5 Mistakes Making You Look Older

Welcome to Dressed for My Day. On Wednesdays I upload a new video to my YouTube channel. And today’s video is all about how to grow old gracefully. Well, actually we’re talking about 5 mistakes you might be making that are making you look older than you really are. Are you making any of these mistakes?

Before you watch today’s video I’d like to share my heart on something. I want you to know that, while I do think the tips I offer in today’s video are valid and helpful, they are also offered in the spirit of fun and good will. The last thing I want to do is offend or hurt you or any of my readers.

I am becoming more and more aware that as we get older we all face very unique and sometimes frustrating challenges. Everything about our bodies and even our minds change in ways we simply had not anticipated.

I know that some of you have even developed medical issues that have further exasperated the so-called normal experiences of aging. You may feel like you just can’t get a break! I hear you. I’ve got some of those myself. And while I don’t talk about all of them, I struggle some days to just stay on top of those things. Not only do those physical maladies and changes make me feel older, they also make me question my attractiveness and my worth…on my worst days.

I get it. Aging is not easy. Some days we feel like young chicks who have got their groove on. Woohoo! And the very next day we look in the mirror and wonder where that woman came from! Honestly, I think the best thing we can do is just gather here (or in my Facebook Group) and laugh about it all…together!

So please watch today’s video in the spirit in which it was recorded. Do not let it make you feel less than. No ma’am. We’ll have none of that here. You are precious and beautiful and worthy and so very unique. And I am rooting for you! I really am.

Now, let’s watch today’s video!

If for some reason the video doesn’t load in the YouTube widget above, you can watch it here.

Thank you so much for dropping in today. I hope you have a lovely day!

Blessed for My Day

When we’ve been hurt it’s only natural to seek revenge or at least to hope for it. Whether we actually set out to push back or we just fantasize about getting even, it’s very tempting to become consumed with setting things right.

But God asks us to leave justice to Him. Not only that, He tells us to continue to love and do good to the one who has wounded us. Wow. That’s hard. But if we trust that our God loves us and has our back, we can do just that. Really, leaving vengeance to God and conducting ourselves with love and grace despite having been hurt is all about trust. Do you trust that God loves you, is good and will set all things right?

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. ~ Romans 12:19-21

Spread the love

  1. Great video! You not only look authentic and polished, you speak it! Always sharing tips and advise with such love and grace! Thank you!

  2. Great tips. On yesterday’s Talbots fall review, I did find a few unique pieces but I hunted for them. One is the leopard v neck sweater, modern without looking overdone. Another is the blue stripe banded blouse with ruffle at the collar and cuffs. This piece is very unique. I am a nurse, so my fall shopping is for fun and leisure! Have a great day. Love your posts and videos.

  3. I can vividly remember thinking I wouldn’t go through all the changes like my mother because I was doing things to prevent them…ha! Jokes on me.

  4. I appreciated your video today, especially the part about shoes. I have problems with both sizing (need wider toe box but not wide shoe) and comfort (need lower heel and more padding). I would love it if you would do a round up of stylish and comfortable shoes each season! BTW, I the comment button at the bottom of the video keeps asking me to create a channel, so I commented here instead.

  5. Right on! Great advice, you always seem to kindly remind us that we are no longer 25 BUT that we don’t need to look “old” either!.

  6. Enjoyed today’s video. Fortunately, I seem to be doing at least one thing right. Last year I decided to stop fighting my waves by always blow drying at high heat and sometimes using a flat iron. Now my hair looks more natural and has even grown longer faster because I think it’s healthier. I am going to go a little shorter next time to encourage the waves more. Now I just need to address one or two other things from your list.

  7. Another Awesome video Kay…..so much great information and I’m filing this video in a folder I have for you so I can look back on…..

As we get older I did not realize, but makes perfect sense….less is more?

    Blessings,

  8. Kay,
Thank you for another great video. I too am guilty of several of the items you pointed out and intend to work on them all. Could you please do a post on shoes and perhaps list the brands you mentioned in the video. I didn’t catch all the names.
I also really appreciate your blessed for my day segments. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into the posts and videos.

  9. If you are looking for affordable ways to try new looks, thrift stores can be a great place to start! It’s easier to make a low priced purchase to try something new. If you love it, you can invest in a new piece after you’ve tried it. I’ve found lots of terrific fashion items in thrift stores. If you shop them, you will learn which ones have items you will like. I’ve even found items with the store tags still attached! It’s fun if you are willing to do some extra “combing through” what is there. Some of them are now “thriftiques” that will edit their donations and put out the best. It’s a terrific place to find jewelry and other accessories too!

  10. That was great!!! Such a passion for inspiring women to be all God wants them to be through the words “He” gives you and just spurring us on to be our best……..definitely gifted in speaking life and hope into all women…. “He” is using you in a mighty way to bring “glory” to “His” Name……thank you for being obedient

  11. You are too cute!! Love the video and the “nice” way of stepping on toes…ha! I’m sure I’m guilty of one or two of these offenses but trying to do better each day! Love the Blessed for My day feature as well. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  12. These were great tips, Kay! I find that sometimes my daughter and I (she’s 40, not 25!) will buy some of the same classic pieces, but we will style them completely different and that makes all the difference! I also like the tips about hair and shoes! Keep up the good work!

  13. Hi Kay! Thanks for the great tips . I learn something new from you every week! I love Wednesdays with Kay!

  14. Well thought-out tips, Kay! I agree with all. I need to upgrade some of my shoes but I’m good with the remainder of the tips. Thank you for all the preparation and presentation of your videos.

  15. Comment from Mary should say “ Thank you Kay” not “think yoga”…… darn typo and auto correct Lol!!!

  16. Loved your video and the truths that you shared on growing older. It’s so nice to have a group of ladies to grow older with and be the best we can be! We’re not dead yet!

  17. Excellent Kay!!!! You are doing fabulous on your videos. I have definitely made a couple of these mistakes. Thank you for addressing them.

  18. Great video! Thanks so much. Things to keep in mind now that I am in my 60s and no longer working. Being stuck at home for the last 6 months is taking its toll, also.
