This year I’ve shared several posts featuring styles from Avara. This relatively young brand was founded by a Texas mom, and it continues to grow at a fast pace. Yes, you may have noticed that they feature a lot of ruffles and bows. But I’ve seen a shift this year as they’ve broadened their offering. I’m seeing more classic styles that I can really get behind. And honestly, I need the impetus to add some vibrant colors to my looks occasionally. If you want to brighten up your winter wardrobe a bit, the new Avara winter collection is the place to start.
My Khloe pink striped sweater is a perfect example of how you can brighten up your winter outfits, but still look classic with a minimalist vibe. There’s nothing fussy about this outfit; it’s just modern, relaxed, fun and cheerful.
The Khloe striped sweater also comes in navy, grey and cream. It fits very generously true to size, but you could consider sizing down if you’re between sizes. I’ve worn the sweater with the Brighton medium wash straight leg jeans (more on those in a bit) and the Sylvie tan striped sneakers, which are so comfortable and fit true to size.
The sneakers are another example of a trending classic that has been brightened up a bit with a gold accent on the heels. These stylish sneakers are the perfect complement to relaxed fit jeans for a modern vibe. They’re already a great price, but when you take 30% off…these are going to go fast. I usually wear a half size (which they don’t carry), so I sized up to the next whole size for a nice fit.
Next I got the Patricia white Fair Isle sweater to wear with the Brighton jeans. This super soft and cozy pullover is a relaxed fit with a slight puff in the sleeves. It has a generous fit true to size. I love the cheerful combination of red and pink on a background of ivory.
The Brighton jeans are by a new-to-me brand, Flying Monkey, and I LOVE them. These are a very on trend wider straight leg jean. But they don’t look sloppy like some do. They feature a mid-high rise and they have nice stretch, but still feel like jeans are supposed to.
They are a fairly long jean, so they work best on me with a heeled bootie. But I was able to wear the sneaker for a more relaxed vibe. I’m wearing my usual size 30 for a great fit. Super comfortable; super on trend. These will look great with all of the sweaters in the new Avara winter collection.

Yes, Mary questioned the angel when He announced God’s plan for her. But she didn’t doubt God; she just didn’t understand. You may recall that when her cousin Elizabeth’s husband Zecharia questioned the angel’s announcement of his son, he was silenced until after the child’s birth and naming. What was the difference? We must assume that the difference was rooted in their hearts.
God knows our hearts. And we can trust that God noted skepticism in Zecharia’s question whereas He only heard wonderment and awe in Mary’s. If you’re more of a skeptic by nature, Christmas is a good time to develop a little more awe and fascination. A good place to start is with the angel’s final words to Mary: For nothing will be impossible with God. What seems impossible in your life today? Take it to the Lord and trust Him with the outcome. I can’t guarantee what He will do with that “impossible” situation. But I know He will do what is best for you and to His glory, just like He did for Mary.
But Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; for that reason also the holy Child will be called the Son of God. For nothing will be impossible with God.” ~ Luke 1:34-35,37

Love the second red, pink and ivory sweater on you. Soooo pretty. Your face just glows. I’ve bought a few short sleeve blouses from AVARA but that’s it. Sometimes it’s too ruffly and colorful for me. I’ve never tried their denim yet. I like these you styled.
