Happy Friday! And, da ta da! Welcome to March! Indeed, the temps are finally warming up a bit here in Arizona. Don’t get mad, but we’ll hit the low 70s for the next six or seven days. Now that makes me feel like it’s okay to actually wear some of the spring fashions I’m showing you. In fact today I’m sharing a smart yellow and navy spring outfit. And I was actually freezing when we shot these photos.

Bear with me if you’re not so much a classic dresser. I know this outfit is extremely classic or, some would even say, preppy. But I’m going to tell you about some different ways to wear these pieces.

The photo above is, unfortunately, the only one we got with my loafers and the straw canteen crossbody (similar).

Then I switched out the bag and shoes for these. My block heel navy pumps are no longer available, but these navy blue plaid leather pumps are even prettier. My bag is old (oh so old!), but this one is similar.

Usually I’d consider these pale yellow chinos to be pretty casual, but you can see here that they dress up with the right shoes and handbag.

These loafers are also available in several other great shades, including a yummy powder beige (really a pale pink), toffee and bright magenta. They are extremely comfortable, made of a soft, rich Vachetta leather. And they run true to size. Oh, and right now they’re 25% off.

Obviously if I just put on my sneakers and traded out my blazer for my denim jacket, I’d have a much more relaxed look here. And honestly, that’s how I’m more prone to wear these chinos.

By the way, these Chinos are a deal from Target, and they’re also available in tan and soft pink (so pretty). I’m wearing an 8 and they fit true to size. Don’t forget you can order online with Target and pick up at your local store for free.

This sweet elbow length sleeve geo-print top is made of soft Pima cotton. It will work well with white pants or skirt, too, and I’ve worn it with my soft pink chinos as well. It’s 25% off right now.

I realize I just showed a navy blazer Wednesday, so I really wish I had picked a different jacket for this outfit. But this is a different blazer. The one in the earlier post was a ponte knit blazer. This one is a stretch cotton blazer from J. Crew Factory, where it’s marked down 50%. The single button makes it versatile and classic. I’m wearing a 10, so I’d go with the larger of the two sizes you normally wear.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post. I promise I have some more casual looks coming. But I wanted to show you these chinos and the blazer before they sell out.

Blessed for My Day

Do you have moments when fear sets in and derails your plans or your day? I do. For some reason I often have bad dreams that cause me to awaken to a sense of foreboding. It’s a struggle, but I have to talk my self out of that fear quite often. If I let it persist, the fear will keep me from trying something new, engaging in a relationship, driving somewhere I need to go or participating in something I’d been looking forward to.

If fear is crippling you, don’t let it. Speak truth to your soul and come down off that ledge. Remind yourself that God never directs our path through fear. A little nervousness or butterflies in the tummy? Sure. That’s not a problem. But paralyzing fear is from the enemy of your soul. Don’t give in to it.

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Fabulous outfit that you look so nice in, Kay! I am going to check out the chino pants. Have a blessed day!

  2. You look great in these photos! I really appreciate the added comments about other ways to dress outfit (in this case down). Sometimes I get stuck in my usual and don’t think of other options. Having ideas of other ways helps my closet work harder! Thanks!!

    1. Hi Kristin! Yes, I’m trying to do more of that – showing or talking about different ways to wear something – because I’m really trying to build a wardrobe that works for me this year. Hopefully that will help you gals do the same. 🙂
