I’m frequently asked about the beauty tools that I use. Makeup, skincare and haircare products definitely make a difference in a woman’s appearance. But the proper tools also play a big role when it comes to getting the best results from your carefully chosen beauty products. So today I’m sharing with you my list of beauty tools that every woman over 50 needs.

In my experience, you’re either a gadget person…or you’re not. Lol! Personally, I’m not a gadget lover. I don’t like tools and contraptions cluttering up my bathroom if I’m not regularly using them with significant results. So, while it’s true that I’ve exaggerated a little (not EVERY woman over 50 has to own EVERY one of my tools, lol), I do stand by the beauty tools that I’m recommending. These are the beauty tools that are making a real difference in my appearance and even my health. I’ve been using some of these for years, and I use all of them on a regular basis.
Magnified Mirrors

I have to us a mirror with magnification when I put my eye makeup and lip color on. I prefer one with only 5x magnification rather than 10x or higher. But you can find options with a variety of magnification strengths. Having one like this Zadro lighted mirror mounted on the wall keeps it out of the way when not in use, but handy when you need it. And I’ve been traveling with this Zadro lighted travel mirror for several years now.
Dental Care Tools
I have gum disease and fight tartar buildup. So a good electric toothbrush has become a must for me. According to my dental hygienist, Philips is her preferred brand. I’ve been using the Philips Sonicare for a couple of years now and have seen significant improvement in my pesky periodontal pocket depths. I can go about a month between charges, so I can even travel without the charging cord.

Electric Flosser Kit also on amazon
It’s also important to floss daily, especially as we age. I struggled with being regular with this positive habit despite my good intentions…until I came across the Flaus electric flosser. I actually look forward to flossing my teeth each night now. With the Flaus I don’t have to reach into my mouth to floss my back teeth and the whole process is just easier and cleaner. And I feel like it’s more effective, too. I’ll find out at my next dental visit.
Pro Quality Hair Tools
For years I used whatever hairdryer I could buy inexpensively at a discount store. But when I first tried a higher quality dryer, I immediately noticed my hair getting healthier. With good hair tools you don’t have to use them as much or as long, preventing heat damage.

T3 Curling Straightener 2-in-1 Hair Styling Iron also on amazon // ulta // sephora
After using a Dyson dryer for several years, I’ve landed on T3 tools as my preferred brand. They’re lighter weight and very intuitive. I not only use the T3 Featherwright StyleMax Dryer above, but I also travel with this T3 Afar travel size hair dryer, which is discounted in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year. I have a discontinued T3 flat iron, but this T3 Curling Straightener 2-in-1 hair styling iron looks like a great deal.
Skincare Beauty Tools
I’ve got coupon codes for great savings on all three of these essential skincare beauty tools. In fact, the Elemis dry brush does more than exfoliate skin. It also helps with lymphatic drainage and circulation. I use it gently all over my body just before getting in the shower. Use code KAY20 for 20% off at Elemis.

Elemis Dry Brush use code KAY20 for 20%, also on amazon // Nordstrom
DermaFlash Luxe+ Dermaplaning & Peach Fuzz Removal Set use code kay for 20% off // amazon // sephora // in Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I use The Skinny Confidential ice roller in the mornings to jumpstart circulation. After removing it from the freezer, I let it thaw out just a bit and then gently roll on dry skin anywhere that I feel a little puffy, like my arms, neck and face. It’s soothing and refreshing, too. Use code KAY15 for 15% off at The Skinny Confidential. And about every two weeks I use the DermaFlash Luxe+ to remove unwanted facial hair and dry, dead skin. You can use code kay for 20% off at DermaFlash.
Essential Makeup Application Tools
I’ve discovered that good cosmetics are only as effective as the beauty tools with which you apply them. The right makeup brushes not only get the product on your face, but they transfer it seamlessly from the container to your skin and smooth it on beautifully. The BK Beauty brushes are the best quality I have found, and their Angie Hot & Flashy brushes are made specifically for women over 50. I recommend you also get the brush soap with cleaning pad to care for your brushes properly. You can use code kay10 for 10% off at BK Beauty or get the set in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for a great price. I also always travel with the Angie Hot & Flash travel brush set.

I’d used the BeautyBlender for years to finish my foundation application with that beautiful airbrushed effect. But when I started using the BK Beauty brushes I stopped. Recently, however, I’ve looked in that magnifying mirror and realized that I was ending up with brush strokes on my foundation. So I’m back to “bouncing” with the BeautyBlender for the perfect finish. It works beautifully!

Blessed for My Day
The seasons we experience with the passing of each year are truly a miracle to me. I love that we have a Creator God who wisely integrated constant change into the fabric of our lives. Not only do the seasons provide time for nature to spring forth, bear fruit, fade and rest, but they also keep us energized and forever looking forward with anticipation. Which season is your favorite? I think I love spring the best, but each of them have so many special gifts for us.
I find that a woman’s life has seasons, too. Don’t you? We go through seasons of joy and those of grief. We build and produce and grow and multiply in some seasons and then we rest and nurture and reflect in others. Some seasons seem emotionally taxing while others physically take a toll. And relationships come and go, thrive and dwindle, give and take with each season. Think about the season you are in right now. Are you fighting against it or thriving in it, even if that looks different than you expected? Ask the Lord to give you wisdom and grace to walk through this season with joy and His perspective so that no matter what the days hold you can bring Him glory and feel His goodness.
You have established all the boundaries of the earth; You have made summer and winter. ~ Psalm 74:17
