Let’s kick off this week with a dress! Today I’m styling a simple but so pretty linen dress for summer. This is the kind of dress I love to wear to a special luncheon, church or even a vacation dinner during the summer.

My sea green linen A-line shirtdress is also available in cornflower blue and citron yellow, both so pretty and on trend.
This shirtdress does run large, as most J.Jill styles do. I sized down to a small and it fits very comfortably. The dress is supposed to be roomy and flowy, and I don’t shy away from that silhouette during the summer. A dress like this keeps you cool and fresh on a hot, humid day.
I’m a sucker for a dress with pockets, and this linen shirtdress features half-moon on-seam pockets, as well as a decorative chest pocket. The shirtdress has sizeable vents online the hemline on each side, but they are modest enough for me.
Because of the side vents, I did not wear a slip with this dress. But I did wear the Wacoal Body Base short panties, as I do with most dresses during the warmer months.
I kept my jewelry fairly simple. I wore some pretty dragonfly earrings, my Lagos white caviar ceramic collar necklace and a simple stretch bracelet that plays off the green in the dress. My stretch bracelet is no longer available, but this one is similar and marked way down.
Also this seaside oasis station necklace and this seaside oasis cluster earrings both look beautiful with this green dress. And I completed my jewelry with my two-tone watch from Nordgreen. (Use code KAYHRMS for 15% off at Nordgreen)
I chose my knotted strappy cork heel sandals for this look. I like the way these sandals add a little interest and help create that summery, beachy vibe but still give me the benefits of a nude shoe. They run true to size and are currently marked 33% off. They are not the most comfortable shoes, but they do work well for a few hours or so. So while I wouldn’t wear them for a day of sightseeing, I would and do wear them out to dinner.
And I completed the look with my raffia clutch, but it’s no longer available in this natural color. However, the black is marked down significantly. And here is a lovely substitute foldover clutch in this natural shade.
By the way, I love the long three-quarter length sleeves on this dress. They make it feel a little dressier, but also feel comfortable and cool. You could also wear this linen dress for summer open over white jeans and a tank or as an ample coverup over a swimsuit.
Thanks so much for dropping in today. I hope you have a lovely beginning to your week!

If you know anything about Gideon, you may recall that we first encounter him in the book of Judges when he is threshing wheat in the wine press. You only succumb to that kind of make-do environment for separating the grain from the staff when you’re afraid. Gideon was not only living in fear, but he had lost all hope and forgotten how powerful his God was. He was living a sort of half-life because he had no courage, no sense of calling and no understanding of God’s empowering presence.
But just a little later we find Gideon blowing a horn and summoning his fellow Israelites to fight with him against their enemies. What had happened? He had taken a few steps in faith, found God to be trustworthy, gained a little courage and been recognized for his courage. But more importantly, he had been clothed by the Spirit of the Lord. If you have accepted the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, you have one up on Gideon – you have the Holy Spirit WITHIN you. So today let’s be courageous women. Let’s sound the trumpet and step up in faith. And let’s be women who are ready to march on the enemy whenever and however the Lord calls.
So the Spirit of the Lord covered Gideon like clothing; and he blew a trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called together to follow him. And he sent messengers throughout Manasseh, and they also were called together to follow him; and he sent messengers to Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali, and they came up to meet them. ~ 6:34-35
Love the dress, Kay! Your husband’s photography is great!
I love the linen dress. The color is outstanding – it’s very calm but not a neutral. I like that a lot. I also like the pairing with the natural accessories. I have a question – could that dress be belted? I’m just wondering because I like to wear belts. Just wondering?
Yes, I do think it could.
I just can’t get used to the inherent wrinkles of linen. They make me feel unkempt.
Good reminder that women can be brave also and we should be with the power of God within us! We have a HOPE and LIGHT that no one can quench!
