It’s time to get ready for Valentine’s Day. That sweet holiday is just around the corner and if you plan to celebrate it now is the time to prepare. I love shopping Jane.com for Valentine’s Day t-shirts, accessories, party treats, gifts and decorations. When you shop Jane.com you’re actually supporting the thousands of small business owners who sell their products on the site, shipping directly from their shop to your home. It’s great knowing you can shop small and save big with Jane. So today I’m sharing some of my favorite finds from Jane.com so we can celebrate Valentine’s Day with small businesses.

Of course Valentine’s Day isn’t an official government holiday, but I think most of us will agree that it’s one of the sweetest to celebrate. Once we wise up to the reality that Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers, we can breathe a little easier and join in the celebration with a little more gusto. So whether you’re celebrating this “Hallmark holiday” by sending cards to friends, planning a romantic dinner for two, gathering your galentines for brunch or playing with the grandkids after school, I’ve found all the supplies you’ll need from Jane.com. And you can enjoy the added bonus of celebrating Valentine’s Day with small businesses.

What to Wear this Valentine’s Day

First, let’s square away what to wear as we celebrate Valentine’s Day. I’ll have more style inspiration in an upcoming video for a date night or gal pal party. But below I’ve gathered some fun tees and sweatshirts that would work beautifully for coffee with a friend or after school with the grandkids. I especially love the Happy Valentine’s Day sweatshirt for that coffee date. And the heart stud earrings with the hammered metal would be a nice little gift to carry along.

Of course these tees and accessories could make great gifts, too. And when you click through these links you’ll discover that most of these small businesses actually have other styles and colors to offer you, too.

Gifts for Your Sweetheart

No, Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers. But we certainly don’t want to leave out our main squeeze either. Hahaha! I’ve collected some sweet gifts for your sweetheart here. For instance, you could surprise your guy with his favorite flavor of ice cream and this engraved ice cream scoop. Or you could set up a fun movie to watch on a DVD and have the his and hers personalized socks at your places on the sofa. Keep it light and fun!

On the other hand, you could really express your heart with a “book of us” or propose the idea of sharing love notes with each other for the rest of the year in the Love Notes Back & Forth Journal. I’m providing shopping widgets below each category filled with these celebration ideas, too.

Gifts for Grandchildren

I don’t have any grandchildren yet, but if I did I would make a BIG DEAL out of Valentine’s Day. I know my mom always did that for her grands, and it was so appreciated. I love these love is sweet onesies and there are other designs to choose from.

Besides gifts, I also found some great DIY crafts you could help your grandchildren do. Bake some cookies and have them over for some fun crafts and then seal it all with a big sloppy grandma kiss. Ewe!!!

Gifts for Galentines

Valentine’s Day is a sweet day to celebrate with a gal pal or two as well. It would be especially thoughtful to invite over a few widows or single women. You could have a little brunch, afternoon coffee or tea. Or you could meet up somewhere fun, too.

Each of these are sweet gifts for friends. I especially like the pet bandanas for the dog or cat lover. Or you could treat a friend with a chick flick DVD, a box of candy and a package of popcorn with one of these personalized popcorn stickers with string.

Decorate for Valentine’s Day

I generally don’t decorate “all out” for Valentine’s Day like I would for Christmas. But a little Valentine’s decor can really help set the tone for this day. I personally like to make this holiday whimsical, fun and light. But you could also set a romantic table for two with this hearts table runner.

One of my favorite things in this entire collection is the table decor words. Add some beautiful script words to your table with these reusable felt plate words. They come in sets of 5 or 6, and they also have words for other holidays available, too. Fun!

I hope you got a little inspiration for celebrating Valentine’s Day with small businesses. Spread the love

Blessed for My Day

Without love…we tend to make a mess of things. Instruction wrapped in love is less likely to bounce off and more likely to be followed. Constructive criticism carefully conveyed in love loses a little of its sting and sits a little more softly. And when we share our opinions in love others are at least a little more likely to hear where we’re coming from instead of immediately going in a different direction.

But when we try to communicate instruction, criticism or opinions without love… Well that’s another story. The absence of love breaks down communication. It puts us at odds instead of inviting us in. So it’s worth considering, how are you at showing love in your daily interactions? Whether you’re talking to a family member, an authority figure, a relative stranger or a neighbor or friend, are you showing the love of Christ? I’m asking myself these questions today, too.

If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

  1. Thank you for the great gift ideas. I love Valentine’s Day and enjoy sending Valentine’s cards to loved ones.

  2. Hello Kay!
Ok…I am 49 yrs 11 mo old so 50 is approaching at warp speed. I am in the process of updating my look, make up and wardrobe…it’s LLOONNGG overdue for this homeschooling mama of 4.

I recently purchased a long sweater with large, 6″, horizontal stripes. The sweater hits my calves. It is pink with other lightly colored stripes: mint, a light mustard yellow, ecru, and light blue. I am 5’4″ and weight 140, retangular in shape and I am short waisted. Is this a good sweater for me?

Thank you…just learning the ropes here!
    Marian

    1. Hi Marian. It’s hard to say without seeing you or the sweater. But at your height and with a rectangle shape I’d suggest a shorter length sweater, something that hits you more at the waist. And diagonal stripes could help create some shape.

    2. Hi again, Marian. It just occurred to me that maybe you meant a cardigan sweater. Is that right? In that case, a longer length can be nice and lengthening. I was thinking a pullover and that had me stumped a bit!

  3. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
