Whether you want a sweet gift for your daughter and daughter-in-law or you’re buying a token of your love for a friend, I’ve found some lovely options. When I get a gift for someone I like to give them something I would like, but more importantly something I know they will enjoy. So keep in mind their personal interests and likes. Do you enjoy your relationship with the Lord? I’ve discovered that I generally enjoy things to the degree that I invest in them. If I invest the time, effort and money in a good wardrobe, then I’m more likely to enjoy wearing it. And if I invest time and effort and sacrifice in my marriage, I get more out of it, too.
Likewise, when we invest in our friendship with God, we enjoy Him more. We can do this by worshiping Him with our congregation, singing praise songs, memorizing Scripture, reading our Bibles and spending time in prayer. As I invest in those spiritual disciplines I grow in my desire to please Him through obedience and service.
