Scripture Meditation & Memory at DFMD 2023

Hi sweet Sisters. I got us out of schedule during May because I accidentally posted on the fifth Sunday in April. Make sense? So I’m getting us back onto our 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month today. We’ll be adding the 11th scripture to our albums today and at the end of June, half way through the year, we’ll have 12 of our 24 scriptures in our albums.

My 11th Scripture

I was recently asked in an interview to share my personal “words to live by.” I was stumped. I don’t have a pithy statement that I chart my course by, and I assumed that’s what the interviewer wanted. I did stay true to my faith and shared that I wanted to know God better every day and make Him know. But that got me to thinking…did I have a scripture that would describe my life goals and help me stay focused each day?

Well, the Lord answered that desire. Just two days later I came across a familiar verse that resonated with me. And not only that, but Dr. Charles Stanley had written in my Life Principles Daily Bible that this statement from Jesus could be considered “the believer’s emancipation proclamation.” I’m not big on assuming such things are signs, but I already knew that truly the Word of God coupled with the power of Christ, who is the Word made flesh, has been the only thing that has again and again set me free from the snares of this world. Thus, I added John 8:31b-32 to my album and declared it my “words to live by.”

“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

~ John 8:31b-32, NASB

It’s interesting to me that some of the people who heard Jesus speak these empowering and gracious words took offense. They didn’t believe they were in bondage to anything, so they didn’t need to be freed.

But my experience is that anything in this world can imprison you if you let it. And all too often I have allowed pursuits, relationships, unforgiveness, bitterness, compulsive habits, self-loathing and the lies I believed to ensnare me. The enemy seeks to keep us in bondage, and part of his scheme is to convince us that we are already free…when really we are shackled to lies and defeating beliefs.

And in every case the only thing that set me free was crying out to the Lord and then filling my mind and heart with truth from His Word. This very exercise that we have commenced this year is what keeps me sane…and free. Not only has meditating on scripture set me free from addictions and co-dependencies, but it has kept me out of chains and walking in the freedom Christ paid for on my behalf.

So the scripture I’m adding to my album is John 8:31b-32. Are these words to live by? You betcha. Of course I will continue to live by every word found in the Word of God. But next time someone asks me for my words to live by I can confidently say, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” And in this present age, I think that is saying something.

I look forward to reading your scriptures that you’re adding to your albums this week. Remember, I read and treasure every comment. I’m on vacation in Maine this week, so I may not hop on here until later. But I am so grateful that you are doing this with me. Have a great week!

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Good Sunday morning! And greetings to you and other visitors to our rainy Maine this day.

I’m so sorry that it is raining once again on your vacation here…. We sure do need the rain though.

I thought I would add a couple of verses about the sun that are in the Bible for a little
Pick me up on this rainy day: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield”
And “The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night”….there sure won’t be any smiting going on this week here ;0) but I hope you can visit museums and take some nice walks when you’re here despite the weather!

  2. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
    Psalm 46:10

  3. In the same way, let you light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Trying to keep focused in the challenges (not show stoppers) of my life , allowing the Holy Spirit to work, moving forward in such a way that brings praise to God

  4. In the late ’60’s and early ’70’s I attended a college based on Christian principles and your verse, esp. verse 32, was their “motto”. This is one verse that has meant so much during my early Christian years and still resonates with me. So thank you for this.
If you abide in my word you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. John 8: 31b-32 (ESV)

  5. I love this verse.
“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

  6. You shall love the Lord your God with all your soul, and with all your strength…amen…
    Deuteronomy 6 (5) NKJV

  7. Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.
    Selah
    Psalm 68:19 KJV
The Holy Spirit awoke me with this verse this morning. I haven’t even read or heard this verse in a very long time. And it was the King James version specifically! Lol!
I am going thru difficulties right now. But God’s Word is true.

    1. I love how the Lord brings verses to our mind when we need them. He even has brought secular songs to my mind that helped remind me of Him!

  8. Kay, enjoy your vacation!! My husband and I just completed a two week road trip- 4,050 miles!! We are blessed to live in this beautiful country. The purpose of the trip was to visit friends and family that we had not been with in many years. Therefore my verse selection is:

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 17:17

Thank you as always for this Bible journey. Nina

  9. Hebrews 9:28 (NIV)
“ So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”

  10. I’m about to finish Psalms. The other day I glanced ahead, scanned over quickly the last Psalm. It is a beautiful Psalm: exuberant, uplifting, glorifying God. But, specifically, I noticed the last verse of the last Psalm; It represents how happy I feel that summer is here!

    Psalm 150:6 NAB
Let everything that has breath give praise to the Lord! Hallelujah!

  11. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

  12. I chose this verse because I have been through a lot this year-ocular melanoma and now facing major surgery (June 26th to remove huge cysts on my ovaries and possible hysterectomy-prayers appreciated if you feel led). I am thinking of starting a cancer support group to support people emotionally and healthwise. I am doing pretty well, but the scans every three months to see if I metastasized are draining emotionally, I have one this Wednesday. I would love to be in a support group. This verse summarizes what I would like to do.

“Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” II Corinthians 1:4

This will be a verse I will meditate on for my scan- “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.” Psalm 112:7.
    Blessings to you all.

    1. I’m praying for you Karin. The support group sounds wonderful, but in the meantime, know that the “sisters of Kay” will lift you up.

    2. Karen,

I am going to use your verse: He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. Psalm 112:7
My husband has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we are waiting to hear if it is operable. I will be praying for you as well.

      1. Abbey, I am praying hard that your husband’s cancer will be operable and result in a miraculous recovery. Be Still and Know…

      2. Abbey Ive been praying for your husband and you since you told us about his Biopsy. I hope his cancer is operable 🙏🏻❤️🤗Love , Hugs and Strength to you both Xx

        1. Karin
Many prayers for you. May you feel God’s peace and know you are in the palm of His hand.

    3. Father God I thank you that we can come boldly before you in our times of need. Father I bring Karin’s needs before you. I ask that her scans be clear. I pray you give peace while you are working. And I pray that you will provide the opportunity for Karin to partake or start a support group. In Jesus name, Amen.

    4. Prayers for you Karin for healing and strength that comes from our Father. “For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not, I will help the. Isaiah 41:13.

    5. Praying for your surgery to be successful Karin 🙏🏻Love and Hugs too❤️🤗. You are right to want to start a Support Group. When you are going through something Devastating you need a ‘Tribe’ around you who are going through the same to talk, confide, scream, shout, and laugh with❤️Xx

  13. “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31b-32 NASB

  14. I chose Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

  15. Good morning sweet ladies,

My verse is from 2 Timothy I:7

For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.

    Happy vacay Kay!

  16. “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to My teachings. And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31b-32 NLT

  17. I chose Jeremiah 32:27 that a friend shared with me as we go through a difficult time with my husbands Parkinson’s disease.

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?”

    Beth

    1. Prayers that your husband can rise up against the snares of Parkinson disease. God’s blessings to you both.

    2. Beth saying prayers for your husband going through Parkinsons 🙏🏻Love and Hugs too❤️🤗Xx

      1. Dear Kym,

Thank you so much for your prayers and kind words. May God richly bless you for your compassion. ❤️

        Beth

    3. Beth, my husband has Parkinson’s as well. My prayer for you is; “l can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Phil. 4:19 and for your husband; “Bless the Lord, O My Soul…who healers all thy diseases.” Ps. 103: 1-3

      1. Dear Nina,

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement. I will pray for you and your husband as well. May God strengthen you and give you His peace. Beth

  18. Hi Kay,
I’ve begun a Fitness program June 1st through year-end so I want to think about how I fill my days; with good things that will profit me or with time wasting things?

    Psalm 90:12:
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

    1. Nancy so pleased you have started your Fitness Programme to help you get your Health back , Onwards and Upwards ❤️Xx

  19. Psalm 106:48 (NAB – New American Bible)
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Let all the people say, Amen! Hallelujah!”

  20. My heart goes out to the ladies here facing very challenging circumstances with such courage. Grace and peace be with you.

I’ve been thinking about the Bible characters who didn’t realise that Lord had left them, particularly King Saul and Samson. A reading in The Word for Today (UK) recently warned about neglecting God and slipping back into old ways. I also saw a review of a book on the same theme in an old magazine I was flipping through. It’s so easy to go off course, and the older we get perhaps the diversions multiply without our realising it.

My verse is “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Hebrews 2:1 NIV.

I am so thankful for the discipline of contributing to this group. Thank you Kay and everyone.

  21. My choice of scripture: Mark 10:27 (MEV)

Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God. For with God all things are possible.”

A reminder for me. That when my husband and I have done all we can to help our daughter, who has mental health challenges, we can hand our struggle over to God, who can do all things

    1. Susan, I pray that God’s light will fill your daughter’s heart, mind and soul with abundant joy and happiness that you will see radiate in her every smile:) With God All Things Are Possible

    2. Susan lots of prayers and Love and Hugs to your daughter and you and your husband 🙏🏻❤️🤗Xx

  22. After a fabulous May full of fun and adventures I am smacked down with a mega symptoms flare up. Because of this I have chosen a passage that references rest, and reminds me to stop fighting what my heart, soul and body NEED.

This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Isreal says: “In repentace and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it….” Isaiah 30:15 NIV

      1. Of course, Karen! I hope that you find a support group, or start one that suits your needs. Check on Facebook, Mighty Networks, or even NextDoor. I belong to some oddly specific pain support groups in all of those places.

  23. I am using your verse as it spoke to me.
If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and
The truth shall make you free.
    John 8:31b-32 NKJV
I am going to be in Bar Harbor middle of June, sorry you are getting the rain and hoping it is gone before we arrive.

  24. I will gratefully use your verse. With changes happening in my life and daily routine I know I need to stay in the Word to stay grounded and at peace.

  25. That really resonated with me. I had another verse picked out, but will save it for next time.

    11. “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”John‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬b-32 NLT‬

  26. My life verse is from Colossians 1:10-13. We pray…that you may you may live a life worthy of the Lord and May please him in every way; bearing fruit, growing in the knowledge of God. …

This verse helps to keep me focused.

  27. Praise be to the Lord, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
    Psalm 144 verse 1

  28. Hi all .. My scripture for the week is:

‘For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-control.’ – 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV))

  29. “She surveys a field and acquires it; from her own resources, she plants a vineyard. She works energetically; her arms are powerful.” Proverbs 31:16-17.

We can accomplish anything once we put our mind to it

  30. Jeremiah 9: 23-24 (NIV) This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth for in these I delight, declares the LORD.”

  31. For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.Phil.2:13

  32. “I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

This Bible verse has been on my heart, as I have gone through some difficult times with my daughter’s illness.

  33. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper, the waves of the sea were hushed. Psalm 107:28-29.

  34. let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father, which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 KJV

  35. Yes I have decided to join you in hiding John 8:31b-32 in my heart. However, I’m staying with the NIV version.
It says, John 8:31b-32, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31b-32.
Thank you for this challenge. It is helping me to meditate more on His Word and applying it to my own life every day. Praise the Lord! Thank you Kay!
    Enjoy your time in Maine.

  36. I love reading all the comments and verses these women have shared. I will also be praying for those who expressed a need. My verse today is from 1st Peter 4:8 which includes “for love covers a multitude of sins.” As His love covers my sin, I pray to love and therefore, cover the sin of others. Thank you for this inspiration.

  37. I don’t get to spend as much time with my children and grandchildren because distance separates us. But what I need to teach them above all in these times is to love God above all.

My verses this week are Deuteronomy 6 5-7
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

  38. Sherry from Minnesota here. Really liked the Bible verse you picked out this time. John 8:31-32. I have had to work on loving people lately so I picked out I Corinthians 13: 4-7 The beginning of the verses Love is patient, love is kind (finish reading through the verses to get all the words) ( did not want to type it all as the day is almost over).

  39. Reading thru the comments and seeing the prayer requests for women facing fearful situations, I am reminded of this verse from Numbers 6:25-26. “ The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace”. It’s my prayer for all who need the Lord’s graciousness and peace, may His healing power be present for you.

  40. Thank you for this testimony Kay! I had a plan for my next verse but events from this past week have convinced me that I need that same Scripture to be embedded in my heart. I will make this mine for the next two weeks, too.

  41. “Whom can I speak to? Whom can I give a warning to? Who will listen? Their ears are plugged, and they aren’t able to pay attention. When the Lord speaks his word to them, they show contempt for it and object to it.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬ ‭

  42. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
    Psalms 143:10

  43. Yours is a great, great verse, Kay! My Life Group class discussed that very one a few weeks ago, including the verses leading up to it. Thanks for that reminder.

My choice for Week 11 is Psalm 138:8 which lead me to think of Philippians 1:6. I’m meditating on both.

Psalm 138:8 ESV – The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

Philippians 1:6 ESV – And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

  44. The tongue has the power of life and death and those that love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21NIV

Helps to remind me to watch what I say and be as kind and loving in my words as I can be.

  45. My verse is from Romans 13:1. “ Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.” There are new people in authority that have been hard for me to accept and honor, but I am called to honor my God and those whom He has established. Working on it. And, after almost 6 months, it is getting easier. God is a kind teacher.

  46. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied- but did not do so again. Numbers 11:25

  47. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. NIV

  48. Psalm 4:8 (NKJV)

    “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety”

  49. I often plan to study my scripture and spend time with my mind and heart totally fixed on God, then I find myself distracted. I find other tasks to complete, and my mind wanders from the Lord. I must be reminded to keep my focus on God so that He can lead me in His ways.

” I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” – Psalm 16:8 NIV

  50. Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:1b (NASB)

Hope your vacation is wonderful and refreshing!!!

  51. Hi – my verse this week is Psalm 34:19 The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.

  52. Kay, I love these verses you picked for today! So very true! It’s so important to stay in God’s word, reflect on it, and try to make it visible for others to see in us! Hope you’re enjoying your vacation!

“Thank God for his Son—A gift too wonderful for words.” 2 Corinthians 9:15

  53. We are studying Genesis at the moment in our church cycle. “Then God said “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees of every kind and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seeds in it. And God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1 11-!2 (NRSV)

So many people do not have access to healthy food, or any food due to fires, floods, earthquakes and environmental devastation. As I tend to the vegetables in my garden, I remember to give thanks that I have access to food at all times, whether grown or purchased.

  54. If you continue in My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free. John 8:31b-32

I treasure this verse for the same reasons in your blog entry. It is also a wonderful verse for intercession 🙂

DFMD is a favorite, and on DFMD, the spiritual insights are my favorit-est of all! Thank you.

  55. In keeping with my word for the year, victorious, my verse is 1 John 5:4 For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]. [AMP]

  56. Psalm 34:18
The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
I lost my dear sweet sister, Janice, on May 26th to a very fast and aggressive glioblostoma brain tumor at only 69 years old. I have no words to describe the loss I feel, but I am praying that God stays near to our family right now, especially her loving son. Time has stood still as we watched her pain and suffering, and as we now take a small step forward, we truly need Our Father to lead us down our earthly path without her by our side. Your prayers will truly help light our path.

    1. Loss is so difficult and the pain some days seems overwhelming, praying God will give you and your family comfort and peace. Her legacy will be you all living your best life honoring God. Take care, my prayers will be with you.

      1. Thank you so much, Cathy. You are so right that a life honoring God will be the greatest honor we can bestow while seeking His comfort that we need so desperately.

    2. Helena, I’m so sorry to hear about your sister. I lost my only sister 16 years ago and truly understand the depth of your sorrow. You and your family will be in my prayers 🙏💕🙏

      1. I am very sorry you lost your sister as well, Frani. It’s been 19 years since my mom passed, and I know you feel your sister’s loss every day as I do my mom’s. Her funeral is Thursday, and I seriously can’t imagine how I will get thru this great loss once again.

        1. Trust that God will give you the grace you need to get through each and every day. I’ll be thinking of you and praying for you, especially on Thursday as your sister goes home. Sending you love, hugs and lots of prayers. 🙏💕🙏

    3. Helena I am so sorry for the passing of Janice. I don’t have words that will bring the comfort, peace, and strength you and your family need at this time and in the days ahead. However, I know the One who supplies for all our needs according to His riches in glory and is our advocate who lives to make intercession on our behalf. I pray that He will be your comfort, peace, and strength and supply for all you need.

      1. Phyllis, your prayer means so much, thank you! I will hold on to the knowing that Our Lord is near and will help us carry this most painful grief and emptiness from our hearts.

    4. Helena words cannot express how sorry I am at you losing your lovely sister. Lots of Love and prayers for you and your family 🙏🏻❤️Xx

  57. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others. Phillipians 2:3 & 4

I have found memorizing and meditating on the scriptures i have chosen that they are coming to my mind at times I need them. How wonderful is that!!! So i want this one to help me keep the kind of attitude I should have. Have a wonderful week ladies!

  58. So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
    John 8:31-32

  59. Your verse spoke to me today, so I am choosing it for my eleventh verse.

“If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31b-32 (NASB)

  60. Matthew 28:18-19 “Jesus said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.'”

  61. More and more in today’s crazy world and corrupt governments, I felt this was a good bible selection to meditate on. If we are nearing or in the beginning of the end times, which I think we are, then we must be ready to stand strong in our faith against the evil that will come.

    THE ARMOR OF GOD:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes,
you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

    –EPHESIANS 6:10-13 (NIV)

      1. Thank you so much! For some reason I thought the newest comments were at the top as that’s where I saw one my first entries. Glad to know they are showing up and that it was “user error” in knowing where to look! 🙂

  62. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV)
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

  63. Going with Matt 5:16, ” Let your light so shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” have to be a witness, even without words. Makes more of an impact than words many times. Love the “sisters of Kay”!

  64. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Eph. 4:32 NAS

  65. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 2nd Timothy 6:12

  66. During the summer months, I enjoy the beautiful sunsets and the night skies. This verse speaks to me during this season.
    Psalm 19:1
“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.”
    And in the Living Bible:
“The heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvelous display of his craftsmanship.”

  67. I love this scripture verse. It is perfect for the times we are living in.

    Isaiah 33:6

“And He will be the security and stability of your times.
    A treasure of salvation, wisdom and knowledge;
The fear of the Lord is your treasure.💗”

  68. Psalm 31:3 Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

  69. The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
where morning dawns, where evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy. Psalm 65:8

  70. Hi Kay! Hope you are having an amazing time on your well-deserved vacation. My verse this week is:

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!” Psalm 91:1-2 NIV

  71. 10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

  72. Prov. 3:5&6 NIV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

  73. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer. John 16:33

    John 31b-32

  79. Hello! For some reason, I feel like my bi-weekly scripture postings have not been uploaded to the “conversation” . This happened again last evening. As of this this morning I do not see my posted scripture selection for the coming two weeks. Is it possibly somehow related to the “Akismet” software that processes the comments??? Any help would be so appreciated. Meanwhile, I am going to try and type in my scripture for week 11 once again in a new window.

  80. This week I have chosen verses related to putting on The Armor of God:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.”
    __Ephesians 6:10-13 (NIV)

  81. Hi Kay and ladies , Im so sorry at how late I an with this .

    Psalm 145:13 ( NLT)
For your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom. You rule throughout all generations . The LORD always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does.

    1. Kym, thank you so much for your prayers, hugs and love for our daughter, my husband and me. It is very kind and thoughtful.

  82. This verse speaks to me also! If you continue in my Word, then you are truly disciples of mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John 8:31-32

  83. I will join you in memorizing John 8:31b-32. I am finding this discipline of reading the Bible daily is grounding me in life and faith.

  84. Linda in Georgia
Psalms 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.

    1. Linda, thank you for this. It really spoke to me when I found myself in a certain situation which I later regretted and made me unduly anxious. I have already written it down for next time’s verse. Jan W in London

  85. My verse for this week is:

Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. Psalm 119:35

  86. I believe I’ll memorize the same verse as Kay. I wasn’t sure which verse I was going to use but after reading this it just spoke to me. Praying that as I strive to serve our mighty God, Jesus’ perfect truth will free me to be all that God intended me to be.

  87. Proverbs 31:13 Msg
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons and enjoys knitting and sewing.

I have enjoyed sewing since I was a young child. I took up quilting making over 30 years ago. I have made quilts for friends, family, babies, and my quilt guild’s various charities. However, God has twice really laid on my heart to make a quilt for two people. One was for a friend battling brain cancer who was Jewish and Jesus appeared to him in a dream (i did not know that). I was quilting a tree of life quilt and I felt the Holy Spirit 3 times tell me to give the quilt to Matt. I had my cousin deliver it to him because she was heading over there. His reaction and reply was “How did Cyndi know”? She said she knew you were ill” Know he said how did she know I was looking on line for a quilt!
The next time I felt the Holy Spirit say make Jason a quilt. He is our pastor. Two things he sometimes talks about is how warm he is even in the winter and how he loves Alaska where he did some missionary work. I had some fabric representing Alaska and our camping trip there. I gave him the quilt the other day and he said to me how did you know I wanted a quilt? He said he was visiting a friend of ours who I also had made a quilt for and had cancer. He told his wife one day it would be nice to have a quilt. LOL There are no coincidences with the LORD. Anyways, this scripture jumped out to me because sometimes I feel guilty about the large fabric, thread and sewing machines that I have. But, I have come to realize that God has blessed me with a way that I can bless others with something that I truly enjoy. Have a awesome vacation.

We should use whatever gift we have been given as an opportunity to serve others for the glory of God.

          PETER 4:10 NLT
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts . Use them well to serve one another.
          ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
          Love from Kym Xx

  88. I’m a day late getting this out, so here it goes. Philippians 4:6, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

  89. James 1:23-24
Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror, and after looking at himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

  90. This is my prayer, that my words and actions would be pleasing to God

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬

  91. Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.
And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.

    Have a great vacation Kay!

  92. My verse is,
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives:
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
There is no law against these things!”
    Galatians 5:22-23

  93. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.
    John 15:16-17

  94. Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you
The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.

  95. Deuteronomy 6 5
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

  96. “Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.” Revelation 16:15

This reminds me to live every day as if the Lord could come at any time. I want to be dressed in His Righteous and ready to meet Him on that Day.

  97. “Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet He bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.”

    Isaiah 53:12

  98. I love this group and the support offered here and this opportunity to learn scripture. I have remembered the verses and started out well with the references, but as time goes on I remember the book, but not the chapter or verse. I have to thank God for that progress.
I have had difficulty focusing since my surgery a month ago. The medication and now some anemia have left me less alert. I believe all this will pass and I will rejoice.
    My 11th verse is:
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 TIm 1:7 KJV

Sorry for the delay in submitting.

    1. Hi Phyllis Im pleased your hip surgery has gone well , but sorry to hear you aren’t focussing well , it will be the medication to blame ,but hopefully that won’t last long and you will be back to your best . Wishing you a speedy recovery 🙏🏻🤗❤️Xx

  99. My verse this time is 2 Samuel 22:31 “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection.”

  100. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing that I lack. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still water; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.

    Psalm 23 1-3

  101. I’m bringing up the rear this busy week!!!

“The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭160‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I want a reminder to myself… this Book is Truth! If I believe that and know that (and I do) and if I know this truth is FOREVER… then read it and obey it and follow it, Kathy!!! Call to myself toward discipline and diligence!!

  102. “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭105‬:‭4‬

  103. I will be meditating and memorizing the scriptures on the Armor of God in the NLT. I will start with Ephesians 6:13-14:
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.

  104. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  105. Barb from KY:
The weight of this world is particularly heavy on me in this season of my life. And this scripture memorization has certainly come to me as a lifeline. Thank you, Kay. This passage helps me to ‘get outside’ of myself when I’m feeling overwhelmed.

    Colossians 3:1-4 NIV
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

  106. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles 🦅. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

A good verse for strength, especially in times of trouble!

  107. John8 :31b-32
“If you continue in My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
I like the way this verse sums things up and how Kay was led to it as an answer to words from scripture to live by. Thank you, Kay!

  108. Thank you for your prayers. My husband’s results came back and it is non-Hodgkins lymphoma. But it’s Stage 1 and we caught it early. There is a 90% cure rate with 6 chemo treatments. We are hopeful and encouraged. God is good!
    My verse is:
“For Yahweh God is a sun and shield; Yahweh gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk blamelessly. O Yahweh of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in You!”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭84‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭LSB‬‬

    1. Praise the Lord! Praying for the treatments to get the job done, but to be manageable for your husband. Bless you both!

  109. Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish it’s work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
    James 1:2-4 NIV

  110. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)

  111. “Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭37‬ ‭ESV‬‬

  112. Good day, ladies! My scripture verse for the next two weeks is Ephesians 5:1,2

Be imitators of God as his dear children. Follow the way of love, even as Christ loved you. He gave himself for us as an offering to God, a gift of pleasing fragrance.

  113. “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31b-32 (NASB)

  114. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
    Romans 15:13

  115. Roamsn 12:19

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

  116. Cindy from Brownsburg, IN

John 1:1 (ESV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I’ve been spending some extra time this summer meditating and praying my way through the gospel of John. This verse says so much about Jesus, who is worthy of all my worship and love.

  117. I want to add my verse for Week 11, even though I am almost a week late. Yesterday I had an outpatient surgery, and I am humbly praying there will be no cancer. A survivor (five years) of liver cancer, I am so blessed by God’s grace. The verse I “found” or rather the verse God led me to was in Kay’s Blessed for My Day post of June 9th…
Acts 20:24. “ But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it to finish the work assigned to me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God “
Kay, your words encouraged me to take every opportunity to share how God has intervened in my life’s story so many times…. I want my story to be His story.
Please pray that I will always have the courage to speak His truth, especially to members of my own family … that they may also know Him .

  118. Thanks for letting us know how we got off schedule- I was trying to figure out how I was off the schedule! (LOL)!

I am so glad I bought the Dr. Charles Stanley workbook for bible study. What a wonderful teacher that passed away in April this year. I loved his gentle style. Thanks for recommending it.

As we are going through a trial as a family – I look for the scripture of encouragement. I have 1 Peter 3-4 for this week.
Grace and Peace be yours in abundance

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you.

  119. I had good intentions this week to be on time here, but I had a family member involved in a bad accident and died. The Lord has been our strength and peace this week! I am going to meditate on the verse Kate has here. John 8: 31-32 is a great verse, even as we face days where our faith may be tested.”If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31b-32

  120. Joshua 1:8-9
“Study this book continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

  121. Late again, but here is my verse:

Psalm 9:10 “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you.”

  122. I’m struggling with balancing life, disability and fatigue. Since even housework is good if done for the Lord and to maintain a place for His use, I chose this verse:

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up.
    Gal.6:9 ESV

  123. Clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

(Good for me to remember when I get too wrapped up in fashion and clothes.)

  124. Isaiah 33:2 (NIV)

Lord, be gracious to us: we long for you. Be our Strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.

  125. I love this verse, and I’ve gotten off track at the end of the school year, so since that verse speaks to me I am going to use it this time, if that’s ok!

If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you
    free.” ~ John 8:31b-32, NASB

  126. My scripture this week:
    1 Corinthians 2:9
    However, as it is written:
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.

  127. I’m late with this entry, it’s been a busy few months.
Phillipians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.

  128. Lamentations 3:22-23 – The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
    Love
    Monika
