How I Really Dressed for My Day

Happy Friday! It’s time for a round-up of my recent outfits. These are the things I really wore for the spring week. I traveled to Georgia on Tuesday to spend some time with family. And before that I was mainly working at home in preparation for the trip. Let’s see how I really dressed for my days.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask. All available items are linked in the captions of the photos. Even if they don’t look like links (sometimes they don’t highlight for some reason), they generally are. So just click through if you’re interested.

What I Wore Last Friday

Like I said, last Friday I was mainly just working in my home office prepping for this week’s out of town trip. Comfort was key, but I always like to look a little pulled together.

I wore an elderberry colored linen shirt with my Frank & Eileen Wexford cropped linen pants. They don’t seem to have these pants in linen right now, but they have several other options in linen. A linen shirt and pants is one of my favorite outfit formulas for the warmer days. By the way, I did size up to a large in that purple linen shirt for a roomier fit.

How I Dressed for My Day Saturday

Saturday I mostly was at home, but I did get out a little bit to run errands. I wore lighter was jeans and a dolman sleeved linen button-up shirt accessorized with cognac sandals and belt.

Lighter wash jeans are definitely back in style this summer. I appreciate the fairly consistent coloring on these and the very minimal distressing. They fit true to size, as does this super soft linen shirt.

What I Wore Monday

This Eileen Fisher dress had been hanging on my office door begging to be worn for weeks, but the weather just hadn’t been right yet. So as soon as it turned rather warmer Monday, I put it on. It was immediately comfortable and felt so lovely all day.

My necklace in iridescent peony pink works perfectly with this Geranium colored dress. I’ve noticed it kind of changes colors depending on whether you’re wearing red or pink.

What I Wore to Travel to Georgia

Tuesday I had short flight to Atlanta, where I rented a car and drove to my daughter’s for a few days. I wanted to be comfortable, but also wanted to wear the one jacket I would have for the duration of the trip. I considered wearing/taking my denim jacket, but it seemed a little heavy for the weather that was predicted. So I opted for my linen bomber jacket instead.

My linen bomber jacket is from last year, and it was one of my favorite purchases of the year. It’s not available now, but I noticed that Talbots has New Arrivals, and this jacket is very similar. And I love that jacket in the pretty blue, but the white is so very versatile.

How I Dressed for a Day with Grandbaby

Wednesday we were just home with baby all day. It was a sweet day of taking care of Hannah and mommy, who has been under the weather with a bad cold turned sinus infection. I cooked dinner for the family and gave Hannah a bath, too. Fun day!

I knew I’d look a little rumpled in my linen, but just didn’t care. It feels so soft and comfortable, and that was the name of the game this day. Other than going for a Kroger pick-up order I didn’t get out.

What I Wore Out and About Thursday

Thursday baby Hannah had a scheduled well baby check-up, so Abby and I took her for that. Then we stopped at a favorite French cafe for lunch. It was a steamy day, so I felt comfortable in my cropped white pants and linen shirt/tank top duo.

Today I’m moving to my parents’ home for the remainder of my time in Georgia. I’m looking forward to visiting with them and going to a play with a dear friend tomorrow. Thanks so much for dropping in today!

Blessed for My Day

It is good to think on the Lord’s lovingkindness toward us. “Lovingkindness” is a word we only see in the Bible. It’s more than love and it’s more than acts of kindness. The word is a covenant term, and it speaks of the fact that God has chosen, out of great love for us, to commit Himself to treating us consistently and always with kindness. Lovingkindness is God’s attitude and actions toward us epitomized by Christ’s death on the cross.

Take some time today to consider how God has loved you and shown you kindness recently. He has committed Himself to always be there for us, to show us grace and to bless us. Sometimes that lovingkindness is indeed shown through discipline, but you can know that He does everything out of lovingkindness.

We have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God,
In the midst of Your temple. ~ Psalm 48:9

xoxo, Kay

  1. I so enjoy your blog, but it’s so slow so many advertisements and possibly bot issues, many of your clothing posts will not come up in the blog. Just fyi for you friend.

    1. I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble loading my website. I don’t have that problem and others have not shared a similar experience. But I can suggest that you make sure you are trying to load it on a good Internet connection. Sometimes cellular data can move a little slow for website.

      1. Just fyi – I did have a lot of problems with the long post yesterday(shorts alternatives). It was so bad it kept kicking me back to the beginning over and over. I had to give up on that one because it was so frustrating! Thanks for keeping us up to date with fashion. I really look forward to your email every single day. Enjoy the rest of your time with family!

        1. Karen try using a different browser. I read all my blogs on DuckduckGo. No ads. All my bloggers are bookmarked and I read every day on DuckduckGo.

  2. Kay,

Thanks for these “What I Wore” posts. They help when thinking of ways to wear what I have. I really enjoy your blog!

  3. Glad you are having a good time with your visit with your family. Would you send me the link to the cognac belt you wore Saturday? Every time I push on the link for the belt the blouse pops up. I am looking for a good quality belt in cognac. You listed one last week, but it did not have good reviews.

  4. I was surprised when I clicked on light wash jeans and it said they were rag n bone brand. I tried a pair last year as I love their shoes. But the jeans I got weighed so much I couldn’t see wearing them in heat. I just stopped trying with that brand. But then I see you wore them on this trip into heat and wondered if they are light weight???

    1. Hi Kristin, I didn’t wear the Rag & Bone jeans on the trip. That was earlier in the week before I left. And you’re right; they are heavier than other jeans I own. I like the silhouette and the fit, but they are really too heavy for warm days.

  5. I also like that travel outfit, though I’d choose different shoes and I always wear more delicate jewelry. And I just can’t get over it – the lavender purple looks so good on you, Kay. Have a blessed weekend. (From a different Carolyn than the previous post – I’m the Carolyn who wears colors in the deep Autumn palette).

  6. What lovely outfits! Glad to hear you are enjoying your visit. I bet you are having a had time trying not to hold that baby all day long.Lol! I would, so cute!

  7. These “What I really Wore” posts are always my favorite. You look fantastic in all your outfits this week! Your combinations help me figure out my own outfits…Thank you!

  8. Hi, Kay. Thank you for the belt suggestion for the Eileen Fisher dress.
I am wondering if there is a code discount for the dress.
I did sign up for 15% off on their website, otherwise.
    Thank you!

    1. Yes! I just got an email that said today is the last day to use code NEW25 to get $25 off your order. But the 15% off might be better.
