November 8, 2025

I recently stopped in at the mall to select a new pair of glasses and I had just a few minutes to check in at J.Jill. They were putting out their new Holiday Collection and I was able to try on several things. Quite impressed with what I tried, I snapped a few mirror selfies to share with you. Then I came home and browsed the website to find other favorites that hadn’t been available in the store. Let me show you what I found in my November try-on session at J.Jill!

November Try-On Session at J.Jill

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

As per the usual with these fitting room diaries, I’m not necessarily styling things exactly as I would if I were to wear them. Throughout the shots, I’m wearing my black Vince booties and these hoop earrings. The lighting is horrible, so let’s just focus on the clothes. I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds. I usually wear a size 10 or mediums. I have an hourglass shape and even proportions. Ok, enough of that. Let’s check out the things I tried on at J.Jill.

Ivory Sweater & Satin Pants

You can usually count on J.Jill for subtle but festive holiday collections. I like the soft combination of these grey cloud wide leg satin pants and this camel heather classic Fair Isle sweater. The coloring on both items looks more like that on the J.Jill website. Like I mentioned the lighting was not great in the fitting room. (Is it ever???)

sweater (sized down to small) // wide leg satin pants (wearing TTS medium)

I usually size down to a small in tops at J.Jill, and that’s what I did here. The small fit well. I am almost always between sizes in pants at J.Jill. I’m wearing my usual medium here, but they are a little roomier than I would like. They didn’t have the small in store, but I have a feeling they would have been a little snug across the hips. That said, if pants fit you well at J.Jill, I’d go with my usual fit. Both items are soft and beautiful, and I could see wearing them multiple ways through the holidays and beyond.

Collared Bouclé Cardi & Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans

I would have loved to have tried on this collared boucle cardigan with the silky A-line midi skirt that they show it with on the website. Unfortunately they didn’t have it in store. But the sweater is dreamy and I’m planning to order either this dark cranberry one or the flint heather color. I’m wearing a small for the perfect fit.

collared cardigan (sized down to small) // jeans (TTS; misses 10) (also in curvy fit)

Surprisingly these patch pocket wide-leg jeans fit very nicely true to size; I’m wearing my usual 10. I like the relaxed straight legs and the chunky, emphasized hemline for a casual vibe. They’re quite comfortable and I’m thinking of ordering these, too. My only concern is that they are more of a mid rise than a high rise, which I prefer. But many of my readers may actually prefer this “below waistline” rise. The jeans are also available in a curvy fit and both come in regular, petite and tall.

Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans & Denim Button-Front Shirt

denim shirt (sized down to small) // jeans (TTS; misses 10) (also in curvy fit)

I mainly took this denim button-front shirt to the fitting room to try on with the jacket you’ll see next. But I ended up really liking the fit and look of the casual 100% cotton shirt. I did size down to a small. As you can see I didn’t even bother buttoning the cuffs, but I know they would button easily. I’m mostly impressed that the shirt isn’t especially long. In the past, one of my few beefs with J.Jill has been that almost all of their tops are too long for modern standards and good proportions. But they do seem to have shortened many of them in recent collections.

Faux Suede & Sherpa Jacket

denim shirt (sized down to small) // sherpa jacket (sized down to small) // jeans (TTS; misses 10) (also in curvy fit)

And the final item I had the opportunity to try was the faux suede and sherpa jacket. I’d seen it hanging in the store before and had given it the touch and feel test. Ha! I knew it felt luxe and looked beautiful on the hanger. Well it feels even more elevated and ultra soft on. This is a great jacket, sporty and casual, but also modern and chic. It has a pleasantly heavy drape, but isn’t overly warm. I kind of wish I had this one to take with me to Texas tomorrow. Hmm. I’m wearing a small for a good fit.

I wish I’d had time to try on more, but hopefully this little taste has given you an idea of the quality and fit of the collection. I’ve gathered more of my favorites from the J.Jill Holiday Collection below. Or you can head straight to the collection on their website here. Thanks for stopping in!

Blessed for My Day

We like to make excuses for our shortcomings and mistakes, don’t we? It’s human to blame someone else or point to our circumstances when we do things that we know are not right. But the truth is, we have personal choices. No one else makes us walk the path we take. We might like to blame our upbringing or the crowd we run with. We could say we are the way we are because we’re just fitting in. But in fact, while those things may influence us, they do not have the final say.

Every day, in a million little ways, we have the opportunity to choose who we will be. And I’ve found that truly the all of those myriad choices begin with the most important one: who will we serve? If we choose to serve self or the idols of this land, we will live one way. But if we choose to serve the Lord, our feet will head down a different path altogether. Whom will you serve today?

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. ~ Joshua 24:15

  1. I seem to be gravitating more than ever towards J.Jill lately. I am loving the fit, the style and the comfort of their clothes. I have always liked J. Jill, but now I’m buying from them almost exclusively. I love their new fall line. The colors are awesome.

  2. Happy to see you feature J. Jill. More recently I find their styles more appealing for my lifestyle and age (73) than Chicos and Talbots. I buy from all three but J. Jill is my favorite. I do not live near any of those stores and have to order online. I am a similar size to you. I appreciate all the size options at J. Jill. Thanks and enjoy your trip to Texas. Fingers crossed on air travel.

  3. Good morning and WELCOME to Texas!! I’m from South Texas and we are so ready for some cooler weather! Supposed to get some later tonight! Yay! Never lasts too long, though! Have a safe flight! As always, loving your posts:)

  4. Love the sweaters you modeled. I have not shopped at J Jill for a while, but like you I size down to a small. Have fun in Texas with James.

  5. Hi! I agree with others who have commented here that JJill has been my retailer of choice this year over Talbots. And I am a very loyal Talbots customer, especially for work wear. JJill seems to have overhauled their fit in their tops and bottoms this year. Everything is less boxy or square, and more darts, pleats, princess seams, etc that lend to actual fit. JJill has helped round out my wardrobe for my non-work life. I enjoy having an ‘outfit’ that is polished and refined and feeling put together but not fussy on my days off, and JJill has helped a lot with that for me this year. Thanks for the post. Have a lovely weekend!

    1. Thanks so much for sharing Julie. It did seem to me that things had changed as far as silhouette and length, too. I didn’t know if I was just imagining it or if it was just the few pieces I was able to try in my short session. so thanks so much for weighing in. I’ll have to feature J.Jill more. It looks like a lot of readers enjoy it.

  6. I have come to really like J Jill “wearever” pants. They are really nice for me for work. It helps so much that they come in petites – saves having to pay for tailoring. I love that sherpa jacket, but have no use for it where I live. Bummer!

  7. Kay, loved the clothes you showed. Now that jacket. We were just in San Antonio and it was hot. I know Texas isbig, so maybe you’re in a cool spot. And I do know they’re expecting some polar air this week. Have fun!

    1. Ahh, I didn’t have time to go back and get it. I’m just wearing a quilted vest in Texas. But I have tees and sweaters to layer underneath as needed. Thanks!

  8. Ummm??? I’m so tempted to try the denim. I’ve wanted this style for awhile now. Love the patch pockets and higher hem stitch. I wonder how they hold up for bagging out. I need the petite length for sure and usually wear size 4.

  9. I bought a VERY similar faux suede/sherpa jacket about 3 years ago. It was just a gift to myself on a whim because I was adding a few (what I considered) western pieces. I love the Ralph Lauren aesthetic those pieces give me. I didn’t think it was going to end up being my MOST worn jacket! I bought it from a catalog a clothing company regularly sends me. I’ve bought great stuff from them. And the best part? The jacket was under $100! It’s warm, looks like the real deal and goes with just about any of my casual (elevated) outfits. I’m so glad I have it in my jacket/coat wardrobe. WAY nicer than a puffy coat and keeps me just as warm.
