Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. I’m so glad you stopped in for a little style inspiration. I feel like we jumped over spring and into summer here in Cincinnati. But I’m not complaining about the warm temperatures now. I’m thrilled that it’s time to post a summer casual look like the one I’ve got for you today.

I really meant to share this simple casual summer outfit yesterday, but the whole holiday thing threw me off and I completely got mixed up. So I really hope the pretty pieces that comprise this look are still available and on sale. This is such a pretty outfit to start your summer with.

I guess of all the shorts I wear during the summer, I gravitate most to my denim shorts. So I love these denim shorts in pretty berry sorbet. I’m wearing a 6, which is what I usually wear in Christopher & Banks jeans and pants, but I wish I had the 8. Maybe they just feel a little snug because I’ve put on a few #COVID-19POUNDS, which I’m working hard to get off right away. But then again, they may just run smaller than their jeans.

My denim shorts are also available in olive and khaki. And you’ll find more Christopher & Banks denim shorts to select from here. They do have nice stretch in them and I like the silhouette and length.

I selected this Spring Scooter Tee because it seems like it would be versatile and look great with so many of my shorts and jeans this summer. I like the colors in the design as the sparkle from the rhinestone accents. I’m wearing a small, but I think I’d prefer to size up to the medium for a roomier fit. This tee does not have a lot of stretch in it like Christopher and Banks’ perfect tees do.

I topped this casual summer look with a cropped pleat back denim jacket. I’ve been reaching for this jacket over my Levi’s one a lot lately because I appreciate the shorter length. I’m wearing a small for a very comfortable fit.

I noticed when I was looking through the Christopher & Banks website gathering the links for this post that they have some sweet patriotic tees in stock, too. This would be a great time to get a cute tee for Independence Day. I find that the best patriotic tees sell out well before July 4th. I especially like this one with popsicles and this ombre red, white and blue stripe tee.

Do you believe that God is for you or against you? That may sound like a silly question, but it’s one we all need to settle once and for all. You see, the enemy of our souls would like to convince us that God is holding out on us, that He is, indeed, against us. He uses crafty lies and deceitful language convince us of this fallacy.

In the Garden of Eden, God generously told Adam that he could freely eat of any tree of the garden, but then He did restrict him from eating the fruit of one tree. Later the serpent (the enemy) approached the woman and began a conversation with her by fixating on what God had said they could not do. In fact, he highly exaggerated God’s restriction. If we’re not careful, we enter into the same types of misinformed conversations with the enemy in our minds. Let’s make sure we have it settled in our hearts and minds that God is for us, not against us.God is, in fact, loving, kind, generous and gracious toward us.

The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” ~ Genesis 2:16-17

Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” ~ Genesis 3:1-3

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Cute look Kay. Those shorts are really pretty! Not quite summer in New York yet but getting there. I live on Long Island and we generally stay cooler because of the ocean breezes. This look would be perfect for when we get those summer temperatures.

  2. Nice outfit! I like colored crop pants; I’m not much for shorts. But, the look is great on you.
Thanks for BFMD as well. The Lord is gracious and good always.
It is sunny and warm here in PA.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Suzanne

  3. I really like this outfit, Kay! I was about to order the shorts, but then I stopped myself because I rarely wear shorts, so I don’t NEED them in my closet. I hope that you have a fabulous day!

  4. There are sizes in khaki and a few in the pink but I wanted the olive but that color is very limited. Oh well… I like the outfit and you are right, we skipped spring and headed right into hot and humid!!
