Happy Monday! I’ve got a treat for you today. I’m sharing a really simple but fun outfit two different ways. Well, really all I’m switching up is the shoes and handbag. And both outfits have their own special touch of whimsy. But I love this colorful sweater with my navy cords…two ways!

I think one of the best ways to add a little life and a signature mark to your outfits is with your footwear. Whether that signature is classic and elegant or includes a touch of whimsy, switching out your shoes can completely change the look of an outfit.

First up I’m wearing these classic navy cords and striped pullover sweater (57% Cotton, 28% Acrylic, 15% Polyester) with my gold loafers (similar). I love wearing metallic shoes. I think they add light and joy to an outfit.

When I wore my metallic loafers, I carried my “mud grey” vegan leather crossbody by Angela Roi. This is a new brand to me, and Angela Roi sent me this bag to share with you. I really appreciate the neutral color of this bag. And the vegan leather is supple and soft. You can use code Kay10 to get 10% off your purchase at Angela Roi.

While you could certainly wear neutral colored flats or loafers or boots with this sweater and cords, I think the gold shoes really give this classic look a little life.

Navy Cords and a Pullover Sweater

My quilted snap front jacket worked perfectly with this simple but fun pairing. Unfortunately it’s about sold out in the navy. But the long quilted coat is more in stock in the navy.

Jewelry with Striped Sweater

I kept my jewelry simple but impactful. I wore my Kendra Scott adjustable Olive necklace and my Kendra Scott Addie drop earrings. I find that when I wear my metallic shoes I want to keep my jewelry pretty simple and pared back. There’s no need to have something “flashy” up top and down below, too. A little glitz goes a long way! Oh, and I did wear my Nordgreen Infinity Watch. I pretty much always wear a watch. You can use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your purchase at Nordgreen.

Now let’s see how I added even more fun to this otherwise classic outfit. Hold onto your seats! This may not be for everyone. But I actually wore these fun white boots to church yesterday and got lots of compliments on them. That’s right. I switched out my metallic loafers for my Paul Green white patent leather Jake boots .

Paul Green gifted me these amazing ivory Jake boots (use code DRESSED15 for 15% off your order JUST THROUGH October 31, 2021), and they are pricey. But like all Paul Green shoes, they are also amazingly comfortable and stylish.

However, I’ve filled the shopping widget below with other stylish white boots, in case your interested in trying out this trend at a lower price point. They are so fun! I styled them with my black jeans and ivory sweater in this post. And you’ll be seeing more of them for sure.

For this sporty look I swapped my quilted jacket for a quilted vest. I’ve had this vest for a few years at least, but Talbots has one again this year. I also swapped out my neutral shoulder bag for a fun olive green crescent shaped crossbody I found at Target.

By the way, you may have noticed I cuffed my cords just a bit when I swapped in my ivory boots. These days that’s considered not only acceptable, but quite stylish. In fact, if you are going to cuff your pants, roll them up just once…even if that creates a somewhat wide cuff. Very on trend!

Remember, fashion should be fun. Yes, there are times when the rules of proportion and fit should take precedence. If I’m dressing for a job interview or a wedding or funeral or other more solemn occasion, I’d do my best to look classic and elegant. But not every day! So don’t be afraid to have a little fun with your outfits. You can achieve a respectable balance by toning down some elements (such as your jewelry), if necessary. But have some fun with your fashion choices. Life’s too short to take every piece of clothing and every style choice so seriously. I for one like to smile when I look in the mirror!

Blessed for My Day

Someone needs to hear today that nothing is too difficult for God. Sometimes we expect too little of God. And many times we put Him into a box, assuming He can only do what we can imagine…or even less. But indeed, nothing is too difficult for God.

If you are in need of a miracle today, don’t hesitate to ask God for it…in faith, believing that He can do beyond what you can even think or imagine. And trust that He loves you more than enough to do what you have asked or, better yet, something much, much bigger. Let’s memorize this simple verse and recite it as necessary. We want to be women who have a big faith in an even bigger God.

‘Oh, Lord God! Behold, You Yourself have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You…” ~ Jeremiah 32:17

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Hi Kay!! Love these outfits! Love Talbots! Love your blog!! Love your UTube channel. Love your Biblical Encouragement. You are such an inspiration!! I have learned so much!! Have a great Day!!?????

    1. Hey Kay,enjoyed your outfits. You are very helpful. And the Scripture, was reading about our Great GOD this morning. You have a blessed week. Love, Cindy Roxanne

  2. I remember when cords were so popular in my younger days…..these look amazing and not too bulky. I think with that one roll up on your slacks although gives that “trend” look, also shows of your white boots as will any shoe. Love that look.

    Happy Monday Kay!
    Blessings,

    1. Thanks for sharing Holly. Yes these are not bulky. They’re not too thin though either. Just right. Oh!!! I should have said size up! I better go back and correct that. I find that I almost always have to size up in cords. My mom got some too and she sized up in the petites too.

  3. While I love your outfit and it’s definitely “me”, including the awesome white boots, your BFMD is what has really hit me today. My family has been experiencing something very hard that had been going on for two years now, and the situation seems to be deteriorating. Other family members are ready to give up, but I know God can turn this around. I have seen Him answer seemingly impossible prayers before, and I know He can do it this time. Thank you so much for this reminder today. I really needed that at this particular time.

    1. Oh I’m so glad you read that. We all need to be reminded occasionally just how big and powerful our God is. Thanks so much for sharing. ?

      1. I’m 79 and saved since 1980. It’s been my experience that God usually shows up at the exact time when you think he’s not paying attention. Hold on to that hope.??

  4. Yes I agree with Patt. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. We must ask him Even more so all the difficult things. Very nice
    BFMD
It was nice to see you and a lot of color for a change Kay. Brightens up the day and you. Though I love Paul green shoes
And I do have a pair of black flats, there are so comfortable and the white boots , I am sure are too. They are very trendy and I would not spend the high price on them. Very nice that they were gifted to you. Nice to have those perks and are blessed. I am sure someone would though.

  5. What a great BFMD! Kay, I really like both outfits! Even though white boots aren’t for me, they look fabulous with this beautiful sweater! I’m glad that you and James still had a nice time last Friday, in spite of the rain. I wish you an awesome day!

  6. My first pair of boots were white majorette boots. I lived in those until they worn out. I still love white boots ,white sneakers and white sandals. I can’t spend a thousand dollars on an outfit but I sure can be inspired to look for cheaper versions. I think this is a very pretty look. I just wish cords didn’t swoosh!

  7. Hi Kay, ordered the beautiful striped sweater today through your link! My local store had my size in stock, so I can pick up. I bought the indigo cords from Talbots last winter and have a non bulky quilted navy vest, so I’m excited to put it all together from your inspiration!! Had 40% off coupon & 10% more birthday, so a great deal! Love the colors in sweater; love your blog!! Thanks for everything!
