Scripture Meditation & Memory at DFMD 2023

Hello dear Sister, and welcome to the fifth posting of our 2023 Dressed for My Day Scripture Meditation & Memory Challenge. I am so glad that you have met me here today.

Yesterday I listened to a biblical meditation as I walked and I was reminded that, indeed, we reap what we sow. You and I are sowing truth into our hearts and minds, and my prayer is that we will reap a harvest of wise decisions, gracious words and acts of obedience because of what we are doing here and in the privacy of our quiet times with God.

Psalm 27:4,8

I’m enjoying a much needed full weekend of rest, so I am not going to be long here. But, as always, I want to encourage you to press on. Spend adequate time each day with each of the verses that you have accumulated in your meditation albums. Chew on each phrase, mulling over the fresh manna that each verse provides for your day. I trust that God is indeed feeding your soul as you take the time to feast on His Word each day.

My Fifth Scripture Passage

I’ve chosen a familiar passage again, but one that I simply felt drawn to afresh.

Psalm 27:4,8

I am reminded that initial the word “priority” did not even have a plural form. There was no such thing as “priorities.” You would only have one priority. And truly, don’t we all, in any given moment, focus on only one thing? We may say we have priorities, plural. But we can only devote ourselves fully to one thing at a time. And that priority must be to seek the Lord.

As I go about that priority of seeking His face, He illumines my path and sets my agenda and empowers me for the other things in my day. But all day long I want to seek Him in everything I do.

  1. Acts 10 V.34-35
34 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realise how true it is that God does not show favouritism 35 but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.

    1. My apologies if this ends up being a duplicate. I chose these in support of my journey for direction.

Psalm 37:23-24: “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”

Proverbs 16:9: “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

  2. Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 3:3

  3. Revelation 21 3:7

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[a] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.

  4. My verse is Jude 1:20
“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith.
Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit”.
    New Living Translation

    1. I chose

Psalm 37:23-24: “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”

Proverbs 16:9: “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

As I continue my journey for direction both of these are a reminder of his promise.

  5. Brenda from Indiana: Psalm 121:1,2
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

  6. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

  7. I will meditate on this verse because it reminds me to take time to hear what He is saying to me. Verse 14 of the same Psalm says: Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.

  8. Psalm 23:2-3, 4,6 Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! 2-3 He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors him the most. 4 Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid , for you are close beside me , guarding, guiding all the way. 6 Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life , and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.

  9. The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you:
The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

    Numbers 6:24-26
I am sending this prayer to everyone who is participating in this and for their families also. May we all experience the peace that passes all understanding, even if only in moments of our days and lives.

  10. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

  11. Good morning Kay. I had all ready picked out Psalm 27:4, One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my Life To behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple. NASB I like through 8 though that you picked so will try to memorize all the verses.

  12. Kay, because of you I have a closer relationship with Christ. Thank you.

My verse for March 5, 2023
    Isaiah 40: 29-31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak…
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  13. Hi, my name is Allison and I’m in Houston, Tx. My verse this week is:

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:24 NIV

  14. Psalm 46: 8-10 The Message
Attention, all! See the marvels of God!
He plants flowers and trees all over the earth,
Bans war from pole to pole,
breaks all the weapons across his knee.
“Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
    above politics, above everything.”

I lived life at a pace. For years it seemed every time I opened a card it said, “Be still and know that I am God”. The concept of being “still” wasn’t something I understood until I read it in the message. “Stepping out of the traffic and looking at God” made complete sense. It’s good to be reminded and meditate on this again.

  15. I chose Psalm 27:13-14, because I need hope.

“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”

  16. Meditation and Memory verses that spoke to me was 1 John 5:14, 15, This is the confidence which we have before Him that, if we ask anything according to HIs will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. (NASB). Its a reminder to me that I need to pray in God’s will and not ask for my own will.

  17. Your prayer for us is beautiful, Kay!
In keeping with passages with my word for the year, victorious, my verse is
    1 Corinthians 9:24
You know that in a race all the runners run but only one wins the prize, don’t you? You must run in such a way that you may be victorious. ISV

  18. Set your affection on things above, not on things of the earth Colossians 3:2 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you? I Corinthians 3:16

  19. Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is my stronghold—of whom shall I be afraid?

  20. JOHN 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

  21. For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

    Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV

  22. A good verse for Lent:
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 RSV

  23. Genesis 1:27 (NKJV)

“So God created man in His own image
In the image of GodHe created him,
Male and female He created them”

  24. John 6:40
“For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

  25. James 1: 19-20 NIV

My dear brothers and sisters take note of this. Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

  26. Hi, Kay,
Here is the verse that I have been meditating on for the past 2 weeks-
    Psalm 85 verse 8
I will hear what God the Lord will speak,
For He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; but let them not turn back to folly.

    Gillian( Scotland)

  27. Philippeans 4:19

But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory through Christ Jesus.

  28. “I have asked one thing from the Lord. This I will seek: to remain in the Lord’s house all the days of my life in order to gaze at the Lord’s beauty and to search for an answer in his temple. He hides me in his shelter when there is trouble. He keeps me hidden in his tent. He sets me high on a rock. ⌞When you said,⌟ “Seek my face,” my heart said to you, “O Lord, I will seek your face.” ”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭4‬-‭5‬, ‭8‬ ‭

  29. Lately, I’ve noticed the tug of small resentment I’ve been holding towards some of my family and friends. I would like to try and clear the slate so to speak during this Lenten season. I want to heal and forgive those who may have caused my heart to shrink in injury or possible misunderstanding. I want to practice grace towards all, not just some.

You shall not bear hatred for your brother in your heart. Though you may have to reprove him, do not incur sin because of him. Take no revenge and cherish no grudge against your fellow countrymen. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
    Lev 19:17-18 NAB

  30. I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalms 32:8 NASB

  31. This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
    Joshua 1:9

  32. Today I chose Psalm 27:1
27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? KJV
For me, this is a scripture I want to commit to memory and say daily upon arising! Thanks for your commitment to helping us all grow spiritually, as well as emotionally and physically.

  33. The verse at the top of this post (Proverbs 31:25) struck me as being very appropriate for today. I have a lot of anxiety about the coming work week’s events and meeting people in person that I usually only engage with online. I need to remember who is in control, protecting and guiding me! He will give me the wisdom, strength and sense of humor that i need.

  34. My verse this week is about surrendering everything in my life to God-my worries, my doubts, my fears-by laying them down and trusting God.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

    Philippians 4:6

  35. Luke 4:10
For my son Jordan today and always❤
For it is written, He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you.

  36. “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.”. Psalm 51:10-13 NIV

  37. “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near, do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:5-7 (NIV)

  38. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you…”
    1 Peter 1:3-4 (ESV)

  39. All of us, gazing with unveiled faces on the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory
    2 Corinthians 3:18 NAB

  40. The world has become so angry, divisive, and broken. It is easy to get caught up in the constant finger-pointing and us against them mentality. However, Jesus has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light to be a light to a dark world. The impact of one lit candle in a dark room is remarkable. I chose this verse to remind me that in an increasingly evil world, goodness is magnified. I want to be a light to the world.

Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.
    Romans 12:21 NKJV

  41. Psalm 33:20-22
Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in Him, because we trust in His holy name.
Let Your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in You.

I’m grouping these 3 together….. because how can one stop at just one verse! And actually, the entirety of Psalm 33 would be beneficial for me to memorize. Maybe I’ll continue on with it in the months ahead. But it’s actually quite like me to read “the end of the book first”! There’s something in me that wants to know “this ends well”! All thru Psalm 33 we see life playing out…. there are times of joy and praise and thankfulness and singing (v.1-3) Then in v.4-9 it’s almost like the psalmist sets the stage for the realities of life we find in v.10-17. V.4-9 reminds us of who our God is and how He works and what He loves and how He is creator God … He spoke and it came to be! My safest place is being reminded of God’s sovereignty and power, and then resting in His control!!! Because the reality of v.10-17 recognizes that life is hard— the counsel of nations and the plans of people— and God looks down, He sees. He knows the deeds of man. Salvation won’t come from great armies, great strength, or the like! These are false hopes! They are not our rescue! But the big finish— v.18-22 Behold the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His steadfast love, that He may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine.

But v.20 (my memory verse) reminds me,…. life is not necessarily a quick fix!!
v.20 Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. (Hmmmm…. do I even have to have my situation “fixed”— He IS my fix! Is just having Him enough?!!)
V.21 For our heart is glad in Him, because we trust in His holy name. v.22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in You.

  42. Proverbs 16:9 “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord estsblishes his steps.”
This verse reminds me that my way is not the best way. I need to keep my focus on Him.

  43. Hi from Brandywine, WV. My memory verses are a continuation of being able to recall verses from scripture that I can use to be of help to any unbeliever who may be in search of the Good News. Therefore today I have two verses from the Gospel of John to memorize:
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 ESV)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 3:16 ESV)
Thank you, Kay for encouraging me in this and so many other ways as well. Love you, Jane

  44. Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…. Romans 12:2 NIV

I have been struggling with my chronic illnesses and keeping up with the housework. This passage reminds me that I don’t need to keep a Pinterest-worthy clean home while I am not feeling well. Good enough is just fine, AND it leaves me with enough energy to spend time in God’s word.

  45. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

I try to say this every morning to remember to be thankful for another day in God’s beautiful world.

  46. “Teach me your way, Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.” Psalm 86:11-12

    Y’all have a great week!

  47. Well, this scripture is great for me . . . it is a meditative gem and to pray on it to be the PRIORITY will nourish my soul!

  48. Isaiah 40:30,31 ESV
“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted, but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
I’m continuing in the same passage from my last post. Thank you, Kay, for this challenge. Meditating on the Scripture has been so helpful in keeping my thoughts focused on the Lord and all of Who He is as well as His glorious promises!

  49. “Why are the nations restless and the peoples plotting in vain?
The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers conspire together against the Lord and His Anointed saying,
‘Let’s tear their shackles apart and throw their ropes away from us!'”
The Psalms Book 1 Verses 2:1-2:3
    New American Standard Bible (NASB)

  50. My prayer for week 5: 1 John 3:1 ESV See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
    Love and angel blessings

  51. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4 NKJV

This was not the verse I was planning on memorizing this cycle, but today, when I read it during my devotional time, it was the one I felt lead to. It is perfect for this season of my life.

  52. Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that man should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12 KJV

  53. Still working on Ephesians 6:10-18 NASB
    Verses 15-16 this week
… and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.

  54. I am continuing to learn Proverbs 31:10-31, last time I focused on the verse 10 and the next two weeks I will study verse 11, “And her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life.” I memorize slow so this is the best way for me, one verse at a time.

  55. Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not faint.

I am finding such comfort and strength in hiding God’s Word in my aching heart as my husband recently went home to be with Jesus.

  56. I have always loved the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel and how she dealt so quickly to save both her foolish husband from destruction and David from committing a grave sin he would have regretted later.
One gets the idea that the servants were used to coming to her, and she was used to dealing with situations her foolish husband created. It must have been an arranged marriage, because it makes no sense that Abigail would have chosen such a husband for herself!
Anyway, I started thinking about how best to deal with fools and found this in Proverbs 26:4-5 “4 Don’t answer a fool according to his foolishness or you’ll be like him yourself. 5 Answer a fool according to his foolishness or he’ll become wise in his own eyes.” I teach at a junior high, and spring brings out a lot of foolishness in some students! There will be times I must correct misbehavior, which students do not appreciate, but I will not allow myself to be drawn into silly arguments and start sounding as foolish as those students sound.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. Jan Silvious wrote a wonderful book called Foolproofing Your Life based on these passages. Worth a read. And we named our daughter Abigail after this courageous and wise woman in 1 Samuel. 🙂

  57. Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless you, and keep you:
The Lord make His face shine on you,
    and be gracious to you:
The Lord lift up His countenance on you.
    And give you peace.

Each week we sing this at the end of our worship service.

  58. Exodus 18:23

If you do this Thing and God so commands you,
Then you will be able to endure.

  59. “And they sang a new song, saying,

‘Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.'” Revelation 5:9 & 10

  60. “Lord, strengthen my inner being by the promises of your word so that I may live faithful and unashamed of you.
Lift me up and I will be safe.
Empower me to live every moment in the light of your ways.”
    Psalm 119:116-117
    Passion Translation

  61. Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

  62. Oh Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. Isaiah 25:1 (NIV)

  63. Esther 4:14. I am sitting with the idea of God’s timing and that God arranges your steps and your stops. Sometimes a delay is actually Gods perfect timing.
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

  64. My verse for the week of March 5th, John 21:15-17 RSV, Great Adventure Bible
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ He said to him, “Yes Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs”. A second time he said to him, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the the third time “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”

There is so much packed into these verses that I can’t adequately describe it here. I just love dialogue between Jesus and Simon Peter.

  65. Psalm 139:16
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalms 139:16

  66. I love your verse choices for this week Kay and was tempted to change mine. What a privilege to dwell in God’s presence.
I decided to stick with choice as I also need to rejoice and be glad every morning. It takes me a while to wake up and get going. I want to encourage my spirit to start the day right. My verse:
This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118‬:‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  67. Proverb 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. NIV

I feel that this verse will tie in with my verse from last week, Psalms 143:8, to show me the way I should go. I’m at a point in my life where I am trying to discern what my next steps should be. I will turn it over to the Lord and focus on these verses. Thank you, Kay, for this group. <3

  68. Today in SS my teacher suggested John 14:21 would be a good verse to memorize, so I took that as an assignment from God!
He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him. John 14:21 NASB

  69. I’m late posting! Here is my verse, a favorite for all VBS and Sunday school kids, but in our gospel reading today. I especially wanted to include the second part, since that’s what spoke to me this morning.
    John 3:16-17 NRSV
For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

  70. Romans 12:12 Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. I find myself praying much more than in past years due to our current world circumstances. I’m sure aging is a part of that, too.

  71. Proverbs 11:24-25 MSG
24 The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. 25 The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.

I chose this verse because my prayer is to become more generous with my giving in all areas of my life.

  72. Psalm 28:7
    The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    My heart trusts in him,
    and he helps me.
    My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.
It helps me when I feel overwhelmed to say the Lord is my strength. And I love music so this reminds me that with my songs I will praise God!

  73. Happy is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill the promises he made to her.
    Luke 1:45

  74. MV5 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God, whoever continues
in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 1:9 NIV

  75. Mark 12:30 “And you must love the Lord your God with all you heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.

  76. Hello sweet friends!
    My verse this time is
    Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
    (ESV)
What comforting and encouraging words from our Lord!

  77. “Do not be afraid (Tricia) . I am your shield, your GREAT reward”. Genesis 15: 1 Yes, God you are indeed my great reward! You are my helper when I need help; You are my hope when I have no hope; You are my shining light when I can see your hand; You are my living water when I am bone dry! You are all I need when I am at the end of myself! Thank you Mighty GOD

  78. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Acts 17:11.

  79. In Oregon:
Still working on January/February text: Ephesians 6:13-18
    February attempts failed several times.
    March will be better.
    Praying for this group.

  80. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I will help you.”
    Isaiah 41:13

  81. John 15:5 (ESV)
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

  82. “My son do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. Proverbs 3:11 & 12

  83. Ephesians 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. KJV

  84. This is the verse that spoke to me this week: Joshua 1:9:

“This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

  85. The verse speaking to my heart, and which I’ll reflect on the next two weeks is “2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

Your choice of verse, Kay, speaks to me too. Thanks so much for doing this!

  86. From The Message Bible~
Light-seeds are planted in the souls of God’s people,
Joy-seeds are planted in good heart-soil.
So, God’s people, shout praise to God,
Give thanks to our Holy God! Psalm 97:11-12

  87. “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you will call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you see me with all your heart.”

    Jeremiah 29:11-13

  88. Hi! This is Patti from Iowa. I have chosen Galatians 6:10, As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10.

  89. Oh, if we would always remember that God delights in us, might it change how we feel about ourselves.

Psalm 18:16-19 NLT ~ He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.

  90. My passage is Joshua 1:9:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

    NIV

  91. 2Corinthians 4:16-17-“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. The things that seem so troublesome need to be put in perspective with eternity. I have to remember that when the day presses in. Oh, and thanks, Kay, for helping us not to “waste away” any quicker than we have to!

  92. Galatians 2:20-21

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.

  93. “So then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you may do, do all for the honor and glory of God.” I Corinthians 10:31

  94. Philippians 4:4. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Short and sweet. I’m using this with my lovely granddaughter.

  95. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. ~ Galatians 5:22-23

  96. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am you God.
    I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

    Isaiah 41:10 NIV

  97. Esther 4:14, ESV
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

  98. My scripture is Isaiah 30:15 NIV
This is what the Sovereign Lord the Holy One, of Israel says: In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

I didn’t want to choose this scripture, but this is the one the Lord gave me. I have come to realize that even though I have been His a long time, I have trust issues. I never completely trust anyone, and He has been showing me that I hold back that trust even with Him. And how can I truly release my faith if I don’t trust?

  99. Thank you Kay. You have brought me to the scriptures daily and that has not happened before. I was looking at scriptures regarding condemnation of false prophets . . . then I realized it was me that needed to be changed.

    Luke 6:37 NET
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.

  100. I have a dear friend who is in need of healing from our Heavenly Father. I woke up early to pray (because a serious medical test is being done today). This is the scripture that just popped up
Jesus said… “ ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who ask receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matt 7:7 – 8.

  101. Proverbs 21:21 – NLT – “Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness and honor.

  102. I am studying the fruits of the Spirit; specifically kindness. I am reminded that Christ is my example of kindness. Showing kindness is an action that requires me to reach out to others, even those I might not normally reach out to. Ephesians 4:32 (KJV) says “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

  103. Matthew 16:24-26 (NAS)

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

  104. Continuing in Psalm 34and looking at verse 5, “They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed.”
When a believer looks to the Lord for comfort, for guidance and instruction, his or her face will radiate with the unashamed glow of looking full faced at the Son. When we look to and focus on something we shouldnt be, we are vulnerable to having our faces burn with the shame of doing so. One way or another, our faces will reflect what we gaze upon.
Will you radiate from the glow of being with your Savior? Or will you blush with embarrassment when caught focusing on what you know you shouldn’t? Lets look to Him!

  105. Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you Isaiah 41:10

  106. Teach me Your way, Lord
I will walk in Your truth
Unite my heart to fear Your name

I will give thanks to You, Lord my God
With all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forever
    Ps 86:11-12 NASB

  107. Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light.
    Matthew 11:28-30 NIV

  108. Joel 2:25 (NKJV)
“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.”

  109. “The one thing I ask of the LORD-the thing I seek most-is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’S perfections and meditating in His Temple. My heart has heard You say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.” Ps 27:4,8 NLT

  110. Proverbs 9:11 NKJV

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook transgression.

    discretion: wisdom and intelligence

  111. “…..as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4(NKJV)

  112. I’m choosing Psalm 139:16
    16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Just trying to remember that the Lord is in charge of all my days!

  113. I have fallen behind but I’m not giving up. I still need to finish memorizing my 3rd verse.
2 Cor. 12:9-10 But he said to me, “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak then I am strong.

  114. Hello from Vancouver BC. I hadn’t thought about a verse this week, but reading Kay’s selection inspires me to seek the face of the Lord in everyone I meet.

  115. Habakkuk 3:19 NAS

The Lord God is my strength, and He has made my feet like hinds feet, and makes me walk on my high places.

  116. My verse is:

  120. Psalm 27:4 is a verse my country church used to sing as a chorus a cappella when I was a young teen. I can never recite it;I have to sing 🎶 it! I am choosing this as my verse this week. Adding verse 8 is quite beautiful, but alas,no music.

  122. “ For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke1:37 ESV
This is a simple verse that speaks volumes!

  123. In an effort to hear the Word in a new way, I am choosing some favourite verses but in a different translation.

    Matthew 10:30-31 The Voice

You beloved, are worth so much more than a whole flock of sparrows. God knows everything about you, even the number of hairs on your head. So do not fear.

  124. I forgot to post my last verse. It was ‘Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?’ 2 Corinthians 13:5

This time my verse is: ‘’The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, because the LORD is the one who holds his hand.’ Psalms 37:23-24

  129. Psalm 73:26 (NIV)

My scripture memory verse is Philippians 4:6-7.
Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. KJV

  131. Romans 3:24
I love the book of Romans; though are sins are many, His mercy is more!! Grace and righteousness come through Jesus’ death on the cross!

  132. My verse this week is Phillipians 2:14 (TLB) In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing.

  133. I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and my horn of salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD who is worthy to be praised and I am saved from my enemies.
    PS 18:1-3

  136. Philippians 4:8
…”whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

In this world, it is so easy for me to become negative in my thought process. So my verse this week is to help me always focus on the good.

  137. My verse for the next 2 weeks is Ezekiel 33:31 NIV “My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.”

This verse stepped on my toes. How many times do I hear God’s Word, profess to know it but don’t put it into practice? More times than I care to admit. Pray that I will practice what I hear from God’s Word.

  138. Nancy from Missouri
    II Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

  139. Psalms 121

    A song of ascents.

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
    3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
    5 The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
    7 The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

  140. I waited to post until I had time to read all of the Scripture shared. Thank you. My verse is from the beginning of the passage on the armor God, Ephesians 6:10- Finally, my brethren (sisters!j be strong in the LORD and the power of His might.

My health comets from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepth thee will not slumber.
Behold, He that keepth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

  145. The verse I chose this week was in the front of a book I am reading. I don’t know what version it is, but want to meditate on it as I prepare for the next firey trial.

“These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold-and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
    – 1 Peter 1:7

  146. Staying in James – so much to absorb.
Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

  151. James 1:13-15 When tempted; no one should say God is tempting me, for god can not be tempted with evil nor does He tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when by his own evil desire he is dragged away and enticed. Then after desire has conceived it gives birth to son. And sin when if us full grown gives birth to death.

  152. I’m using the CSB this week and my verses are from
    1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.

  153. I am joining you all in Psalm 27:4,8 NASB, one of my favorites.
One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord
And to meditate in His temple.
When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “I shall seek Your face, Lord.”

  154. No temptation has overtaken me except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not allow me to be tempted beyond what I can bear. But when I am
tempted, He will also provide a way out so I can endure it. (I Cor. 10:13 NIV 2011 personalized).
This is a season of deep cleaning by Holy Spirit in our country and in our churches and in our individual lives. He wants my whole heart and He wants to partner with me to give my Whole heart to Him. So this is a wonderful strengthener to focus on victory even in hard times. I want to use and to pray it for others.

  155. Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
    NLT

  156. Matthew 7: 24-25
“Anyone who hears my words and puts them into practice is like the wise man who built his house on rock. When the rainy season set in, the torrents came and the winds blew and buffeted his house. It did not collapse; it had been solidly set on rock.”

Peace to you all, ladies. I hope you’re enjoying this holy season.

  157. My verse this time is John 14:27
Peace I leave you. My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled nor fearful.
Hope everyone had a great week!

  158. I am still working on Psalm 40 and am on verse 11. “Do not thou, O Lord, withhold thy mercy from me, let they steadfast love and thy faithfulness ever preserve me.”

    Katy

  159. A Godly example as a mother:

Be therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.
    Ephesians 5:1,2

  160. Mark 13:33 – Watch! Be alert! For you don’t know when the time is coming… A reminder to myself to watch for the Lord every day and for opportunities to do his work.

My verses are …. Psalm 37: 3-4. Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
I love this passage, and long ago I studied them, memorized them, and taught about them in a women’s small group at church. I can still vividly remember how importantly and timely they applied to my life’s situation at that moment. Interesting how God leads us back to his familiar words just when we need it most.
On the Monday morning following our last memory challenge Sunday, I was sitting with my Bible and my stack on study guides for my quiet time, thinking I had not yet recorded my next memory in my little album.. I picked up my copy of a sweet daily devotional book that was first published in 1884.. The writings our old and beautiful.. When I turned to that day’s reading, it was these verses again…. and a lovely little poem that encouraged readers to build a fence around today, not worry about tomorrow, for God will help us bear whatever comes, either joy or sorrow.. Moments after finishing my quiet time, I received word that a very dear friend had passed away the night before… I was instantly full or sorrow, and tears that would not stop..She was my friend and my assistant at my office.. it was a difficult week, but the truths of God.s word had led me to today, are now there is joy in my heart. God is good, and she is home with Him..

  163. John 14:27 (NIV)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

My mother passed away this week following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. I was privileged to be at her side during her final days and at the sacred moment when she took her last breath and passed into the presence of Jesus. She was peaceful in her final hours as we sang hymns and read John 14 aloud. These words from our Lord Jesus have given me comfort in the succeeding days.

    1. I’m so very sorry for your loss, Cindy. God bless you and your family as you walk through this time of grief. I’m glad you were able to be at her side as she passed into glory.

  164. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church, and in Christ Jesus, to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 NASB

    Our God is so good!

  165. I’m late in getting this done but here it is….Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;…”Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord that you may fulfill it.” Colossians 4:2 &17

  166. “Call upon Me in the day of trouble,I will deliver you, band you shall honour Me” Psalm 50 verse 15.

    Gillian Greer -Scotland

I need to be constantly reminded to call to my Father.

  167. Proverbs 3:7-Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are: simply obey the Lord and refuse to do wrong.

  168. As He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

    My verse is
    Psalm 27: 4,8, NASB
One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.
When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You,
“I shall seek Your face, Lord.”

  171. James 1;19 My dear brothers take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen; slow to speak and slow to become angry,
