Happy Friday, dear gals! Today I’m sharing the photos from my shopping trip to LOFT yesterday. I was surprised at how many things I liked and that fit nicely. And through Saturday, you can get 30-50% off almost everything at Loft.

  • 30% off accessories
  • 40% off sweaters
  • 50% off jeans
  • 40% off tops
  • 40% off pants

Sizing Information

Just so you’ll know what you’re looking at and be able to gauge sizes, let me give you my size information.

I’m 5’8″ and 150-ish pounds with a curvy body shape and balanced proportions. I normally wear size 8 in pants, size 6 in jeans, smalls and mediums in tops and an 8 in dresses and jackets.

For each piece I’ll give you the size I’m wearing and any fit information I think is pertinent. But I’m also showing you some ways to style things.

Loft Try-On Session

leopard jacquard midi dress // (size 8, TTS) This dress has a little bit of stretch to it and a zipper up the back. Next I tried it on with a black duster just because I wanted to see how it would look with one I have already.

Loft Try-On Session

golden button duster sweater // (size small, TTS) This is a fairly sheer sweater. It has a lot of stretch in it and a nice drape. It’s not a heavy sweater at all. It’s also available in ivory.

Plaid Ponte Leggings

plaid ponte leggings // (size Medium/ TTS) I was surprised at how much I liked these plaid ponte leggings. They feel good on, not binding or tight, but they don’t feel like they will start sagging and bagging, either. Of course, only wear and time would tell. But generally Loft makes nice leggings that stand up to wear. And these are very on trend with the pretty navy, black and taupe plaid.

shirttail sweater in maple heather // (size Small/ TTS) I’ve been thinking that I’d like to have a camel colored pullover. But after looking at these photos I’m not sure it’s a good color near my face. But this easy, light to mid weight sweater is a nice staple. It comes in four colors.

Back View

I thought I should show you the back view, too, although I don’t do very well photographing these. I think these are great leggings. And they’re currently 40% off.

By the way, I probably wouldn’t wear them with this particular sweater, but I neglected to carry into the fitting room a better alternative.

Loft Try-On Session

plaid slim pants in ivory multi // (size 8, TTS) These plaid slim pants are composed of lovely colors. You could wear them with so many different tops or sweaters. And I almost bought them. I would have if I could have justified having more pants like these.

Keep in mind, as you look at where the hem falls, that I’m 5’8″. They are also available in a curvy fit, petite and tall.

mock neck sweater tank in whisper white // (size small, TTS) This mock neck sleeveless sweater has a nice drape and works wonderfully under jackets and cardigans. It’s not too sheer and is fairly lightweight.

Camel Blazer

Camel blazer // (size 8, TTS) Well, I don’t seem to be able to find this camel elbow patch blazer on the website. Odd. But this herringbone knit modern blazer seems to be similar, but, of course, not camel. Anyhow, I thought I wanted to a camel blazer. But now I think they look immensely better on women with darker hair and/or skin.

Corduroy Blazer

Corduroy Modern Blazer // (size 8, runs slightly large) I think this royal ruby corduroy blazer looks much better with my light hair color and fair skin. It’s amazing how much difference a color makes.

I wasn’t planning to like this blazer, but I do. In fact, I really wanted to buy it but it’s not marked down. So I’ll be watching it for one of Loft’s 50% off sales.

By the way, this blazer is supposed to be a long fit. But it does also come in petite sizing. Also, I’m wearing an 8 above, but you’ll see me in the 6 later in the post.

wide leg jeans

Sailor Wide Leg Crop Jeans in vivid light indigo wash // (size 28, TTS or size down) These wide leg crop jeans were another surprise. And I’m not sure these photos do them justice. It’s hard to take straight-on photos of yourself. Ha!

But these jeans feel great on. They’re soft and comfortable, but also trendy and fun. I think they look great around the waist and hips without hugging you too tightly. I often wear a 29 in jeans, but went down to a 28 in these because I felt like the 29s might stretch with wear and start to sag.

Back View of jeans

Leopard Print 3/4 Sleeve Cardigan // (size Small, TTS) I mainly tried on this leopard print cardigan because I felt like these jeans needed a close fitting top with them. But I do love this cardigan. It’s a nice, authentic looking leopard print. It’s lightweight and the buttons fall where a small chested gal like me can wear it as a pullover.

I’m wearing a small here, and it fits okay. But I would probably try a medium if I were seriously considering buying it. Just for a looser fit.

cropped pants and sweatshirt

Floral Embroidered Sweatshirt // (size Small, TTS) This floral embroidered sweatshirt is cozy and soft. And the embroidery does not feel heavy or bothersome. Know what I mean? It really wears more like a sweater, but does have a casual, sweatshirt vibe to it.

Wide Leg Pants in camo olive // (size 8, TTS) These wide leg pants are also fun and feel great. You can wear these wide leg pants with flats, sneakers or booties, by the way. These are made of a pretty heavy cotton with just 2% elastane, so they feel like well structured pants.

floral tie front top

Floral Tie Hem Blouse // (size Small, TTS) For a slightly dressier look, I like this floral blouse with these olive green wide leg pants. The blouse is lightweight, has a nice drape and feels easy on. The cuffs of the sleeves fit loose, not binding at all.

distressed skinny jeans

Destructed High Rise Slim Pocket Skinny Jeans in Indigo Wash // (size 29, TTS) While I wear 28s and 29s in denim, I chose to try on the 29 in these skinny jeans. I never got around to trying the other size, but I like the way the 29 fit. I love, love, love these jeans, and came home with them.

The jeans are long, so if you’re shorter than my 5’8″ you might have to have them hemmed for a nice fit or roll them up. But I absolutely love the way these jeans feel. They’re on par with some of the premium denim I’ve tried and own. The distressing is just the right amount to make you look current and casual without appearing sloppy. And the high rise is a definite plus in my book.

Remember, LOFT jeans are 50% off through Saturday only.

V-Neck Shirttail Tunic Tee in starry night heather// (size Small, TTS) – This simple tunic tee is fairly lightweight without being a true tissue tee. It fits slightly tailored to the body, but doesn’t cling. I’m wearing a small, but there’s still plenty of give in this tunic tee.

faux suede moto jacket

Faux Suede Moto Jacket in rosy mauve // (size Small, TTS or size down) I’m not very good at deciding if something runs true to size or not since I , like most gals, often wear two different sizes. But you definitely want to go with the lower of your two sizes or just size down in this moto jacket.

It’s a pretty color, has a nice medium weight drape and looks very current. This is a great way to add a little edginess to your outfit without feeling like a fraud. Know what I mean?

I can’t find the floral shell on the website, but I’ll keep looking! But here’s another one I love even more.

Butterfly Flutter Cap Sleeve Shell // (size Small, TTS) I came home with this floral shell. I just absolutely love the colors. These are the dark florals that I think look best on us older gals. They’re modern, vibrant and fun.

This little shell has a beautiful drape and can be worn tucked in or left out.

Red Blazer

And that’s it! The photo above is my favorite outfit from the try-on session. I came home with the jeans and the shell. I’m watching for the royal ruby corduroy blazer to go on sale. Oh, and here I’ve sized down to a 6. And you can see it’s still plenty roomy. So definitely size down in this blazer.

I also bought the wide leg jeans, a pair of pretty earrings to wear with this shirt, sunglasses and this yummy shirttail open cardigan in pale oatmeal heather that I didn’t manage to get a photo of.

Let me know if you have any questions about the items I’ve shown here or the collection overall. I did actually try on a few other things that just didn’t make the cut when I started condensing things for the post.

Also, I’m updating my Shop My Loft Favorites page today, so stay check in there, too.

Blessed for My Day

Maybe today we need to be reminded that this life is not the end. Maybe we need the hope of eternity planted fresh in our souls. There is a God who loves us too much to let this be it. There is more.

Are you prepared for Jesus’ return? Are you anticipating the day you meet Him with joy? Did you know that He has gone to prepare a place just for you? He loves you so. I hope that you know that today.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.  ~ John 14:3

Spread the love

  1. I have several ponte leggings from Loft from 2 years ago. They wear really well – no sagging, so comfortable. I think I might get another pair this year. Thanks for this try-on session. I mostly shop on-line (since I hate shopping), and Loft is one of my go-to sites.

    1. Great to hear about the leggings. I do find Loft sizes to be fairly consistent too, making that another great reason to shop online with them. Plus they often run flash sales online. Thanks for sharing, Arna.

  2. Hi Kay! I agree with you regarding the oatmeal color near your face. The ruby color is much more flattering with your light colored hair and fair skin. I’m the same way! You tried on some nice things. I too love the last outfit you shared 5e best. I am going to start trying on my fall clothes today, so that I only put the pieces that really work for me in my closet. Have fun at the baseball game tonight! Love the BFMD!

    1. Thanks so much Ginger. We’re really looking forward to the game. It’s been a while since we have lived near a major league team we enjoy. So this will be fun. ?

  3. I agree as well on the Ruby color jacket better than the very light one. I’m looking for a nice basic black blazer ( boyfriend style) I’ll have to check out the Loft.

  4. Hi Kay, my Mom and I absolutely love your blog. Loft is one of our favorite places to shop. That ruby blazer, floral top and the jeans were my favorite on you also. The colors look perfect on you! I’m 5’9 so I’m definitely going to check out those jeans and the earrings especially at 50% off?. I hope you have a lot of fun at the game tonight!! Have a blessed weekend! P.S. I also want to get your devotion book on Amazon. You are a gifted writer and I love your inner beauty Saturdays! Having the peace of knowing Jesus makes us smile more and our outward beauty shine!!
