Styling 5 Fall Fashion Trends for the Classic Woman

Incorporating a few trending colors, silhouettes, fabrics or accessories into your wardrobe is a great way to ensure that you look modern this fall. And remember, when you look current you also look more vibrant and youthful. So today I’m styling five fall fashion trends that even the most classic dresser can enjoy wearing.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. The Color Brown

shirt // pants // slingback heels // purse // earrings // necklace // bracelet

Not only will you find a wide selection of brown styles available this fall, but it’s such a versatile neutral to incorporate into your wardrobe. I’ve created a monochromatic brown outfit, which can be so striking. But you can wear this trending hue with so many beautiful colors, too, such as blue, turquoise, pink, red, lavender and more.

Collared Button-Up Shirts

Collars and buttons and cuffs, oh my! Since we’re wearing more wide leg pants this season (more on those in a bit), we’re also wearing more close-fitting tops. To keep things interesting, we’ve swung away from basic tees and now we’re seeing more tops with features like collars, cuffs and buttons. Oh, and ribbed fabric! These are the details that will instantly elevate even the most basic pairings. Here I’m wearing a brown ribbed button-front shirt with a collar and cuffs. It runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium very comfortably. I also love the length of this shirt.

Wide Leg Pull-On Trousers

pants

I’m seeing more beautiful options in pull-on style wide leg pants this season. They make getting dressed for your day feel effortless and comfortable, but you’ll also step out in style with options like these brown plaid cropped flare pants from Tuckernuck. I’m wearing my usual size medium for a very nice fit. These are such a great option for work, but you can easily incorporate them into a more casual outfit, too.

Faux Reptile & Croc Textures

Add a pair of shoes, a belt or a bag in trending faux croc, gator, snake or other reptile to your wardrobe. This chic texture is not only of the moment, but it also adds visual interest to your outfit. My croc embossed leather Dash bag from Veronica Beard is no longer available in this size and color combination. They do have this size in black croc embossed and other textures. And they have this chestnut color croc embossed in a smaller size bag. But I’ve rounded up other options for you to consider, too.

Trending Suede

Suede is such a rich, classic fabric, but it’s having a moment this year (as it did last year). You’ll find suede and faux suede clothing and accessories to choose from. My favorite purchase from 2025 was a suede blazer that I can’t wait to wear again. But you’ll also look current and stylish in suede slingback heels like I’m wearing here (TTS) as well as other accessories.

Will you be incorporating any of these five fall fashion trends into your wardrobe this fall? I’d love to hear about your style choices today.

Blessed for My Day

I’m enjoying precious time with my granddaughter this week. Yesterday we sat down at her little table to have a lemonade party with her toy lemonade tea party set. She’s not even two, but when I noticed her “pouring the lemonade” by holding the tea cups over the spout of the pot rather than the other way around, I decided we needed to fix that. Ha! So I kindly demonstrated to her how to pour from the tea pot spout into the cups. After several demonstrations she quickly picked up the method and mimicked what I was doing.

Paul calls Jesus’ disciples – that’s you and me if we have made Him our Savior and Lord – to “be imitators of God, as beloved children.” My young granddaughter was so pleased with herself when she imitated my behavior. But more importantly, as she imitates her parents and others who love her, she grows in maturity. In the same way, as we walk in a way that reflects the Father’s character and ways, we grow in Christlikeness and become lights in this world. Can you think of things you said or did yesterday that did not reflect God’s love, faithfulness or grace? How can you eagerly imitate your Heavenly Father today?

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. ~ Ephesians 5:1

xoxo, Kay

  1. I’m 4.10 height. Can’t wear wide legs. Can’t wear brown. Looks terrible on me. I could do the shirt styles if I can find them short enough.
    Welcome to my little world!
    I enjoy your posts🤓

  2. Last year I added a chocolate brown cardigan and this year I’ve added brown suede sneakers and a brown suede slouchy bag. It really is a great fall/winter color that goes with so many colors. I like it with my 2 other big colors for this season: Burgundy, olive and tan…such rich combinations. And let’s not forget the controversial brown/black combo! I’m going to wear my black leather pants with my brown suede blazer (camel cashmere sweater under it) and brown suede bag to an engagement party later this month. Love your outfit.

  3. I don’t care for brown on me now that I’ve greyed. My grey isn’t white like yours. You look good in Brown. Loved your BFMD with the granddaughter analogy. I miss mine right now. They live anywhere from 3-5 hours away and last I saw one was the end of August, but it feels way longer. They are so sweet and I’d love to have them closer, more part of their day to day lives. I have 4 right now.

  4. All of them, except I don’t particularly care for croc or reptile pattern. So I would choose another texture, like a woven leather handbag. But brown and suede and wide leg trousers, yes please!

  5. Glad you had a good time at your mom’s 90th birthday party and tea party with your Granddaughter. Some many memories. Hope you took a lot of pictures. Like the brown outfit on you.

  6. What a blessing to have your sweet Mother in your life. Hugs X 100. She obviously has an expert stylist to keep her looking sharp. Love the browns and will pair sweater tops with straight leg pants for my very short stature. Praying your laser eye procedure goes perfectly, as mine did 12 years ago. 🥰

  7. I’m so happy that brown is trending right now. I love chocolate brown and it looks good with my coloring, but for awhile it wasn’t so easy to find. Last year I added a chocolate brown silk skirt and this fall I added a couple of brown shirts that you recommended.
