Yay! The holiday season is officially here. And I’m ready to roll out the holly. I’ve been sharing festive special occasion outfits for several weeks now, but many of my readers tell me that most of your holiday festivities are casual and you actually prefer to wear jeans for these gatherings and events. I hear ya! In fact, I’m right there with you…in my favorite denim. So today I’ve got four festive jeans looks that are flattering and comfortable, but also polished to perfection for the holidays.

I’m teaming up with Talbots to share these festive jeans looks just in time for their amazing Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals. Today you’ll get 50% off sitewide at Talbots ONLINE ONLY, and they’ve thrown in FREE shipping, too. Woohoo! This is definitely the day to shop.

All four of my festive jeans looks feature my new favorite denim from the brand: their barely boot jeans in the Sutton wash. I’m wearing the misses size 10, which is my usual size, for a very comfortable, slightly roomy fit. But hey, one of the most important denim trends to heed right now is that we’re wearing our jeans a little looser than in the past, so I suggest going with your usual size.
A Festive Jeans Look to See the Holiday Lights

I created this first outfit for a festive evening out to see the holiday lights. Whether you’re driving through neighborhoods, strolling downtown or walking through a bedazzled zoo or botanical gardens to see the colorful light displays, you’ll look dressed for the occasion in this sweet tee featuring beautifully lit Christmas trees and pearl embellishment stars.

Unfortunately this tee seems to be sold out, but this crewneck pullover will give you the same effect. And Talbots has lots of other fun tees for the season, too, like this one with a festive dog and this one embroidered with holly.

To head out into the night, top the jeans and t-shirt combo with your own bursts of color. This sugarplum tweed coat will keep you toasty warm, but it’s also cheerful and bold. I love having a real outfit completer like this in my coat closet because it turns simple jeans combos into colorful, stylish outfits.
A Chic Jeans Look for Dinner with the Gals

While I enjoy the occasional full blown party, most of my holiday celebrations are dinners at lively restaurants with friends in good spirits. I’ve noticed that most of my friends wear the same outfit formula for these gatherings: great jeans + pretty sweater + booties + coat. I’ve worked that equation with a double pop of red on top!

Doubling up the color of your sweater and coat or jacket will always give you a powerful punch. During the holidays, you’ll look bright and festive in the color of your choice using this formula. But I always enjoy a multiplied dose of red.

The double face wool blend coat is so chic and a little elegant. It will dress up your jeans outfit, but you’ll still feel comfortable and casual. The unlined coat has a lovely drape and fits true to size. It’s available in petite and plus sizes, too. (I love that Talbots is so size inclusive!)

I chose this particular plush crewneck sweater because you’ll shine bright at your table of friends in this soft red fabric. And you won’t even need to add a necklace since the bedazzled buttons will twinkle in the candlelight. The sweater, which runs true to size, also comes in a lovely ivory for an equally stunning option.

Add the colorful holiday wreath brooch shown below to your lapel. But wrap one up to take to the gift exchange, too. Talbots always has such a fun and festive collection of these pins at the holidays, and I enjoy giving them and receiving them. You can see more of mine from previous years in the YouTube video below.

Add another elevated touch to your festive jeans look with a metallic bag. This leather croc embossed bag is perfect for holiday gatherings and events, but you can carry it into the new year, too.
A Festive Jeans Look for Baking Cookies
Whether you’re helping your grandchildren construct gingerbread houses or baking sugar cookies with a dear friend, you’ll feel comfortable but suitably cheerful in a holiday tee and jeans.

No one wants to overheat in a busy kitchen, but there’s no need to settle for a boring old t-shirt either. Instead bring the joy to the tasks at hand by showing up in this 100% cotton JOY stripe crewneck tee. It fits true to size for a slim fit.

I think this combo is so suitable for baking cookies because the striped tee serves as the perfect backdrop for whatever apron you wear. Don’t forget to take photos! You’ll be so glad you wore this tee when you see yourself in the picture.

I’ve added a cheerful red down puffer vest with optional faux fur collar for coming and going. It features side on seam pockets and an easy zip closure. I’m wearing my usual medium.
A Comfortable Jeans Look for a Family Gathering
When you gather with your family to celebrate the holidays, you can count on some downtime. Sure, your gang may dress up for the big meal. But there’s always game night, Christmas movie fests, candy making sessions and jigsaw puzzle time.

These are the times you want to look joyful and pretty, but also feel especially comfortable and even cozy. You might be tempted to switch into old sweat pants, but you won’t need to if you’re wearing these barely boot jeans. Honestly, from the moment I put them on they felt like I’d loved them for years. Denim perfection!

Add a cozy fleece mockneck pullover in the pop of color of your choice (they come in seven!) for the perfect at-home combination. If you need to make a vanilla run (I always run out at the worst time!) or pick up last minute stocking stuffers, throw on a metallic quilted vest and go. Your festive jeans look will still be flattering and comfortable.

Look, we do the holidays pretty casual around here, too. But I still like to add to the celebration by showing up looking my best in something colorful and cheerful. I hope these four festive jeans looks have provided you with a little style inspiration for your casual holiday celebrations, too.
You can shop the looks above through the links in the photo captions. But I’ve also gathered the items shown plus a few more favorites in the shopping widget below. Thanks for dropping in.

Blessed for My Day
At this time of year many of us will have the opportunity to enjoy gathering with family. That is definitely a blessing, but it can also be a little tricky. We don’t always see eye to eye with our flesh and blood, do we? But let’s remember that the family is God’s creation and it operates has His primary testing a ground for our discipleship. As we grow in Christlikeness, we are expected to display the fruit of His Spirit, especially in our interactions with family.
This holiday season I’m praying for love to prevail in my family. But I’m also praying for God to grant me wisdom as I navigate the special nuances that come with each relationship. I want to speak wisely, respond with grace, use good timing, listen more intently, keep an open heart and show God’s character in each interchange. I have the opportunity to tear down my family or build it up with wisdom and understanding. So I’m praying for and seeking God’s perspective each morning.
By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; ~ Proverbs 24:3

Thank you. I love wearing red.
Yes, these are the kind of clothes I really wear the most! Have to have some special items, but jeans are the workhorse of my wardrobe.
Me, too, Mary Jean. Thanks so much for sharing.
