It’s time! We’re kicking off Spring Trend Week 2026 today with a peek at the colors we’ll see flooding our favorite retailers and the streets. While most colors never really go “out of style” and you should enjoy wearing the colors that make you happiest and help you look your best, these are the hues that will prevail in supply this year. That means if you enjoy wearing any of these trending spring fashion colors, you might want to invest in a few pieces in these shades while they’re plentiful. Let’s check out the spring fashion colors trending in 2026.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

This spring we’re seeing some of the popular colors from 2025 continue to be in vogue. So you can keep mixing and blending these favorites with spring-like hues to freshen them up for the new season. But we also have some colors as fresh as the flowers that will soon burst forth from the ground. Adding one or two of these to your wardrobe will help your outfits to feel and look current and novel.

While my list here is not exhaustive and you’ll certainly see other colors in your favorite stores this spring, these are my top picks for the spring fashion colors that I think will be most wearable for women over 50. As we age, our own coloring begins to fade a bit – in our eyes, hair and skin. So I’ve taken that into account as I’ve selected the spring fashion colors trending in 2026 that I also think will suit us beautifully. That said, we’re all unique. So let me know in the comments below the post which of these colors you will enjoy incorporating into your outfits in the coming season.

Espresso Brown

I’m so intrigued to see that espresso brown is continuing to prevail on the fashion scene this spring and even into summer. It’s been so popular this past fall and winter, but this is the first warm weather season when we can expect to see it mixed into fresh, seasonal outfits.

picture

By the way, throughout the post I’m featuring outfit photos from favorite retailers. Some of the outfits shown (like the one above) are from higher priced brands. That’s simply because these brands are the ones that tend to set the bar. Even if you don’t shop from them, they’re often the best place to look for inspiration. But you certainly can click through the links in the captions of these illustrations to check out the details about the outfits shown. (In fact, I did purchase the outfit above and I’m anticipating wearing it on our trip to Arizona next week!)

How to Wear Espresso Brown

If you already have brown accessories in your wardrobe, continue to wear them with spring colors like coral pink, shades of blue, lavender and ivory. Or you could add springier fabrics such as gauze, cotton, linen and lightweight cashmere to your wardrobe in this trending hue. Wear it head to toe in those warm weather fabrics, as in the photo above, or pair it with creamy pastels, blue denim, white jeans or shades of red.

Shop the Color

For each of our spring fashion colors trending in 2026 I’m furnishing you with a shopping widget filled with items in that hue. I invite you to at least scroll through the widgets for additional visuals in the trending colors. You’re certainly welcome to shop through them, as it is not too early at all to start filling out your spring wardrobe. But my main goal here is inspiration. Let’s get excited about the season to come!

Navy

Of course navy is a classic neutral and it’s always a beautiful one to wear as the backbone of your spring color palette. But this year navy is especially prevalent in the stores. I know so many women over 50 like to lean into this classic rather than black, which can feel harsh against our fading complexions and eyes. So navy is a beautiful choice to substitute in for black, but it also distinctly helps to create a trending nautical vibe and looks fresh against so many of the traditional spring hues like pink, green and yellow.

picture

How to Wear Navy

I love navy head to toe, as in the outfit above. But notice that they’ve intentionally added light to this outfit with bold, gold buttons and metallic sandals. Keep that in mind as you create monochromatic navy outfits. But you can also enjoy wearing colors such as pink, red, green, orange and yellow back to navy. This year, “color play” is expected to trend, so consider ways you can create interesting and unusual pairings with classic navy. I think navy and lavender is so interesting, as is navy with grassy green. What do you like to wear with this classic?

Shop the Color

Cobalt Blue

Bright, bold cobalt blue will take on a new look when paired with spring outfits. We’ve enjoyed wearing this jewel tone this winter, but when you wear it with white jeans or warm khaki shorts you’ll feel fresh and springlike. This pretty shade is especially becoming on women with dark hair and/or blue eyes. What about you? Do you like to wear this bright blue?

picture

How to Wear Cobalt Blue

If you prefer to create outfits to match your high contrast in intensity, pair cobalt blue with white or ivory. But if you have low contrast in the intensity of your eye, hair and skin colors, consider wearing this spring fashion color with camel for medium contrast or espresso brown for low contrast.

Shop the Color

Phone Booth Red

This spring 2026 we’re seeing a large volume of red garments and accessories in the stores. I’m really seeing everything from warm, fiery red to cooler popsicle red. But perhaps the most prevailing tone I’m spotting is a beautifully neutral phone booth red. At any rate, I think every woman will be able to find a red that suits if you’d like to wear this spring fashion color.

How to Wear Phone Booth Red

Look for reds that suit your personal coloring and undertone. Need help determining the best colors for you to wear? Check out this blog post, How to Dress in Colors that Help You Shine and this one, What to Wear So You’re Eyes Pop. They’re old posts, but the information in them is timeless and invaluable.

Monochromatic red outfits will help you look confident and bold. But if you’d prefer to add red to other colors, consider pairing it with light blue and white or ivory for a very modern look. You could also wear it with just white and maybe a splash of soft yellow. And for a little color play, try red with pale lavender or soft orange.

Shop the Color

Shades of Green

It’s always a good idea to wear a little green in spring…such a nod to the season! And this spring we’re seeing so many shades of this earthy color – there’s truly something for everyone. I’m loving this vibrant fern green, but I also am fond of this pistachio green, shown below. But you’ll also find plenty of darker and lighter shades to choose from. Because I have light green eyes, I love wearing this spring fashion color trending in 2026. What about you?

picture

How to Wear These Shades of Green

Since we’re playing with colors this spring and summer, I think it looks interesting and fun to mix greens, like they did in the outfit above. But you can also wear one shade head to toe – adding contrast with gold accessories and jewelry. And it could be nice to pair shades of green with navy, espresso brown, blue or white denim, and even pale yellow accents.

Shop the Color

Pale Pink

As a woman over 50, I’m very excited about the emerging pale pink for spring 2026. We’re seeing the lightest pinks I think I’ve ever seen, in fact, almost ivory. These subtle pastels will look soft and flattering against silver and grey hair. Especially if your own coloring is light, wearing pale pink could look so soft and sophisticated.

picture

How to Wear Pale Pink

If you don’t especially like pink around your face because you fear that it accents the red in your skin, try wearing it in a skirt, like above, or even shorts or pants. Pair it with ivory, white, camel or rich, espresso brown. Of course, pale pink also looks seasonally fresh with trending navy, too.

Shop the Color

Cloud Dancer White

Cloud Dancer White is actually the Pantone color of the year for 2026. Many people have expressed disappointment in that choice because it’s such a neutral. I get it. But I do think this creamy ivory has potential to look both sophisticated and soft, especially when worn head to toe. But even as an accent or pairing, this soft white will look on trend and current.

picture

How to Wear Cloud Dancer White

If you prefer low contrast in intensity pairing, make sure you have a pair of light wash denim in your wardrobe. See how it blends beautifully with Cloud Dancer White in the outfit above. But if you prefer high contrasting dressing, it will pair beautifully with navy, espresso brown and dark wash jeans, too. This ivory shade will also work nicely with pale pink, soft yellow, icy blue and light green.

Shop the Color

Icy Blue

The final spring fashion color trending in 2026 that I’m highlighting for women over 50 is icy blue. Again, this soft shade looks beautiful with so many skin, hair and eye colors. And it’s easy to pair with other things already in our closets. You can create fun, playful pairings with phone booth red or soft yellow. But you can also keep this cool shade sophisticated by wearing it with espresso brown or ivory.

picture

How to Wear Icy Blue

Icy blue is definitely a nice shade to wear head to toe. But also consider adding an accessory or two in a contrasting pastel, like pale yellow or soft green. For a little color play, wear icy blue with pistachio green or a fun orange.

Shop the Color

Remember, no color is “bad.” And while some standout colors will look a little dated this year – I’m looking at you, Barbie pink and neon yellow – most colors never really go out of style. So, just as you would only cut a few spring flowers from an overflowing garden to fill your vase, you can pick and choose carefully the colors you want to wear. And, likewise, you can leave the remaining hues for other women to enjoy with their unique coloring and personalities. Let me know in the comments below which spring fashion colors trending in 2026 will fill your wardrobe. Thanks so much for stopping in!

Blessed for My Day

Dear friend, do not let anyone shame you today. If someone tells you they are disappointed in a choice you’ve made or they’re appalled that you would wear something or they would never do what you have done, you need to politely but firmly remove yourself from that conversation. I’m not sure there is always a suitable, polite response to some of those shaming comments. But you certainly do not have to subject yourself to them.

Why do I take such a strong stance on this? Because shaming is a tool of imposing fear. As the Bible says, it “has to do with punishment.” People shame other people when they want to put them down, punish them or make them feel small. And really, shaming comes from a place of brokenness and insecurity. You are created in God’s image, loved and pursued by His grace and redeemed by the blood of Christ. Walk today in His love with your head held high. Proud? No. But humbly right with your God and living in his love and grace.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. ~ 1 John 4:18

  1. Good morning Kay! Great post and wow, what a surprising mix of trending colors this spring. As always, I’m glad espresso brown is trending – as my primary neutral, it is easier to find when it’s popular. Other trending colors I will be able to wear (as long as they are the warm version of them) – navy, red, cloud dancer white, & green. The other colors don’t suit me, but will definitely look gorgeous on other women! 🙂 I know navy can lean nautical, a look that just isn’t for me, so I tend to wear my navy either monochromatically or with teal, green, or espresso brown. That keeps the anchors away. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.) 😉 And EXCELLENT BFMD!!!

  2. I’ve been stuck in navy and black for far too long. My closet is in need of a complete over-haul and a desperate need of color. Thank you for the post today.

  3. Happy birthday, Kay 🌸🧁🎊. I’m glad you got to celebrate at your favorite restaurant yesterday. We had some snow here too, I’m also in SW Ohio. It snowed here all day yesterday and the wind was so cold. I love the color green, I have green eyes so it makes my eyes pop. The other colors are pretty too.

  4. Happy Birthday, Kay!

There are lots of pretty spring colors in this post! Lately, I have been loving bright, royal blue, and have seen more of it available and added it to my wardrobe. I also love navy. And I am ready for some spring weather!

  5. Thank you for that reminder in your personal note today, Kay. We go to God, we search our heart with Him, and we move forward and away from such comments. Also wanted to comment on the makeup video-awesome! and I discovered the caviar eyeshadow sticks a few years ago when going on a trip-thought they would be good for traveling instead of powder-I need to get out of that rut and use them regularly-thank you!

  6. Happy birthday Kay! God bless you and wish you many more. Your message about shaming is very powerful. Since my hair is now silver I’m mostly sticking to what colors looks good on me. I love icy blue and pale pink. Also navy and greens with more blue in them. If I wear warmer colors or neutrals, it will not be on the bottom. Really dark brown looks good on the top probably because it’s close to black.

  7. Happy Birthday Kay! 🎉🎂🍷💐. Glad you got out and enjoyed a nice dinner. Sitting by the fire sounds like the perfect thing to do today. Enjoyed the post.

  8. Happy Birthday, Kay! I love the wall of James’ artwork. Really fun and different.

My favorites are navy, pretty much a perennial for me, and cloud dancer. I don’t do well with pastels, like the fresh bright green and am perusing paintings for inspiration as you suggested last year. Thanks for putting in all the hard work!

  9. Happy Birthday Kay!

I love all of the trending colors! Blue and green are my favorite colors but the pastel pink looks pretty too! I’m looking forward to what the shoe trend will be for spring and summer. You do a fabulous job of keeping us updated. Thank you so so much because I know it requires a lot of time and work.

  10. I love when you do the new colors for the season. Lets you know what colors are going to be in the stores and what to add to your wardrobe or shop from your closet. I like navy and pink together. Or pink and olive, though more Fall. Maybe pink with the new light green shades would look nice. Navy and red are always classic. I like icy blue or cobalt blue and white. More people should think about your subject on the BFMD.

  11. I’m happy about pink and I always have blue in my closet but for some reason don’t grab it much. I’m not one to wear bright colors together in the Spring to stand out. My actual go to top to wear in any style is white.

  12. Oh and Happy Birthday today!!!!! Hope you feel loved and celebrated. What a wonderful gift to get a gallery wall from James with his photos.

  13. Best wishes Kay for a very happy birthday.
Thank you for letting us know the trending colours for spring. These are all colours I like and enjoy wearing.

  14. These are all lovely colors. My favorites are red and green. The mixed green outfit is especially pretty and a little unexpected – I love it when I can have a little bit of unexpected in my outfits.

  15. Happy Birthday Kay! Thank you for this inspiration. Over the last couple years I’ve been refining my closet by cutting back on the multiple prints, limiting the full rainbow of colors and leaning toward a more limited selection with neutrals. It has now left my wardrobe crying out for some bold colors and this spring collection is most appealing. Now just to incorporate what will fit with what I already have.

  16. I’m swooning over the pistachio sweater from Tuckernuck and the stunning skirt they show with it! But the part of your post that really caught my eye was how you explained the verse I John 4:18… I’ve never understood that verse before, particularly in the seasons of life where I was full of fear. Thank you for this, Kay. Much to meditate upon!

  17. Kaye,

    Happy birthday!

I was thinking about you today. I think about you often when I wear something that you have suggested that I bought and just love. Today it’s a pair of jeans that you showed a good while ago. You may not remember them, but I ordered them. They are the Katie jeans from Fidelity. They fit me perfectly, I love them. They really are one of my favorite pair of jeans. Thank you for that.

I always look forward to your posts.
