Two End of Summer Styles

Hi gals! I don’t know why, but I keep thinking we’re one day further along with the week than we are. Alas, it is Thursday! I think I’m thrown off a little because I am preparing to go out of town to see family next weekend, and it just can’t get here soon enough. But instead of rushing along I thought I’d share with you two final end of summer styles.

I’ll be turning my focus completely to preparing for fall next week. So let’s enjoy these last two summer styles first. They’re both from Christopher and Banks, and I know many of my readers enjoy that retailer.

The products in today’s post were gifted to me by Christopher and Banks but only for the purposes of showing them on Instagram. I am under no obligation to share them here. All opinions expressed are genuine and unsolicited. I value your trust more than anything.

ombre printed stripe top // ankle jeans // sandals (more economical option) // bracelets // earrings

Isn’t this ombre printed stripe top fun? And it comes in two other pretty color combinations, too. I’m wearing a size small, and it’s a nice but tailored fit.

t-shirt

I’m wearing the Signature Slimming ankle jean in the Shaped fit. And I’m wearing a size 6, which is what I usually wear in Christopher and Banks jeans. They’re a very comfortable fit and the length is a true ankle length on my 5’8″ frame. They’re also available in petite and women’s sizes.

jeans

Christopher and Banks has a wide assortment of different types of fits in their denim. You can look for the jeans that would best fit your build here in their Jean Fit Guide.

Right now Christopher and Banks is offering 50% off one full-price item with code 73511. This deal ends September 3.

My jewelry in this look is actually from Talbots. I’m wearing the classic hoop earrings and the classic enamel bangles. Talbots also has some new enamel bangles in fall colors.

I wore my Tory Burch Miller sandals with this look. I definitely like the nude sandals here. They keep the outfit pared down and modern. (Remember yesterday’s video???) But if you like the sandals, but not the price, you might want to check out these more economical sandals with similar styling.

You could certainly wear this outfit into the early fall. And the same could be said of my next end of summer style, too.

ankle jeans // short sleeve heather v-neck // floral print ruana // necklace // earrings // metallic sandals

These are the same ankle jeans as in the last outfit. While Christopher and Banks jeans are sized generously, I do find them to be quite comfortable and wearable.

Here I topped the ankle jeans with a red short sleeve heather v-neck tee. But Christopher and Banks has some pretty colors in their 3/4 sleeve tee, too. The v-neck tee I’m wearing is only $8.

I decided to put this outfit together really based on this pretty floral print ruana. I think it’s a great summer into fall topper. It’s 40% off.

This time my jewelry is from Christopher and Banks. Both my seed bead drop earrings and my beaded layered necklace are 30% off.

My silver flip flops are from a couple of seasons ago, but similar metallic flip flops are still available for a song. Remember, I pointed out in this post that adding metallic shoes is a great way to lighten an outfit up.

Blessed for My Day

I eat lunch alone most days. I fix myself something simple and nutritious to eat and sit down with my phone tuned into YouTube videos or my television tuned to some British show I’ve recorded. I try to get my mind off of work as much as possible and take a true break.

But I always pause to pray before I eat. Not out of habit or compulsion, but because that seems like such a nice time to pray for the people in my life. I think about what they may be doing, the challenges their facing and the patterns of their unique days. And I pray for them.

But I wanted you to know that quite frequently I pray for you, too. Indeed, I do. I don’t know a whole lot about you, other than you show up here quite frequently…or maybe just once in a while. And I know that you’re probably a woman like me who has some weighty things on your mind, some people you’re trying to love well and some questions about life. And so, based on that little bit of information, I lift you up to the Father and ask Him to bless you mightily.

I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places… ~ Ephesians 1:16-20

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Good Morning Kay! Your Blessed for my Day touches my heart that you pray for us gals here! That takes planning, intent and commitment. To know you pray for me is such a gift! Far beyond fashion sense, I’ve gained Godly wisdom through this Blog and your Bible studies on kayharm.com, so thank you! I pray for you and your family as well Kay. For your health, protection, career, and the ministries God’s called you and James to. ??❤️❤️?? I love the outfits you’re styling today, especially the ruana. I’m very petite and would like to find a ruana that isn’t so long and voluminous. Enjoy your day!

    1. Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging words, Nancy. I really appreciate it. Christopher and Banks has several ruanas and kimonos that would definitely fit the bill. Keep in mind too that most of us feel like we look a little strange in a wrap like this when we first try it. It’s definitely a silhouette you have to let your eyes adjust to. So when you first try one on snap a picture and send it to a trusted fashion forward friend or daughter and let them help you decide if it works for you. ?

  2. I love this ombre top so much I had to go order one for myself (along with other things so I could get free shipping). Thanks for the sale alert!

  3. Thank you so much for praying for us! I pray for you and the other bloggers I follow, along with the women in their groups. I really like both outfits and what you are wearing has made my selection process easier, so thank you! I plan on purchasing the runa and jeans, and possibly the v-neck tee. And I will be using one of your links to access the C&B site. Have a great day!

  4. Such a sweet post! I ordered the ombre top in the coral/ pink colors! And such a sweet BFMD. I always scroll down to read that part first before I read your fashion advice. It’s like dinner before dessert for me! Know that I pray for you and the success of your blog. You are touching hearts– not just closets! ♥️

    1. Ah, thanks so much for that Betsy. I certainly appreciate any prayers offered up for me and/or my family. You’re a blessing!

  5. Thank you so much for praying for all us Kay….this touched me?.

I really like the Ruana and I like to wear them…..they just take an outfit “up” a notch!

    Blessings,

  6. Thank you for praying Kay! I believe prayer is the best thing that we can do for others! I pray for you and your family as well. You are a blessing to so many.
I like both of the outfits you modeled. Christopher and Banks is another of my favorite stores.
God bless you and your family, Kay.

  7. Kay, thanks for the beautiful, last of the Summer, outfits! As always, you continue to inspire me to be the best that I can be in many ways. To think that you pray for us means so very much! I will strive to do the same for you and the other bloggers that I follow! Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering if you will be doing an upcoming tutorial on your new hairstyle? It is absolutely beautiful! Bless you!

    1. Hi Cathy. Thanks so much. Yes, gals are asking. I’m really still working at getting used to my hair. I may be trying to video a tutorial soon.

      1. Kay, that would be awesome! In your video yesterday, when you shared how we should not overdo our hairstyle as it ages us, I immediately thought of how your new haircut and style is exactly what I would love to strive for. It is so becoming on you! Thanks so much!

  8. I just ordered some jeans, the ombré top, and another top from Christopher and Banks through your blog, Kay. Thanks for letting me know about the sale.
    Suzanne

  9. Enjoy your blog everyday. Ordered the shirt from Christopher and Banks. When I placed the order and put it on my Visa I was charged in error for TWO shirts. Called them immediately and they would not change the order to just one sweater so now i have to go to the trouble of returning one of the shirts after I receive it. Very disapppointed and will not do business with them again and hope you will not. Not surprised they are soliciting your business.

  10. I love both. I think a ruana makes a great third layer. Your Silver sandals going to be stored just like my gold snakeskin. Maybe we can find some metallic boots! ?

Thank you for praying for us. It means a lot. My prayers are with the people in Louisiana today. It’s not only physically draining but mentally draining to go through a hurricane. I’m a Katrina survivor and it takes time to get back to normal.

  11. Both outfits are cute but the first one looks so great on you!! You just seem to light up! Thank you for praying for us!!
