Next week I’m probably wrapping up my holiday outfit posts with some festive jeans looks. But I’ve continued to get in non-denim selections from some of your favorite retailers that are perfect for this time of year, whether you’re attending a holiday party or not. Yes, I like to wear velvet pants, holiday plaids and metallics even when I’m not going to a party during the holiday weeks. It just keeps everything more festive! So today I’m sharing a holiday styles try-on session with great prices from some of your favorite stores.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

Holiday Styles Try-On Session

We’ll start with a sharp look from Ann Taylor, where you can already get 50% off everything. And today only they’re giving you 70% off all markdowns.

jacket c/o // similar black tank top // plaid pants c/o // sling back heels c/o // purse not available // belt // necklace c/o (use code kayh20 for 20% off) // earrings c/o (use code kayh20 for 20% off)

By the way, each outfit I’ve put together her is comprised of the featured products from the store I’m calling out as well as additional items that are available from other sources. Just click through the links under the photo to get more information and shop.

This black mixed media jacket is so sharp. Of course you can wear it beyond the holidays, and it can be worn buttoned up alone as well. It fits true to size and is available in petite sizes, too. The faux leather and knit combination feel comfortable and looks chic.

Unfortunately I’ve waited until almost too late to share the plaid pants. They’re selling out fast in the misses sizes, but are a little better stocked in petites. The sling back heels have a brogue detail and will look smart with other slacks and skirts. They fit true to size.

Next I have a couple of fun outfits predominantly from J.Crew Factory, where they’re having a Black Friday Head Start. You’ll find great deals starting at $19.95 for the whole family.

ruffle button up top // velvet pants // mules c/o (25% off with code BLACK-FRIDAY) // belt // bag // earrings c/o (use code kayh20 for 20% off)

This ruffle button up top is 40% off and still available in most sizes. It is a tailored fit, but does run true to size. The top also comes in petite sizes. It will look smart alone or under sweaters and jackets.

The velvet pants are 50% off and still available in a full range of sizes in classic, petite and tall fits. They have a little bit of stretch in them and feature a straight leg. They come in two other colors. I’m wearing my usual size classic 10 for a nice fit. My only problem with them is that they are more of a mid rise, which some women may prefer, whereas I like a high rise.

By the way, my beautiful Italian leather Scarosso mules are 25% off with code BLACK-FRIDAY. They are exquisite. But they do run small. Use their size guide, but consider sizing up from there.

Christmas sweater c/o // ruffle button up top // velvet pants // mules c/o (25% off with code BLACK-FRIDAY) // belt // bag // earrings c/o (use code kayh20 for 20% off)

Above I’m wearing the same outfit, but I’ve added a pretty Christmas sweater in combed cotton from Lands’ End. They’re already offering 50% off sitewide plus FREE shipping on orders of $50+ with code CHILL.

The jacquard crewneck sweater is a nice option to wear alone if you live in a warmer climate because it’s a lovely combed cotton. It runs true to size and comes in regular and plus sizes.

plaid button up // blue velvet wide leg pants // boots c/o (up to 20% off right now!) // belt c/o (30% off with code SHOP30) // earrings c/o (use code kayh20 for 20% off)

And finally I have one more look from J.Crew Factory. I love these bright blue velvet wide leg pants. They still have a lower rise than I prefer, but if you like a mid rise, these are a great pant for you. They come in berry sangria and black, too. The blue velvet wide leg pants run true to size, come in petites and tall, and are marked down 42% right now. By the way, the belt I’m wearing above is a good one and it’s 30% off with code SHOP30. Use their size guides for the best fit.

For a somewhat tonal look, I’ve topped the blue velvet pants with an equally cheerful plaid button up, which is 45% off and still available in most sizes, including petites. You can get this same plaid button up in other colors and patterns, too.

red sweater // plaid button up // blue velvet wide leg pants // boots c/o (up to 20% off right now!) // earrings c/o (use code kayh20 for 20% off)

And above I’ve gone full color by topping the outfit with a red 100% cotton crewneck sweater. It also comes in some nice neutrals. This is a slightly chunkier cotton knit, but it does run true to size.

This probably isn’t my favorite way to style the red sweater, but I wanted to show it to you so I popped it on! What do you think? Here’s a shopping widget with the items I’ve featured today. But you can shop additional items through the captions of the photos, too. Thanks for stopping in for a little style inspiration. I hope you have a great day!

Be sure to check out my Black Friday Cyber Monday shopping headquarters. I’ve curated a listing of the best sells and deals from the brands you love and I recommend. I’ve taken out the overwhelm and provided the details you’ll need to shop smart.

Blessed for My Day

This morning I listened to a sweet three-minute devotional that left me thinking. It suggested that we often couch our thanksgiving with qualifiers. “Thank You, Lord, for my home, but I sure could use some new furniture.” “Thank You, Lord, for our precious family, but I do hope we all manage to get along over Thanksgiving.” or “Thank You, Lord, for my daughter’s new job, but since she’s single it would have been nice if it came with benefits.”

The devotional suggested that we express our gratitude with more childlike enthusiasm by shortening them to just one word. “Home!” “Family!” “Provision!” I’m trying that approach today. I find that it puts a smile on my face and a little more enthusiasm in my thanksgiving. But it also forces me to stop whining and simply be grateful. The Lord is good and He knows my needs better than I do.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. ~ Colossians 3:17

xoxo, Kay

  1. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Kay Abd to all of your family, near and far! We will be with all of ours at my daughter’s house. Her multi talented husband is cooking! (So yes, I’m cooking too and toting it over there! ) enjoy this wonderful season!

  2. Hi! I actually enjoyed the red sweater paired with the blue plaid shirt. It’s a fun twist on Christmas red without green distracting it for attention. Plus, I can see this combination with a denim skirt and boots to keep it warm.

    1. Ahh, I hadn’t thought about that. Yes, I think you’re onto something with the red and blue combo. Thanks for chiming in.
