Happy Friday! I tell you what, this has been a busy week! So I’m thankful for the opportunity to catch my breath a little this weekend…maybe. But first I’d like to share with you my picks from another sale…the Talbots Summer Clearance Sale!
If you watched Wednesday’s video, Shop Summer Clearance Sales Like a BOSS, you know that I peruse the end of season sales with some filters. But let me clear the air by saying those rules are not hard and fast. They’re simply guidelines to help me use my money wisely and prevent buyer’s remorse later.
For instance, I generally try to stay away from purchasing prints at the end of the season, especially prints composed of that season’s hottest colors. It’s not that those garments will be completely out of style next year. They won’t. But they will look dated earlier than solid colored garments will.
For instance, I have loved, loved, loved wearing these floral print pants this summer. But the colors that make up the print are decidedly summer 2020 shades. I might still wear them next year, but more than likely there will be a different, more current print turning my head by then. So I’m glad I’ve worn them 38 times this year! (Not really. But I’ve probably worn them once a week or more since I bought them, no joke.)
That’s why I selected solid colored t-shirts in colors that I wear every year from the Talbots end of season clearance sale. My signature colors are red, pink, blue and green. So I know I’ll be working these solid tees into my wardrobe next spring and summer, too.
I also managed to pick up a pair of white denim shorts in the sale. Obviously I can wear these for years. And if the length feels too long next year, I can easily cut them off and roll them up a bit more. Basic like these are always a good idea at the end of the season.
I did have a viewer comment on YouTube that, while she agreed with all of my tips, she also likes to look for classic handbags and good quality statement jewelry at the end of the season. I couldn’t agree more! If you find a solid colored leather handbag or a classic straw bag at a great clearance price, grab it! Check out Talbots’ sale bags here. I bought the straw bag shown here earlier in the season, by the way.
And my YouTube subscriber pointed out that Chico’s consistently has good quality, interesting statement jewelry on sale. I agree. But when I perused Talbots Sale Jewelry I found an equally impressive assortment of good quality pieces at good prices.
Unfortunately, Talbots classic enamel bangles are not marked down yet (as I’m writing this post), but I’m hoping they either go on sale soon or they offer a percentage off full price items. The white one has been in my jewelry box for three years now and I’ve accumulated a fun collection of colors, so I wear these enamel bangles almost daily.
Along with the items I’ve shown here, I’ve collected other pieces from Talbots end of season sale to put in a shopping widget for you. Right now Talbots is offering 60% off end of season markdowns. They also have tees for $9.99, shorts for $14.99 and dresses for $29.99 here. Finally, they’re also giving you 30% off regular price T by Talbots athleisure and activewear right now.
I’d definitely check out Talbots’ jeans that are on sale. Some are marked down simply because they’re being replaced with newer washes. But they are still perfectly stylish and great for the fall. Also, pay attention to any linen pieces you might see.

Blessed for My Day
Unique. It’s such a frustrating concept sometimes. At some moments I absolutely crave individuality and I celebrate my uniqueness. At other times I long to fit in, to be just like everyone else. Do you share that inner struggle?
But the beauty is that in Christ Jesus we are both part of the bigger picture and divinely unique. I’ve found that when I seek my identity in Christ rather than through comparison or contrast, I find the perfect balance of feeling special and significant, but also a part of the family. Isn’t that a beautiful part of belonging to God’s family?
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. ~ Ephesians 2:10
