How I Really Dressed for My Day

Happy Friday! It’s time for me to run through my recent real life outfits again. At first as I looked through my photos I thought I didn’t have much to show you. Then I remembered that James had actually taken photos of a couple of my outfits to use for blog posts this week. Let’s check out how I really dressed for my days this week.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask. All available items are linked in the captions of the photos. Even if they don’t look like links (sometimes they don’t highlight for some reason), they generally are. So just click through if you’re interested.

What I Wore Friday

Last Friday I got out to do a little “blog research,” aka shopping. Mostly window shopping, mind you. I’m just always trying to stay up-to-date on what various stores are offering. I stopped in at Gap and got a couple pairs of new jeans and tried on their trench coat, too. It’s a good one! And it runs true to size for an oversized fit. Anyhow, for that unseasonably not-too-cold day I wore my Frame straight leg ankle length jeans (similar jeansmore economical option) with a graphic tee and my navy Veronica Beard Miller jacket (more economical option).

blazer (more economical option) // tee is unavailable (alternative graphic tee) // similar jeans (more economical option) // belt // sneakers // earrings // bracelet // bucket bag (more economical option)

I completed the look with my retro sneakers, a cognac belt and my new bucket bag with cognac trim. I wore my bright gold Julie Vos earrings and chain bracelet. This outfit felt really comfortable, but also modern and sporty for a day of shopping in an outdoor mall.

What I Wore Saturday

I spent Saturday at home working on home things. I dressed for comfort in my black joggers with this oatmeal colored tank and boyfriend style cardigan. I love having comfortable loungewear/athleisurewear that also looks coordinated and sharp.

cardigan // tank // joggers // sneakers // earrings

I finished this stay-at-home outfit with my sneakers. Because of my metatarsalgia, I have to wear a bit of a heel all the time. So I wear these sneakers frequently. I love that I can just slip them on and off, no tying necessary.

What I Wore Sunday

Sunday we went to church and then stopped to take the photos for the blog before going out to lunch. So if you’ve been around this week you’ve probably already seen this early spring outfit.

Modern White Jeans Outfit for Early Spring 2024
white pintuck flare jeans //  Jenni Kayne cotton fisherman sweater (similar cotton fisherman sweater) // sand suede booties (another option) // Sarah Flint X Gracie Tropics silk scarf (more economical options) // shoulder bag // earrings // trench coat

I love the combination of white and oatmeal or beige, especially as a transition from winter to spring. With the right textures it feels so appropriate for winter, but looks fresh like spring.

What I Wore Monday After Videoing

Monday we shot videos and, believe it or not, I actually ended up wearing this outfit for the longest that day. I guess I put it on first, did a little work in my office and such, and then shot the video of this outfit as we began taping for the day. It’s amazing how much more productive I am when I get dressed in something smart.

light blue blazer (more economical option) // tank (more economical option and here to match the suggested blazer) // Southampton pants // heels (more economical option) // earrings // necklace // bracelet // purse

Well, actually I’m pretty productive even if I’m wearing my pajamas and robe. Ha! But I think I feel smarter, work smarter and enjoy the work more if I’m dressed professionally. I certainly don’t do that all the time, but I can’t help but take note when I do.

What I Wore Wednesday

Tuesday I was right back in that jogger, tank and cardigan outfit from Saturday as I spent the day editing Wednesday’s YouTube video. Then Wednesday we had to shoot a lot of footage for yesterday’s blog post with Walmart and an upcoming blog post with Bombas socks. So I wore this outfit most of the morning…

No Socks Seen

…and the one in the Walmart blog post the rest of the day. You’ll see that outfit above in next Monday’s blog post, but I won’t be able to link to anything in it except the socks…which you can’t even see here. Ha! So let me give you a run-down of the outfit now. I got those fun straight leg carpenter jeans at Gap last Friday. They won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love them for a very on trend casual option. I remember my friend Candy had similar jeans in high school and I always wanted some like them. They fit TTS; I’m wearing a 30.

Socks as gifts

I topped this very casual outfit with a blue long sleeve tee from Athleta and a boyfriend shaker-stitch cardigan from Gap. James and I did stop for coffee during this photo shoot, and this casual outfit felt so comfortable but very on trend. It was one of those coffee shops where everyone is a little cooler than I am. Ha! But I felt like I fit in perfectly in this outfit…not that that really matters, hahaha.

And really that’s all I have for the week. Truth be told, I didn’t get out of my pajamas yesterday until after noon. I was just so intent on trying to get the wardrobe essentials style boards done for yesterday’s second blog post. And I honestly don’t even remember what I put on my body then. Ha! Today I’m definitely getting dressed in something that makes me feel productive but also is suitable for the day. I’m doing a LOT of housework today, mostly moving things around and laundry, nothing messy.

Blessed for My Day

Sometimes our hearts well up with love; other times we have to dig deep to access love for other people. Do you find that to be true? When Jesus called us to love one another, He didn’t mean we should keep the flames of romance burning, although that’s certainly a good idea in a marriage. He was calling us to tap into His amazing and enduring love for us and then love others with that same selfless, action-oriented, gracious love.

How can we love those who are not very lovable? We can remember that Christ loved us and died for us while we were sinners. And He continues to love us even when we deny, disobey or doubt Him. Not only that, but Jesus loves that unlovable person in our lives, too. When we remember the way Jesus has loved us and we recall that He created and loves that difficult person, we can choose to treat them with love as well. And when we do that, we are really loving our Savior and Lord.

For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. ~ 1 John 3:11

  1. Love the devotional as always. The outfit with the Veronica Beard blazer looks very sharp on you. All the outfits are nice on you. I like the casual carpenter jeans. I just bought wide leg cargo pants. I’m excited about wearing them. I am learning to embrace casual clothes which is the life I lead.

  2. Thanks for today. I like the What you wore everyday. Gives ideas. Just even jiggles my brain a bit about that I could wear something different, in a different way. Love, Cathy
