My Real Life Outfits this Week in July

July 5, 2024

Welcome to Dressed for My Day and happy Friday! We’re on a long weekend getaway with families from our church. We’ve rented a large cabin in the woods, and it’s so much fun to be out in nature. Next week I’m sure I’ll share my hiking outfits and such from this weekend, but today I’m sharing my real life outfits for this first week in July.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask. All available items are linked in the captions of the photos. Even if they don’t look like links (sometimes they don’t highlight for some reason), they generally are. So just click through if you’re interested.

Get ready to see a lot of linen. Ha! This is the time of year when I practically live in this cool, breathable natural fiber fabric. Last Friday I worked from home all day. I may have gotten out to run an errand. I’m really not sure. But I wore my wide leg linen pants with a gauze striped button up shirt.

Last week in this blog post I wore this gauze top with my denim shorts (those are 50% off now!), but I love how the soft colors work here with these cement colored linen pants. By the way, those Frank & Eileen linen pants are pricey (but so fabulous), but they are actually having a great sale right now their Kinsale linen pants, which I also have and love, are 40% off.

Last Saturday, James and I started our weekend by going out to breakfast in a nearby town. We stopped by a produce stand on our way home where I took these photos. That morning I wore my Eileen Fisher linen lantern pants from last year. This color is not available, but you’ll find several other nice options. And here is a more economical option that is similar.

I kept this Saturday morning outfit simple with my sleeveless cotton button-up shirt and my comfortable Naot sandals.

Sunday we didn’t get to have church Sunday due to a issue at the place where we meet. But I still wanted to get dressed for my day. So I put on my white linen lantern pants with a linen top from a couple of years ago. They have a similar one this year and it’s available in multiple colors. I always size down to a small in Eileen Fisher.

I was just home for most of the day, so I wore my ultra comfortable Clarks Collection leather slide sandals.

Monday we shot videos. I decided not to have a video this past Wednesday because we just didn’t have time to shoot and edit it as well as get ready for our trip and the company we’ll return home to on Sunday. But we shot a video actually for two week from now. Next Wednesday my daughter and I are shooting video together in which we’re taking you somewhere fun. Stay tuned!

So the outfit above is one I model in the upcoming video, and it’s the one I wore for the longest that day. Ha! I’m just in and out of clothes when I shoot videos, so I never really feel like I wear one thing on those days. But I think this combination makes a really great office appropriate outfit.

Tuesday I worked in the morning and then got out for appointments and to make a few returns at the mall. I stopped into J.Jill to return a pair of pants and tried on a few things, but didn’t find anything else I needed. I took this mirror selfie while I was there.

I got so many compliments on this outfit that day. Truly, even a couple of men told me how much they liked my outfit. It began to feel a little strange. Later I was telling James about this and we decided that it was the color purple. He said when he used to occasionally wear a purple shirt at church he would always get more compliments than usual, too. If you want to stand out in a crowd? Wear purple! Ha!

So Wednesday I wore purple again. Hehehe! I didn’t go anywhere on this day, just worked from home. But I felt comfortable and bright in my purple tank (runs large) and cropped white pants.

By the way, those Naot sandals above are nice and soft, but they run quite small. I really probably should not have kept them. I can only put them on in the morning when my feet are nice and small. Maybe if I wore them more they would stretch, but then again, they’re even a little short. Just lettin’ you know!

Then yesterday we worked in the morning and then headed out for our church family getaway. I decided to go a little patriotic, so I wore my red linen shorts and red, white and blue linen plaid shirt.

Blessed for My Day

It’s always a good day to sing the Lord’s praises. We don’t have to wait until we’re singing in church on Sunday. We can share with others what God has done in our lives on any given day. As we express our trust in Him, our gratitude for His faithfulness and provision and love for His goodness, we point others to Him.

Let’s take advantage of every opportunity we have to proclaim to others what God has done in our lives and what we see Him doing around us. As we praise God, we not only please Him greatly, but we also help others to find hope in Him.

In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. ~ Isaiah 12:4

  1. All cute and classy outfits. I just can’t like the half tuck on button up shirts – be glad when the trend has passed.i know the Nordstrom sale is great for the northern states but in Texas and Florida it isn’t enticing! Haha

    1. Same here Penny. I live in Texas. It’s been high 90s and 100 so I can’t get excited about fall winter clothes. Plus Nordstrom is so expensive even on sale.

  2. Hi Kay enjoy your weekend at the Cabin in the woods , it sounds fabulous fun . Loved all your ‘real life’ outfits , they all look so holidayish and just so summery . Yes purple is a colour that gets compliments , but I think you are being too humble here , a Beautiful woman wearing purple will definitely get compliments , you Rock it Girl 💜and enjoy ! . Loved your BFMD today , I was feeling a little blue and down today , went for a 6 mile walk still didn’t shake it off , but after reading your Blessing it has made me count my Blessings , and also reading your post has cheered me up Thank you 💕

  3. That purple outfit (which to me looks more pink) is stunning! I think the colors work with your hair and skin tone and the combination of the pants and top are so chic!

  4. I ordered these shorts from J. Jill In the jam Red color But they didn’t get here in time for me to wear them yesterday. That’s OK it rained anyway. I will still wear them this summer. There is always next year lol Hope you had a good 4th

  5. Kay,
I love your posts and videos, but I agree with another person who thinks you should ‘dial it down a bit.’ I don’t think many women wear $300 linen pants while working around the house. I live where people dress very casually and while I enjoy having nice clothes- $300 pants and tops are unrealistic for wearing around the house or even ‘around town’

    1. I certainly appreciate your input, Ann. However my analytics tell me that many of my readers do indeed enjoy the selections from Frank & Eileen and other retailers I share. I try to provide a wide selection of options at different price points.
