The Most Beautiful Fall Wedding Guest Dresses

It’s that time! I’m beginning to hear from so many readers who are looking for dresses to wear to fall weddings and other formal or semi-formal occasions. I don’t have a wedding to attend this autumn, but you didn’t have to twist my arm to order a couple of suitable dresses to try out for you. Today I’m sharing two beautiful fall wedding guest dresses that are certainly appropriate for other settings, too. And I’m giving you the scoop on where else to look for your special autumn frock.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

I got both of these beautiful fall wedding guest dresses from Tuckernuck. They’ve become my go-to source when I want something elevated, unique and modern, but also classic and feminine. At the end of the post I have a shopping widget with other dresses from Tuckernuck, as well as a selection from some of your other favorite retailers. And I’ve collected dresses in a wide range of sizes, lengths, styles and price points.

Baroque Floral Maxi Dress

Of course you’ll want to check the dress code for the occasion you are wearing, but I think this Baroque Floral Irina Dress is suitable for a wide range of dress codes and settings. The 100% rayon fabric is silky and flowy, giving this ultra feminine dress a romantic vibe.

The lace detail adds to the femininity and frames the flattering v-neckline beautifully. It extends to the bodice, accentuating your curves and even creating some if you don’t have them.

Fill the neckline with dainty necklaces or wear a bold statement piece.

I tried the dress initially with black sandals, but didn’t like the effect. You’ll never go wrong with strappy sandals in a flesh tone. These popular Dolce Vita heels also come in black, gold, cognac and ivory. Unfortunately they have been a cult favorite this summer, so they’re in shortage at Dolce Vita and they won’t restock until September and October. So if you need similar shoes before then, check out these slightly lower heels and these pretty sandals.

Complete this silky floral dress with your favorite evening bag and a black cashmere wrap. I’m wearing a large in the Baroque Floral Irina Dress. I used the size guide and ordered accordingly. It’s roomy, but I kind of like it that way. The dress is lined and it feels absolutely beautiful and comfortable.

Winetasting Eyelet Delaney Dress

Next I ordered Delaney eyelet dress in the color winetasting. This substantial dress has a beautiful drape and is fully lined. It’s a polyester dress, but feels like soft cotton. You slip the A-line dress on over your head and then zip at the side. It has a concealed button placket from the waist to the neckline.

This deep wine color is so on trend, but it’s also flattering on so many skin tones. I love how the very bottom of the scalloped skirt catches the light since the lining ends a few inches above. And the gently puffed sleeves are feminine and luxurious.

I completed this dress with my garnet and diamond necklace and two sets of diamond huggie earrings. This is the time to bring out your best jewelry!

The fitted waistline and A-line skirt of this dress make it so feminine and beautiful for your fall special occasion.

I adore these two dresses from Tuckernuck. But we all have different taste and preferences. So I’ve filled a shopping widget below with additional beautiful fall wedding guest dresses that you could also wear to showers, anniversary celebrations, engagement parties and more. If you want to wear a lovely dress for a special occasion, but don’t want to pay the full amount to add it to your closet I suggest you check out Rent the Runway. My daughter has rented several dresses for weddings and parties from them with satisfaction.

Blessed for My Day

To join in with those who are celebrating one of life’s joyful milestones is perhaps one of the sweetest aspects of being human. Think back over the parties, weddings, showers and reunions you’ve enjoyed over the decades of life. Remember the warmth of heart, the lightness of spirit, the sense of community and the joy of laughter. Weren’t those such heart-lifting times? And don’t the memories continue to bring a smile to your face?

Not every celebration includes an invitation. Sometimes there is no guest list or venue. But most every day we have the opportunity to share in the emotional highs and lows of those around us and even those we are tied to but who live far away. We can mail a birthday card, send a text full of warm words and enthusiastic emojis or place a telephone call. We can walk next door with a cake, take flowers to the nursing home or sit with a friend in silence. Coming alongside those who are rejoicing…or weeping…is humanity at its core. And, as Christians, we can take the grace of God into the situation, too.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. ~ Romans 12:15

xoxo, Kay

  1. Could you post a few more medium priced clothes. Prices have steadily increased. Enjoy reading your posts but cannot afford these high priced items. Have a good day.

    1. Unfortunately it’s not easy to find a lot of great options for special events at lower prices. I did try. And I filled the shopping widget with dresses in a full range of prices, scouring every website I could wholeheartedly recommend.

  2. Beautiful dresses and great style tips as usual. Thank you for showing these lovely blog posts. I think it’s OK to not like or need every outfit you show but I still love seeing what is new and trending and also the style tips that can be used on things I already have in my closet.

  3. I didn’t read the comments yesterday but I think you look great in prints. These two dresses are so pretty on you. I wish I could wear this style but I’m just too short and I finally stopped ordering them to try. Fall is coming fast. Here in NW Oregon we’ve had some Fall like weather but now it’s suppose to be hotter starting today. I’m holding on to Summer.

  4. Kay, The two dresses you suggested are lovely! I am taking a friend for a formal tea to celebrate her seventieth birthday. I had purchased the Tuckernuck pink, Scarlet Sonata dress and wondered if you had ideas to take this into fall. The tea is scheduled for mid October. Thank you Kay!

    1. I think that dress is still quite lovely for fall. Add a pullover cashmere sweater over your shoulders or even slip into a cardigan that coordinates. Enjoy!

  5. Hey Kay,
You look so pretty in both selections, especially the wine colored dress. How is your weight loss journey progressing ? You inspired me to go on my own journey. I am happy to say my BMI is now in the normal range for someone my height.
Just returned from a lovely family vacation last week end – working to get back on track!!!!

    1. Thank you. I’ve pretty much plateaued in my weight loss, but I have kept off a few pounds. I’m getting in my weight lifting workouts but have struggle to get in my walks lately with the temperatures so high.

  6. I love the burgundy eyelet dress. Wish I could afford it, but I know sometimes formal dresses are just that expensive.

  7. The wine color dress is beautiful. Since I am 5’1 the print dress would not suite me and to be honest I am not a fan of flower prints. Wish the wine dress came in petite because even a small would be too long and I would lose the lace at the bottom if I had to shorten.

  8. They are both beautiful dresses!!! We are invited to a wedding on a working farm in New Jersey on November 1st – the ceremony is place outdoors, weather permitting, in a field, and we will be riding in an open wagon to get to that field, then the reception is in the barn. The ladies have already been warned not to wear heels! Wish I could wear jeans but I need to find a dress for this wonderful event and I appreciate any and all suggestions! November 1st could be cold and rainy or warmish – hard to know right now – another clothing challenge!

  9. Thank you for sharing! I have ordered the pretty burgundy dress from JC Penney that you had as a shopping widget. I honestly would have never thought to look at Penney’s. Hope it will work for a fall wedding I am attending!
