Wouldn’t you know it? After I posted my Styling Kimonos for Summer post last week, I came across a new ruana that I love. I think you’ll love it, too! Let’s see how I styled this colorful summer ruana from Chico’s.
But first I want to show you how summery fresh this outfit looks even without my new wrap. I’m all about linen this summer. Ha! And this is my third pair of linen pants to add to my summer wardrobe. But I know I’ll be wearing these classic wide leg white linen trousers for many years. And they’re a steal at less than $35 right now.
I did size up to a 10 or Chico’s 1.5 in these drawstring linen pants. The 8 or Chico’s 1 just felt a bit snug in the rear and I feared they wouldn’t stretch any with wear. I certainly didn’t want these white linen pants to be at all tight in the rear or hips.
Isn’t this pale turquoise blue double v-neck tank a pretty shade? It’s just like the white one I have from last year and styled here. I didn’t hesitate to purchase another one because it’s so lightweight and breathable. It layers easily under other garments, but wears well by itself, too.
For a “day of shopping” look I grabbed my straw hat from last year’s summer travel collection at Chico’s. This shell-embellished straw hat is similar and marked down considerably. Every gal needs a wide-brimmed hat to protect her face from the harsh rays of the sun.
At any rate, you could create a similar look with most any comfortable pretty tank top of your choice. I just added my pretty aqua pendant necklace and some gold earrings and bracelet from last year. I’ve linked other pretty jewelry selections in the shopping widget because as I typed this post, there was, supposedly, only one aqua pendant necklace left.
Then for a “dinner on the restaurant veranda” look I added the beautiful, colorful summer ruana in this bold tropical print. So you see, it would work nicely with tops in so many different colors, including black or sand.
Because these white linen pants have a 31.5″ inseam, I wore 1″ heels with them. I’m loving my Eileen Fisher Viv Sandals, and they’re marked down a little here. As I mentioned in this post, these sandals are definitely made for walking.
The only bad news here is that the summer ruana is not marked down. Bleh. But it will be! So if you’re interested but don’t want to pay full price, just click on the little heart in the widget below so you’ll “Get Sale Alert.” My bet is Chico’s will have another sitewide markdown soon.

Blessed for My Day
What does it mean to live by the Spirit? We live by the Spirit of God if we have the Spirit of God within us. And only those who have accepted by faith the grace gift of redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ have that kind of intimate fellowship with God. And oh what a precious gift that is! We have been given the Spirit of the living God to dwell within us until we are united with God in heaven.
The Spirit of God is responsible for sanctifying us. That is simply a big word for “cleaning us up.” Many people fail to commit their lives to following Christ because they believe they have to “clean up” first. But in fact, all we have to do is admit that we fall short of God’s standards and are in need of His grace. He does the cleaning. The Holy Spirit comes into our lives and begins to make us more like Christ the minute we receive that free gift of salvation. Isn’t that good news?
If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. ~ Galatians 5:25
