Summer is on the way! If you’re tempted to put away your denim when warmer days arrive, think again. I’ve created a couple of summer denim outfits with recent finds from Spanx that just may inspire you to keep wearing this all-American fabric well into the next season. Best of all, in true Spanx style, these casual everyday fashions fit a real woman’s body splendidly. So you’ll want to wear these modern, classic styles on repeat now and well beyond Memorial Day.

When you think of Spanx does your mind go straight to your unmentionables drawer? That’s only natural since they have helped most of us look our most slender and shapely for life’s biggest moments. Or maybe you immediately think of your favorite cozy travel and lounge set, the Spanx AirEssentials®. Those are certainly noteworthy garments many of us wear on repeat.
But in recent years Spanx has perfected more than shapewear and loungewear. For instance, in this recent spring fashion unboxing blog post I shared this striking aster ribbed tee and these classic Easy Flare Pants in one of the prettiest camels and most flattering fabrics I’ve ever put on, both from Spanx. I also love and highly recommend their poplin cotton oversized button-up shirt for its polished look, comfortable fabric and centrally located button that prevents gaping.

But this is the first time I’ve tried any Spanx denim. And oh my goodness, am I ever impressed! In true Spanx form, they’ve created denim that sucks you in “just so” but still feels extremely comfortable and wearable. These aren’t shapewear, so you don’t have to shimmy into them. But Spanx has simply constructed the jeans (and other denim items) in a way that flatters and fits a real woman’s body while showing it off in the best light, too.

Here I’m wearing the SPANXshape™ Authentic 360 raw hem kick flare jeans in the Seaside Blue wash. They also come in a darker Adriatic Blue. They’re made in Spanx’s premium denim with just the right amount of stretch and structure, and feature their signature 360-degree panel for tummy and waist shaping—plus back smoothing to reduce rolling and folding. Wow! That’s a powerful punch for a jean that feels this good. I kid you not, these have quickly become my new favorite ankle length jeans. They feel so good!

You’ll notice that, while these are called a kick flare, they have only the most subtle flare and really read like more of a relaxed straight jean. Of course, maybe that’s because I’m a little hippy. I used their Fit Finder size calculator to determine that I needed a Large in this style, and they fit very nicely…not tight at all.

For a casual summer denim outfit, I’ve completed the look with a favorite shirt from Frank & Eileen (size medium), a leather belt and Beeks platinum Gallito sandals (TTS; use code KAY10 for 10% off). I added some favorite jewelry (linked in the captions and shopping widget) from Gorjana.
But wait…there’s more!

Yes, I’ll definitely be wearing this barrel leg denim jumpsuit into the summer. Made in their SPANXsupersmooth™ Authentic 360 Lightweight denim, this jumpsuit is light and breezy. No need to worry about overheating in this stylish one-and-done casual summer denim outfit from Spanx.

The True Fit sizing mechanism didn’t pop up on this page, so I purchased both the medium and large (so you don’t have to!). It turns out the medium fits perfectly this time. For reference, in case you don’t know my size, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 160 pounds. I have even proportions and an hour glass shape. I usually wear a size 10 or medium, but often size up to a large at Spanx. This time, however, the medium in the regular inseam is the right size.

Speaking of inseams, Spanx carries a generous size range from X-Small to 3X. And in most garments they carry petite, regular and tall sizes. Even at 5’8″, I always take a regular inseam and find the lengths to be very generous.

Good news! Spanx is having their Full Bloom Sale with up to 40% off select styles, including this jumpsuit. Now, the jumpsuit is final sale unfortunately. But I’m giving you the scoop here on sizing. Use the size guide and go with your usual size on this for a comfortable and flattering fit.
I’ve filled the shopping widget below with additional great everyday fashion finds at Spanx. Many, but not all, of them are included in the Full Bloom Sale.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q – What is your honest assessment of Spanx denim?
A – I guarantee you that I always give my honest opinion here and at my YouTube channel…and everywhere else! But I understand that my enthusiasm could be mistaken for hype. So I’ll calm down enough to assure you that I truly love both these jeans and this jumpsuit. I plan to wear them frequently through the summer. I ordered several things that I did indeed return, but only because they either didn’t fit me well or I didn’t really need them.
Q – Do you know anything about their denim shorts?
A – Yes! I actually ordered these raw hem jean shorts with a 5.5″ inseam. They fit beautifully true to size in a medium. In the end I returned them because I have very similar shorts from two other brands. But I highly recommend them for a similar fit to what I have in the jeans.

Blessed for My Day
It’s natural to judge a book by its cover…or a person by their appearance…or a situation by what you see with your own two eyes. Even the godly priest Samuel had to be reminded by God to look beyond appearances to the heart of the man when he was sent by God to ordain a new king among Jesse’s sons.
Is there a situation in your life that you’ve been looking at in black and white rather than through God’s wisdom? Is there a person you’ve been judging based on what you can see and hear, but disregarding the potential that only God is privy to? Ask the Lord to help you evaluate situations through His lens instead of your limited understanding. And then give Him time to open your eyes to the reality that He wants you to see.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
