your case especially, I’d take advantage of this time and enjoy dressing up a bit with nice sneakers. I think you do want to wear the most on trend sneakers you possible can, but it sounds like you’re already doing that. So let that be your signature style and have fun with it. And since sneakers are so on trend right now, it’s a good time to find some in metallic, animal prints, fun colors. I’d just go for it!

    2. I belong to an organization that has formal-ish dress for most meetings. It appalls me to see some of the women in sparkly or chiffon gowns wearing their bulky everyday sneakers. Please follow Kay’s advice and find something that shines and is low profile, and only wear them when dressed up. It is an absolutely acceptable look if it feels purposeful and planned. And you go Girl. protect those tootsies.

      1. I understand your suggestion to wear sparkly low profile sneakers with dressy clothes, but some women (me) have difficult situations with our feet and struggle to find options that fit our orthotics, accommodate bunions, or handle feet that require 2 different widths/ lengths. It’s a challenge!

  10. Well mostly I am not a sandwhich girl but this summer on our family vacation I had the most adult version grilled cheese & oh my was it good!

  11. Pastrami and Swiss on rye is one of my favorites. I liked your devotional today, because God has been working on me in this area, too.

  12. Thank you for consistently providing great style inspiration! I love a grilled cheese (and tomato soup, of course!) as well as a turkey and swiss cheese sandwich on toasted bread!

  13. Favorite sandwich is sliced lunchmeat (ham, salami), slice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard and maybe a pickle or two 🙂

  14. Thank you for your inspiration!
My favorite sandwich is turkey on rye with lettuce, tomato, avocado, aioli, and black pepper.
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  15. I like taking a picked from the vine tomato, and Duke’s mayo with a sprinkle of Msalt on a crusty Italian bread to make a tasty sandwich.

    1. Congratulations, Marcia! You were randomly selected to win a $25 gift card to a favorite restaurant. I’ll send you an email, too. Thanks so much for commenting and sharing your favorite sandwich with us on National Sandwich Day. I think your sandwich sounds wonderful.

  16. Just made these sandwiches yesterday for a wonderful fall hike/picnic and they were a hit!
Brie/Apple/Chicken sandwiches on nutty toasted bread. I toast the bread first – spread a very thin layer of mustard and mayo/cranberry and add the chicken (typically from a rotisserie chicken), very thin slices of apple and then the brie. Put it together and let cool before wrapping.

  17. Hi Kay! Enjoy your time in West TX. It’s COLD here in the northeast today! I love Tuckernuck and bought my favorite straw hat from them years ago! I like those black velvet pants. As for sandwiches, I love a grilled Reuben with extra sauerkraut!

  18. A Subway 6″ multigrain veggie. I can add all the veggies I want, add a little ranch dressing and I am happy and healthier:)

  19. My favorite sandwich is a grouper sandwich. I live in SW Florida and we have delicious fresh fish. Grouper is my favorite local fish.

    1. We vacation on the Gulf Coast every summer and I LOVE a grouper sandwich! Especially Buffalo grouper! YUM! It’s not something I can get at home in TN!

  20. My favorite sandwich is a Cuban sandwich. The sandwich features crusty Cuban bread and it is filled with a dab of mustard on the bread and a couple of dill pickle chips, freshly carved sweet ham slices, sliced roast pork and Swiss cheese. This beauty is then pressed to perfection, cut in half and is served warm and deliciously crunchy. Delish! Great outfit today, Kay! Thank you.

  21. Welcome back to Texas! Cold this morning and near 80 by tomorrow! James was close to us this week! My favorite sandwich is the Smoky Pepper Jack Turkey at McAlister’s. The faux fur coat is gorgeous and I’m sure you will get good use out of it in Cincy.

  22. My all time favorite is BLT made with ready to serve bacon, scrambled egg and poppyseed salad dressing. Yum any time.

  23. I love that gold blouse! 🙂 Great BFMD. Favorite sandwich (though I seldom eat sandwiches): jambon beurre.

  24. Hi Kay,
I love a good sandwich too. My current favorite is the “sloppy joe” – turkey, roast beef, cole slaw, & Russian dressing on rye bread.

Thanks for sharing this holiday outfit; the formula fits my needs perfectly. On Christmas Eve I go from our fairly casual family gathering directly to church. So while I might not go super elegant, a silky blouse or velvet pants would be just festive touch I’m looking for.

    Thanks for all you do!
    Mary Beth

  25. I love a Reuben sandwich! My late mother told me to eat one on New Year’s Day. She read somewhere that corned beef will bring you good luck, so I have one every January 1 in her honor.

  26. Ah, favorite sandwiches…. Panera has a Mediterranean veggie on a ciabatta, lettuce, tomato, red onion, Kalamata olives, hummus…its a Grek salad in a sandwich. Sometimes if I’m particularly hungry I will have chicken added. Its a great sandwich that satisfies without leaving you to feel stuffed (or guilty).
Liking that look you showed today but I think I would pump it up a bit with a signature piece of jewelry. Maybe a chunky gemstone necklace laying on the collar bone.
And its never too early to plan for the Holidays. My calendar is already filling up.

  27. Lovely outfit!! I like grilled pimento cheese sandwiches.nit is a form of grilled cheese just a little different. Goes well with soup. Thanks for your fashion ideas. Blessings, Kaye from Salem, VA

  28. Hi, Kay, enjoy your time with family in west Texas, the big A! My favorite sandwich, which I don’t eat very often, is a turkey Reuben, on grilled rye, with coleslaw and Russian dressing! Your verse citation in Philippians is my favorite passage…it is typed and in a frame, sitting on my kitchen window sill, a reminder to let my requests be known to God, with thanksgiving, and to trust in His peace.

  29. I LOVE this outfit. Very simple but elegant. I could never pull off that coat, as I never dress up that fancy. Its very casual where I live. You look great in it. As for my favorite sandwich, I rarely eat sandwiches due to my multiple allergies, but if I could dream of my old favorite, it would be a grilled Reuben sandwich. Enjoy your trip. May I ask why you haven’t hosted Christmas for so long? Does your kids or parents just do it? This is my first year off for along time. My daughters are hosting both Thanksgiving and Christmas and I’m really looking forward to the year off. We will be traveling 3 hrs. then almost 5 hrs. so not bad at all, but the 5 hrs. is over a snowy Mt. so hoping for good weather to travel.

    1. Well, we’ve hosted Christmas in recent years, but it would just be one set of kids or the other. And other times we were at my daughter’s because she’d just had a baby or at my parents’ home. This will be the first year in a while that we will have both sets of kids come to our home.

  30. I recently had a French dip sandwich at Panera Bread that was yummy. Also I am always happy to order a Ruben sandwich.

  31. The new French dip at panera is yummy. Although gh I confess, nothing holds a candle to the one from my college waitressing days that was made from the previous night’s leftover prime rib. Scrumptious!!

That faux fur coat is looks incredibly luxurious! 💗

  32. So many sandwiches. Sausage and pepper sandwiches on Italian bread. White House Subs in Atlantic City – ham and provolone with lettuce, tomato, onion and roasted peppers on a sub roll. Best ever.

  33. I love a delicious, buttery grilled cheese sandwich made with Gouda, Mild Cheddar, and Pepper Jack. Yummy! I enjoy pairing it with a bowl of tomato soup. That’s good for the soul.

  34. My favorite sandwich is a warm teriyaki chicken breast with melted provalone cheese slice and roastwd red pepoer strips, served on a buttered grilled bun.

  35. Hello Kay!
We copy a sandwich from a local shop. It was voted Best Sandwich in Delaware! Turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce on a hoagie roll. The best!

  36. Hi Kay!

I so love your blog posts, especially the inclusion of Scripture!

My favorite sandwich, above all, bar-none, is a nice warm Reuben on dark, marbled rye, lightly toasted in the skillet, oozing sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing and cheese, with warm, fork-tender corned beef. Oh, my mouth is literally watering!

    Joy

  37. What a lovely silk blouse! I try and grab at least one long sleeve in the fall. Thus one is gorgeous! I bet James was just as happy as you were to meet back up with you! My favorite is a Monte Cristo!

  38. Kay, the black velvet pants are beautiful. Find us a pair that is pull on and I’m in! Favorite Sandwich? If I’m eating anything – a Reuben. If I’m watching the calories, a Turkey lettuce wrap!

  39. Kay, I love the simplicity of the gold blouse with black velvet pants for a holiday party, or actually for any “elevated casual” gathering. Thank you for getting my thoughts ordered in that direction for the very fast-approaching holidays! I tend to worry all about the food I’ll serve to guests or bring to a potluck. Your style suggestions help me put the clothing plan on the EES side of my closet. (Easy Elegant Style)
BTW, my favorite sandwich of all time is a Reuben. It’s not really a holiday thing, but when I want a comfort food that’s my go-to.

  40. This outfit is lovely. Your choice of lipstick suits you so well and is so appropriate for this dressy outfit. Being gluten free, it is tough to find a sandwich in a restaurant. But we have found a carry-out only place a ways away that has gluten free bread. They have the BEST corned beef, so we get the #3 — corned beef, coleslaw, swiss cheese, russian dressing, lightly toasted. It melts in the mouth! What a treat!

  41. My favorited sandwich, which was served to me today, is a roast beef chipotle grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil soup. What a coincidental treat for me on National Sandwich Day. Even more fun was sharing this sandwich with a friend.

Thank you for the BFMD. And the DFMD outfit is lovely and easy. I can see this combination at a holiday party in my area.

  42. I love a good Reuben sandwich with a side of coleslaw. I’m thinking that coat would be really fun to wear when I’m heading out to enjoy one at The Crooked Pint!

  43. My absolute favorite sandwich is the day after Thanksgiving sandwich. Turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce (yes, it must be the jellied sauce from a can) on white bread with mayonnaise. It’s my most favorite thing about the holiday meal! I can barely wait each year till Friday to enjoy the sandwich (which I sometimes enjoy for breakfast!)

  44. My favorite sandwich is a Reuben sandwich. It was invented by a chef at the Blackstone Hotel in my hometown of Omaha Nebraska. The Blackstone Hotel was 3 blocks from the home I grew up in. I remember my mom and I used to go to eat lunch there now and then. They also had the best French pastry!

  45. I love this outfit! Sometimes things that shimmer look cheap but this shirt is the perfect amount of shimmer! The green velvet in those pants is gorgeous! I am really loving all the greens this fall and winter. So many beautiful shades and tones rather than the traditional Christmas green or forest green. This outfit reminds me of Martha Stewart’s holiday looks – just timeless elegance.
I almost forgot the sandwich! Ha! I like a grilled turkey and cheese. Any bread, any cheese, any turkey; I like all the combos!
And no, it’s not too soon to start with holiday looks! I need the prompt so I’m not scrambling at the last minute!

  46. What a beautiful lux look! Simple but classy. Thank You for the scripture, I needed that today.
My favourite sandwich is a hot sandwich as well. I love to elevate my grilled cheese by putting thinly sliced tomatoes and a sprinkle of some Italian spices and a few olives on the side. Thank you Mrs Kay.

  47. I use to love sandwiches but sadley I developed Celiac and it’s just not the same with gluten free bread. But enjoy while you can!

  48. My favorite sandwich is from the Buffalo, New York area where I am from but have not lived in 30-some years. It is a royal with oil; beautiful Italian sausage patties with capicola (hot Italian ham) and some lettuce, tomato, and onion topped off with a good olive oil and wonderful bread, which is a western New York thing or probably a New York thing altogether! I really miss this option here in Wisconsin! It was also my mom‘s favorite sandwich so there is some sentimentality when I get my hands on one!

  49. 🍁🍂
Mmm … YUM YUM YUM …
Freddy’s (Colorado) two steak burger patties with Swiss cheese + grilled onions on rye bread. THE BEST❣❣
    🍁🍂
Would ‘LoveLoveLove’ to see a few of James’ (East Texas Caddo) pics❣❣

    Lovely/Classy Tuckernuck Stylin’ Day❣❣

  50. Can’t beat a BLT, especially when the tomatoes are from your own garden….at our house we feast on this sandwich delight all summer…
