Casual Vibe Work Clothes for Abby

Well hello there! Yes, I finally took a few days off. Of course, then it has taken me several days to get back on schedule. I had a sponsored blog post (for this coming Friday), a sponsored Instagram campaign (for later in September) and a sponsored video (up on Wednesday) that all had to be done before I could get around to writing this post. But after spending a few wonderful days with my sweet Abby and her hubby Andrew, I’m so pleased to share with you some casual vibe work clothes…styled by Abigail!

If you’re unfamiliar with my dear Abby, she is my 28-year-old daughter who lives in Georgia with her new husband, Andrew. Abigail has a theater performance degree from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in psychology from Grand Canyon University. She spent several years out of college working retail (at Talbots then Madewell) and then worked for the Atlanta Rotary Club and me. But next week Abigail begins a new job, one she has been working toward for so long.

Abigail is going to be doing a ten-month paid internship at her church in Atlanta. I don’t think anyone would argue with me if I say that Christ Covenant is a conservative but rather hip, young church. The average age of this vibrant, growing church is probably somewhere between 26-30, but it does have the steadying influence of older adults, too. Abby and Andrew volunteer in student ministry together and take part in a small group of young adults.

Abigail has been working on her Biblical counseling certification through courses at Christ Covenant. And for the next ten months she is going to be working in the counseling ministry, gaining hours toward her certification and learning the ropes from the counselors she’ll be sitting in with. She’ll also be working a little with the women’s ministry director. Abigail is so excited about her new job.

After working mostly from home for the past year, Abigail needed some new work clothes for the fall. She wanted pieces that would easily mix and match. And while she wanted them to look polished and pulled together, she also wanted her outfits to have a casual, fun vibe. Remember, this is a church filled with young people and the “dress code” is super casual, even on Sundays.

So we created Abigail a fresh, vibrant and fun capsule wardrobe that should serve her well all fall. Besides the separates you’re seeing here, Abigail also has this white button up shirt, these black booties, these tan suede booties, this blazer and this trench coat. We purchased those pieces in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

To those basics, she added these J.Crew separates. Above she’s wearing the light cappuccino Ingrid pants, the vintage rib tank in the same color and a striped slim-fit stretch cotton poplin shirt. The pants fit true to size.

While Abigail has the boots I mentioned above as well as other flats at home, she’s looking forward to wearing these fun New Balance 574 sneakers with her outfits. These retro sneakers are trending this year even more than in the past. And you can wear them with “dress slacks” like Abby’s light cappuccino Ingrid pants for a very on point look.

We also got Abigail a couple of sweet graphic tees to wear with her new work clothes. She’ll be sporting this vintage cotton floral t-shirt with the Ingrid pants and a denim jacket. But she can also wear it with these fun navy Astrid wide leg chinos. I got those pants in the natural shade, and I’ll show them to you in an upcoming post.

She can add her plaid blazer to this outfit on some days. Or she can add that blue and white striped poplin shirt. Abby also got a new pair of demi boot cut jeans and another fun graphic tee. She’ll show you those in a post with me next week!

Abigail worked within her budget to create this mix and match wardrobe. And, because she has a birthday coming up in just a few weeks, I helped out with a few extra pieces. I think she is going to feel confident and stylish in her outfits, and I think they’re going to work really well for her work environment. She can add her blazer any time she wants to look a little more polished or authoritative, but she’ll still be comfortable and youthful.
