What I’m Wearing this Easter (and beyond!)

Easter always sneaks up on me. But now that I know it’s this Sunday (don’t worry; I’ve known it for a while!), I’m spending time each day preparing my heart for this meaningful Christian holiday. First and foremost, Easter is a day to celebrate the risen Lord. In fact, I have a special Easter video that I’ve prepared for you. And I can’t wait to share it with you later this week. But today we’re sticking with fashion, and I’m sharing what I’m wearing this Easter.

What I'm Wearing Easter
dolman sleeve shirtdress (TTS; in sizes 0-22, including petites) // Biscayne blue cardigan (TTS) // Commando fitted slip // Madewell vintage beige mule sandals // baroque pearl necklace // enamel bangles (similar) // ditsy floral hoop earrings // Nordgreen watch // Dune straw satchel (economical option)

Obviously, this pretty blue shirtdress may just be wishful thinking. Ha! Raise your hand if you’ve ever had snow on Easter. Me! And that was when I lived in the deep south. So who knows if I’ll actually get to wear this 100% cotton sash-tied dress. Right now our forecast is 72 degrees and sunshine, so I’m planning for blue skies and blue dress!

Blue Shirtdress

This dolman sleeve shirtdress features all the niceties I love in a good spring and summer dress: a removable, wide sash that’s easy to tie, luxuriously soft cotton fabric and on-seam pockets that don’t add visual weight at the hips. And the softly cuffed dolman sleeves sit off of the arms for a flattering effect.

Dolman Sleeve Shirtdress

My Biscayne blue cardigan is a perfect match, so I’ll carry it along to ward off the chill in the church or restaurant. But a simple white cardigan would work well here, too.

Blue Cardigan

I’ll confess that I forgot to wear a slip the day we snapped these photos, but I sure was wishing I had one on. Ha! So I’ll be wearing my Commando fitted slip under this single layer dress on Sunday. Other than that unseen change, I think I’ll be wearing this exact combination (weather cooperating!). I think the Madewell vintage beige mule sandals work perfectly with this sweet dress, creating a long leg and adding just a touch of height. I purchased them last year, but they’re still available.

Jewelry

I’ve been swinging back and forth on the pendulum when it comes to jewelry lately. Some days I go very minimal (which is quite in!) and others I layer on the bling (which is also on trend). Here I’ve layered on Talbots’ signature enamel bangles (similar) that I’ve collected over the years as well as several Kendra Scott necklaces. I’m wearing the baroque pearl necklace along with demi multi strand necklace. And aren’t these ditsy floral hoop earrings darling? I know I’ll be wearing them frequently through the summer.

What I'm Wearing Easter

I’m also wearing my Nordgreen watch. I think it really elevates any outfit and is versatile enough to wear with anything. (Use code KAYHRMS to receive 15% off your order.) My sunglasses are old from Talbots. But the key is simply to choose frames that flatter your face and add value rather than detract from your outfit.

Brighton Straw Satchel

I’ll definitely be carrying my Dune straw satchel from Brighton. Honestly, this is the bag I’ll be carrying every day this spring and summer unless I just think something else works better in that instance. A classic straw bag adds an unmistakable taste of summer to any outfit. I’ve found that you get what you pay for with straw bags. And I have owned much cheaper ones. But the differences are substantial. I do think this white leather lined straw satchel at Macy’s is a great economical option.

I’ll be attending our more contemporary worship service on Sunday and then going out for brunch with James and another couple. I look forward to being with my church family. In fact, we’re serving brownies and coffee outside between the services that day, too. If you can’t go to church on Sunday, I invite you to watch our service on YouTube at 11 a.m. EDT. But I really hope you get to be with your church family, too.

Blessed for My Day

It still amazes me that Jesus, the sinless Savior, carried all of my sin to the cross and died on my behalf. What grace! What mercy! What love! That gracious gift compels me to want to live a life that pleases God, one that honors Him. And while I so often fall short, I gladly try to line up my life with God’s character and ways each day.

That’s the best way we can say thank you for the gift of our salvation. We can live a life that reflects His character to the world around us. We can selflessly love those around us even when it is hard. And we can forgive those who wound us, even if they do not act repentant. Following Jesus’ example is hard. But such a gift compels us to try.

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:21

Spread the love

I miss the way everyone used to dress up on Easter Sunday…..

    Blessings,

    1. You look beautiful! Almost tried the dress on the other day and didn’t. I think I need another trip to Talbots!

  5. Have a happy Easter Kay! You look fabulous in that dress. Perfect for Easter Sunday.
    Love those shoes too.
    Be well,
    Vicki

  6. Kay, you look so nice and pretty and that beautiful dress! I agree with your remarks on how perfectly the sandals work because they lengthen your leg line and allow all of the focus to be on the dress, not your feet. What a great BFMD! I’m looking forward to your Easter video!

  7. Love this whole outfit on you. Looks so becoming, I almost ordered this dress but last week was so busy for me I forgot. Might have do it yet even though will not be here for Easter. Will have to wear something else for Easter. Thank you for the Easter BFMD. Sometimes we don’t stop to thank God for all that He did for us. It is after all Resurrection Day!

  8. Thanks for the post. Buying a new Easter outfit was always a big deal in the south when I lived there. I’ll finally be seeing my Dad on Easter. This will be the first visit since Christmas 2019. I’m pulling out an orange sheath dress and my denim jacket this year. I did recently purchase a new straw bag based on your recent posts, so I’ll have that on my arm. Can’t wait to go to church in person with my family Easter morning.

  9. Move over, JuliaRoberts! This is what a pretty woman looks like! I love the “dressed for Easter” vibe this has. It’s perfect down to the bag and shoes.
This is it! This is what being a Christian is all about. HE IS RISEN??
BFMD is always a blessing. I always play Dallas Holmes beautiful song, “Rise Again” on Easter.

  10. Amen!! Thank you for the Blessing for the Day!! He loved us even while we sinned against Him. We should live as free of sin as we are able but this does NOT mean free from sinful people. WE are called to love them and reach them for Christ!!

  11. I love this dress and sweater combo. I especially like your choice of shoes. Talbots has an adorable pair of sandals in the same blue. The neutral finishes this outfit so nicely.

  12. Kay, you are such a magnificent woman! Your strength, grace and beauty never cease to amaze me! I just listened to your videos on Hope & Building a Retirement wardrobe . Both excellent. You have made my Easter special. Thank you! Believe me, you make God and Jesus proud! Happiest of Easter wishes to you and your family!

  13. Thank you Kay. From the moment I saw you, and you spoke I said to myself, she’s a Christian. What you wrote about Easter was so beautiful. I had what started out as a terrible lonely day. My daughter has Covid and I couldn’t be near her or her husband or babies. But a few hours into the day I decided to spend the time with my Savior Jesus and what a difference! Remembering what He did for ME is almost too much to bear. I love Him and I thank Him for you. Praying for you daily ??❤️
