Happy Friday! This week has gotten all out of whack for me. Hahaha! And while I am indeed sharing spring outfits I’ve worn recently, I also neglected to take photos of so many great outfits I’ve worn these past two weeks. I know you’re giving me lots of grace as I get back on track after this wedding, and I greatly appreciate it. I’ve buckled back into work mode and I’m excited to start delivering these outfit recaps on a more regular basis again. I know many of you enjoy these weekly outfit lookbooks.

Sizing Information

Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.

A Spring Outfit for Church

Again, I apologize for having only a handful of outfits to show you. I’ve really been enjoying wearing so many of my spring clothes. But with wedding details to iron out each day on top of trying to keep things going here and on my YouTube channel, mirror selfies sometimes fell to the wayside.

I wore this first outfit to church on May 1. I set out to style this accordion pleated skirt for all four seasons beginning with this winter post. And I’ve actually worn it several times this spring, but I do believe this was my favorite way to style it for this season.

Accordion Skirt for Spring
pleated skirt (coming soon option) // silk blend sweater // taupe patent leather kitten heels (use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair of Ally heels) // necklace with black drusy // earrings // bangle // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your order)

I gravitate to this soft taupe quite often these days. And I love it paired with just a little bit of black. I’m especially loving my Ally kitten heels in taupe patent leather. By the way, Abigail wore the white lace version of these pumps with her wedding gown. She says they were so comfortable. They sent her two pairs of “sizing shoes” to try on to help her get the right size. If you’re interested in this high quality pumps or other Ally heels, use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair. For flats, use code KAYFLATS for 10% off your first pair.

What I Wore Working from Home & Running Errands

I remember now that I wore this next outfit the day I took my wedding gown in for alterations. It was a little chilly and then turned warm. But these lightweight chinos and gauze shirt (more economical) served me well all day.

Chinos and Gauze Shirt
gauze shirt // lightweight chinos // loafers // similar belt // necklace // earrings and bracelets no longer available // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your purchase)

The Rails gauze shirt has been around for several years and quite popular, but the gauze shirts are really trending this year and I’m seeing them everywhere. I found this one for a song at Kohl’s, this one at J.Crew, and this one at Loft. I find myself reaching for these frequently because they are so versatile. You can wear them alone or over another top (as I’ve done in the next outfit!). And they’re extremely cool and comfortable.

Another Day of Working from Home & Lunch Out

This outfit is not that unlike the one above, just different colors and layers. But I’m really enjoying these cropped length chinos. You’ll see them again down below. In fact, I really wish they came in black because I’d snap them up. They run true to size. Yes, Talbots calls them stovepipe pants, but don’t be confused by the name. They feel and wear like chinos.

Stovepipe Pants

Of course that Rails gauze shirt (more economical option) is not really that color. I never can get that shade of pink to turn out right in these photos. I’m wearing a size medium here and a large in the blue shade above. I had heard you needed to size up, but it turns out that’s just not true. Anyhow, if you’re liking these gauze shirts, I really suggest you check out some of the more affordable options I mentioned.

My Current Workout Favs

I snapped this photo one day after a workout. I decided I wear these things so much I might as well share what I’m currently working out in most days. I love my Athleta salutation capris. They are comfortable but also slimming and very functional. They’re not heavy at all, but still provide good coverage. I find them to run true to size.

My Current Workout Clothes
Athleta salutation capris // Solace Bra (more Athleta bras) // Momentum seamless tank // Bomba socks // running shoes // jacket (other colors are on sale)

My deep pink Momentum seamless tank is no longer available in that color, but it comes in lots of other colors. These are by far my favorite tanks to work out in. They are super soft and comfortable true to size. And this jacket has really come in handy for cool morning walks. It’s on sale in the other colors, and then you can take another 40% off that price. Anyhow, I just wanted to share what I’ve been working out in lately.

A Day of Wedding Details in Georgia

Unfortunately I didn’t take photos of most of my outfits in Georgia. I just really tried to engage with my people and the events of the day. I know it may have seemed to you like I was working since I did have blog posts and a video up each day, but I had created and schedule those a full week in advance. So in real life I hardly got on my computer or even my phone at all.

Stovepipe Pants and Tee
cropped length chinos // drop shoulder tee // similar sandal option // earrings // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your purchase) // bracelets no longer available (similar option)

The first day of taking care of wedding details and spending time with the couple was the only day I managed to take a photo of my outfit really. I wore those same navy cropped length chinos with my cheerful yellow striped drop shoulder tee. I completed the outfit with some oh so soft yellow flip flops I purchased last year. I have these slip on sandals and they would work nicely, too.

Abigail’s Bridesmaids’ Brunch

I did manage to get a photo of me and the bride before her bridesmaids’ brunch on Saturday. I had actually ordered this before leaving home and had it shipped to my mom’s house. It had arrived the day before and I fell in love. This colorful midi dress felt so comfortable and festive, perfect for the occasion.

midi dress (also in plus sizes) (also at Nic+Zoe in regular & petite sizes; put “feather midi dress” in the search engine) // similar gold sandals // earrings // necklace (I have no idea about Abby’s outfit)

They have this lovely midi dress in more sizes and availability at Nic+Zoe. Just put “feather midi dress” in the search engine. But if you’ll shop through this Nic+Zoe link, you can save $20 on your first purchase of $100. I just added some pretty gold jewelry and my similar gold sandals from last year. I have no idea about Abigail’s outfit and, since she’s on her honeymoon, I won’t bother to ask her about it. Ha!

In Real Life…

I did in fact wear several spring outfits that I’ve already shown here on Dressed for My Day, including this shorts outfit that I wore in Georgia…

Trailing Hibisicus Shorts
trailing hibiscus perfect shorts // tipped v-neck slub vest // Tory Burch Miller Sandals in makeup (check out the new Tory Burch Miller Soft Sandals and the Miller Cloud Sandals) // straw handbag // palm pendant necklace // classic hoop earrings // 32 mm Infinity watch (Use code KAYHRMS for an additional 15% off the already great savings)

and this outfit that I wore for Mother’s Day…

Strappy Sandals
linen demi boot pants // white t-shirt (more economical option) // similar white blazer // strappy beige sandals // bracelet // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your purchase) // camera bag (more economical option) // brooch option

and this dress (for the rehearsal dinner).

ruffle eyelet A-line dress (currently 30% off) // sandals (use code SARAHFLINT-BAKAYH for $50 your first order) // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off order)

And that’s a wrap! Stay tuned. I am going to share my Mother of the Bride dress next Tuesday. We took some photos yesterday. I don’t think my makeup looks quite as good as the day of the wedding, but since I don’t have any photos of that day yet, these will have to do. You’ve been patient enough, so I want to share. Thanks so much for stopping in to check out my recent spring outfits. Have a lovely weekend!

Spread the love

Blessed for My Day

Recently my emotions have been a little bit everywhere. I’ve felt a little overwhelmed and exhausted by all the emotions since the wedding. I’ve shared more about that on Instagram stories, but it turns out that it’s quite common for the mother of the bride to feel a little out of sorts immediately following the big day.

As I sat having my quiet time with the Lord this morning I read this scripture and it helped me to sift through my emotions. I’ve really calmed down a lot in the past few days, but still this truth washed over me and helped. I heard the Lord tell me to allow Him to sift through my emotions and pinpoint the ones that were based on truth and those that were based on faulty human perception. As I went through this little exercise with Him, I felt Him lift those faulty emotions off me and replace them with pure joy, love, hope and peace. If you feel weighed down by big emotions today, I encourage you to take them to God. He can help you see the basis for those feelings and lift away those that are not grounded in truth or godly character.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there is any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. ~ Psalm 139:23-24

xoxo, Kay

  1. I had to tell you that I love your favorite linen outfit on you so very much. I also am a linen fabric lover in the summer. You know what the weather is like in Tucson!! I also love the coral dress on you!! If I could still wear heels I would wear that dress as well!!!

  2. Kay,

Your post about difficult feelings after your daughter’s wedding brought back my own difficulties with that transition. It feels unexpectantly unpleasant. The way you’ve addressed is perfect. And, in case you are wondering, your daughter still needs you.

  3. Love love love Mother’s Day outfit, cropped linen pants, white linen jacket, etc. Beautiful outfit and lovely on U!! Also love the ruffled islet square neck 👗 dress. However wouldn’t work for me — long waist. Anxiously awaiting wedding pictures 😊😊.

  4. Love the pink dress!! Looking forward to see your Mother of Bride dress. The pink dress was beautiful on you! Congratulations to everyone🌹🥂

  5. Excellent Blessed for my Day post! Very good advice!

Four of my children are married and i understand how you feel.

  6. Hi Kay In my experience as a parent (I have a grown son), I find that my emotions run high too for any event that involves him. We haven’t had a wedding but he has had successes in life that involve celebrations or performances. I am thrilled for him and there is a sort of let down right after, maybe part of it is because it’s over. He has lived in NYC, London and Southern Illinois. I am happy for him that he can live where he needs to for work BUT every time he leaves, I get that empty feeling in my heart. Maybe that’s just being a mother or a parent. It sounds as if you and your husband have done a wonderful job as parents. Congratulations on Abigail’s wedding. She is beautiful as you are!

  7. Hello Kay! I am catching up on all my emails. I love, love, love the accordian skirt on you with the beige polo type top! It looks smashing on you. And the pink dress you wore to the bridesmaid lunch was exquisite on you. Pink is most definitely your color. You nailed it and again with your style choices. Blessings 🙏
