Welcome to Dressed for My Day! So many of my readers enjoy shopping Talbots for modern classic styles, and I do, too. Today is the beginning of the Talbots Semi-Annual Red Door Sale, so I’m sharing some of my favorites from the sale as well as a few shopping tips. I love end of season sales, but I believe in shopping them smart!

This is a great time to give your summer closet a refresh, but I also like to look for classic pieces to add to my wardrobe for next spring. And don’t forget to shop for the birthday and hostess gifts you may need for the coming weeks, too.

I have just a few more shopping tips for you to consider before you hit the Talbots Red Door Sale.

  • Keep building your wardrobe. Even when you’re shopping end of season sales it’s smart to focus on building your wardrobe. Don’t just purchase something because it’s marked down to a great price. Make sure it will play nicely with the other things you’ve strategically added to your closet already. Shop smart…even in a sale…especially in a sale!
  • Shop for the classics. While I love adding a few trends to my closet each season, I think it’s smart to shop end of season sales for more classic pieces. That simply means you don’t think the item will look dated next year. Fortunately Talbots fashions generally hold up to time well. They have a very classic aesthetic.

I’ve collected some beautiful classic pieces from the sale in the shopping boutique below. Just click on the item to shop.

  • Shop for third pieces and outerwear. Jackets, cardigans and coats are real outfit makers. These substantial items can be pricey at the beginning of the season. So the Red Door Sale is a great opportunity to add one of these valuable pieces to your wardrobe.

I’ve collected great third pieces that will complete your outfits below. Just click on the item to shop.

  • Build your special occasion capsule. If you have a wedding, anniversary party or other special occasion around the corner…or next spring or summer…now is a great time to find that perfect dress or the right accessories.

Below you’ll find a beautiful selection of dresses and accessories from the Talbots Red Door Sale worthy of special occasions.

  • Look for wear now pieces you’ll wear frequently. If you have a hole in your wardrobe now or need a few things for vacation or family gatherings, get those now. Wear them frequently and enjoy!

I’ve collected some of my favorite wear-now styles for a casual lifestyle below.

  • Shop the Red Door Sale for the basics. This is a great time to stock up on tees, shorts or denim that you’ll wear over and over.

You’ll find elevated basics from Talbots below.

  • Don’t forget to look for gifts. Definitely consider gifts already on your list, but I also like to stock up on sweet gifts I know my friends and family will love. That way I have them handy as needed.

I’ve collected my favorite gift-worthy items from the Talbots Red Door Sale below. At these prices it’s smart to stock up!

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope you have a beautiful and blessed day.

Blessed for My Day

I started Dressed for My Day over six years ago because I knew that women over 50 sometimes tend to lose their feelings of significance. I know I wrestled with that a little personally. Maybe you have, or maybe you know of a friend who seems to have lost her sense of purpose. It’s important for us to encourage one another during this season of life.

Let’s remember that we do indeed still have purpose. Even if you’ve retired from your career or emptied your nest, you have a reason to get up and about each day. We have so much to contribute to the world around us. We find our worth in who we are in Christ, not our job or other people. Cling to the value He has put on you, and seek to fulfill the calling He has given you for this very day. You have good work to do still!

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ~ Ephesians 2:10

xoxo, Kay

  1. Thank you for talking about our value/worth in Christ. Sure doesn’t hurt to be reminded of that. Yesterday, at church, was reminded of how much God loves me. Felt good to be reminded.

  2. Love the devotional. I never felt old at 50. It was 65 for me because of one word Medicare. Lol. I turned 70 yesterday. I don’t feel it. I’m blessed but I know health problems can start to happen as we age. I just put my trust in the Lord.
