Welcome to Dressed for My Day! I’ve been shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I’ve found some great buys. But I know many of my readers have become frustrated with how many things have sold out so quickly this year. Indeed, I feel like items sold out faster than in previous years, but maybe that’s just perception. At any rate, the TRUTH IS most of my absolute favorite #Nsale Finds are still IN STOCK. Yes, they really are.

Kay's Top Picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

Granted, this pre-fall sale moves fast. So things may have changed since I wrote this blog post late Sunday afternoon, July 14th. But I’ve actually gone through every product I’m featuring to make sure that it is available in at least most sizes on the website. And I’ve checked an inventory spreadsheet provided to me by Nordstrom on Friday to see what the availability was at that point, too, trying to ensure that inventory was high enough to recommend safely.

I know how frustrating it is to build your wish list only to have it deeply depleted as the sale progresses before you can even hop in there and make your purchases. I shopped the sale for several years before getting a Nordstrom credit card, so I’ve been there. That said, I always encourage my readers to graciously remember that this sale, like many friends & family sales hosted by favorite retailers, was originally birthed as a way for Nordstrom to thank their most loyal customers. So it only makes sense that those who annually spend the most through a store credit card would get to shop before others. It’s not a ploy to discriminate; it’s a an appreciation perk, plain and simple.

The Nordstrom marled knit blazer, Allsaints Stevie cropped t-shirt, and Mother the Hustler frayed ankle jeans have all sold out, BUT I saw all three available again Sunday morning in limited sizes. So keep watching as returns come in! (also shown: BL Icon diamond pendant necklace // Unity platform sneaker // Kate Spade NY large Carlyle leather tote are still in stock at the moment)

It’s true, Nordstrom will not restock items that are sold out. But many of the items will be replenished a little bit as returns come in. Already I’ve seen several items show back up in limited sizes that just yesterday were completely sold out. So KEEP WATCHING the items in YOUR WISH LIST.

My Favorite Purchases are Still Available

But guess what? While I know many great deals are already sold out, most of my very favorite purchases are still available to you. I’ve included on items I actually purchased, love and highly recommend on the graphic below.

Kay's Favorite Purchases
Clockwise from top left corner: Vince Baja pointelle sweater // outfit: Faherty Portia top, Faherty drawstring pants, Nordstrom crewneck cashmere sweater, Paul Green Unity platform sneakers, Coach handbag (only in chalk right now) // Bony Levy BL Icon Pendant necklace // Zella cloud fleece sweatshirt // Vince slim silk blouse // NYDJ Baily relaxed ankle straight leg jeans // Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash // Paul Green Vienna Chelsea boot

I’m not just sharing the items above because they’re still available. I’m sharing them here because I really LOVE them. In fact, a few of them were big surprises to me. I hadn’t even noticed the Faherty Portia top or drawstring pants (shown below) in the online preview. But these elevated casual pieces will work beautifully in my early fall wardrobe.

And I love the Paul Green platform sneakers so much I ended up buying a second pair in the store Tuesday. I’d ordered the white to replace mine that I got four years ago, but I love the trio of textures on the sand biscuit combo and couldn’t resist getting those, too. They’re an investment, but you will NEVER regret ordering a pair of Paul Green shoes. They’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put on my feet. I also purchased their Vienna Chelsea boots and Vanessa block heel booties and love both.

NYDJ Bailey ankle jeans // Paul Green platform sneakers

Honestly, I’d purchased the NYDJ Bailey ankle jeans (shown above) just to show on the blog, but planned to return them after taking a selfie. In the past, NYDJ jeans have just never suited me or fit quite right. But these are truly great jeans. If they’re too long you could easily use a pair of sewing sheers to create a new raw edge hemline. Definitely size down. I got the 10 and really should have purchased the 8.

But I’ve rounded up other items that I purchased either for myself or my daughter purchased for my son-in-law, granddaughter or herself, too. We bought other things that we returned. But these are the things we loved so much that we kept. And trust me, we’re all on budgets and had to make tough decisions. So we can highly recommend these keepers.

The following is a huge shoppable boutique of our purchases that are still available. Only a handful of the things we purchased and kept are no longer stocked, and I’m not including those here. I’ve made notes under each item to share a little about fit or fabulousness. Let me know if you have any questions.

Right now as I publish this post on Sunday evening, only Nordstrom cardholders can shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. But tonight just past midnight Eastern Time the sale opens to everyone. As with each opening, the sale will move fast at that time. If you really hope to purchase something specific, I suggest you hop on the Nordstrom website right when it opens and move items from your wish list to your cart.

If my coverage of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has been helpful to you and you’d like to support my work, you can enter the sale through any of my links and I will get a small commission on your purchases. But this costs you nothing. I am so grateful to you for supporting my business in this way. Thank you.

Blessed for My Day

My heart is deeply saddened by the attempted assassination of President Trump in yesterday’s election rally. Regardless of how our political affiliations lean, we all know that such violence and mayhem is not acceptable or to be tolerated. I’m grieved because I fear that cultural vitriol has grown to such proportions that a young person would feel compelled to commit such a heinous act. And I fear that this one crime was only a forerunner of potential additional acts of violence.

But this morning my Bible reading took me to 2 Chronicles 15 where I was reminded that when we seek God He will make Himself found. And He will bless those who seek Him earnestly and lean into His provision and protection. Let’s commit to pray even more for our leadership, this upcoming election and the spirit of our nation. I can’t turn a whole country to the Lord, but I can turn my heart to Him earnestly. God will answer my prayers, and He will answer yours, too.

Now the Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded, and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. For many days Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law. But in their distress they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him. In those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for many disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands. Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every kind of distress. But you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work.” ~ 2 Chronicles 15:1-7

  1. I appreciate your calling him Pres. Trump. I believe he is like an Esther, for such a time as this. God is using this man, even until now. I hurt so much when I heard that the shooter
was only 20 years old. I was sobbing, finding out that he was killed. Yes, he had to be stopped-why don’t they just shoot with what will simply stop him in his tracks? I don’t know what
you call it. I feel for his parents- what if they love him? Was he just thinking like a young person that is mixed up? I have two kids-I guess it was kinda like if that happened with them.

  2. Very kind of you to acknowledge President Trump and the attempt on his life. I truly believe the hate rhetoric probably influenced the shooter; words are impactful and society has gone haywire.

    1. I do believe That the main stream media I’m not reporting The whole truth Has influenced so many young people and older people too.

      1. Sorry for the typo. It should have said , the main street media not reporting the complete truth Has mixed up so many Of our young people And older people too. God bless you.

  3. I did a little shopping in the Nordstrom sale. I found too that A few things that I wanted were sold out. I did find some things that I wanted, This is the way sales go.
Yes thank you so much For calling him president Trump. He deserves this honor. I grieve for this country and the people in it. The craziness that’s going on in the nation, President Trump’s family and what he’s went through, the families of the people shot and the man that died. Also the family of the young man who was so mixed up and lost. I do know , That Jesus is working In the background. Amen

  4. I would probably never buy the Paul Green Shoes due to the price but I am always in need of good comfortable footwear, so was considering maybe trying them on. Alas, they do not come in WIDE widths. Wide width is the first requirement for a comfortable shoe for myself and many others.

The font when typing this comment is ridiculously small.

  5. I love the devotional message. Thank you for acknowledging the tragedy that happened this weekend. I’m so sad for the innocent bystanders who were killed and injured and their families. I do blame all the political rhetoric.

  6. Hi Kay,

Of the first importance, thank you for taking the time to mention the near assassination of our former President. Frankly, if I may, there are politicians, news programs, and talk shows that continually engage in inflammatory speech that unfortunately may have had a role in provoking this attack. Not only was President Trump injured, innocent bystanders were also injured or killed. That kind of talk needs to be stopped and perhaps those who spread the inflammatory speech should be held accountable. I can name a few shows that should be permanently pulled off the air for this behavior. As you said, this nation is in need of the Lord.

Of far lesser importance, I haven’t found much useful from this year’s NAS. Last year, I made out like a bandit, as the saying goes. However, I am still following coverage of the sale for outfit ideas, etc.

  7. Thank you Kay for acknowledging the tragic events from Saturday. Even though this is a fashion blog I am glad that you mentioned what happened.
