Happy Friday! It’s time for me to pull back the curtain on what I really wore this week. In the past couple of years specifically, I’ve tried to be all the more careful about only modeling outfits for blog posts and YouTube videos that I would actually wear in my real life. In truth I’d say that probably 98% of the outfits I show you are indeed ones that I would wear and even have worn. But I try to be authentic in my outfit choices because I know you’re looking for real life inspiration, not lofty ideals. One of the best tools I’ve put into place to help me stay accountable to that goal is simply to share my real life outfits periodically. So let’s see how I really Dressed for My Day this week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
What I Wore On a Cool Friday
Friday morning I drove to a nearby town to pick up my box of peaches from the Peach Truck. It was a beautiful day so I stopped at a charming little coffee shop on the way home and just enjoyed the morning out.

I wore my cotton blend relaxed utility pants with a pretty silk blouse and sandals. This is your gentle reminder not to save your best clothes for only special days. Instead make each day special by wearing your best…within reason, of course. I love mixing a silk blouse with more casual pants. Oh, and those pants are 30% off right now with code ADDTOBAG. And J.Crew credit cardholders get an extra 20% off with code CARDLOVE.
Outfit for Saturday Morning Bible Study
James and a friend began a monthly Bible study in a nearby Panera a while back. This past Saturday I was still fairly cool, so it seemed like a good day to wear a favorite Frank & Eileen Liberty of London cotton shirt with jeans and sandals.

I debated about tucking the shirt or leaving it out for a casual vibe. But in the end I decided to tuck and belt because the proportions looked a little wonky otherwise. This outfit formula is one I return to frequently, especially when the temperatures begin to cool just a bit. Later I’d swap in loafers or ballet flats for the sandals.
Linen Trousers for Church on Sunday
Sunday we carried breakfast for our church family, so it was a busy morning. Not only did I need to bake a breakfast casserole, but I also had to gather items for a photo shoot. You’ll probably recognize Sunday morning’s outfit from Tuesday’s blog post, in which I shared 3 Ways to Style Classic Linen Trousers.

It’s funny, when summer first begins I, like many of my readers, don’t care for the wrinkles in linen. But as the summer goes on they begin to feel like familiar friends. Somehow the wrinkles in this seasonal fabric just feel like they belong. I know some don’t feel that way at all, but that’s okay. I absolutely love wearing linen during the hot, humid months. I love the way this black and white outfit came together with the addition of cognac accessories. For more style details, see Tuesday’s blog post.
What I Wore to a Dentist Appointment
I think I described Monday in my email newsletter as one of those days when I just had to put one foot in front of the other. Yeah, that’s how much I dislike going to the dentist. I’ve found that when I wake up to a day I’ve dreaded I do best to put a little effort into my appearance. Looking your best helps you to feel your best, no matter what the day holds.

So I put on my flax colored linen pants with a favorite black tee and black accessories.

I assumed I would wear just the tee and linen pants, but it was still chilly outside. And I knew the dentist office would be cold, too. I ended up wearing the outfit with the gingham jacket all day. You may recognize this outfit from Wednesday’s YouTube video. If not, watch it. It’s a good one!
What I Wore to Shoot the Video Wednesday
Speaking of Wednesday’s video, here’s what I wore for the talking portion of the video. And then I kept these jeans and textured cardigan on while I edited it, too.

The slingback flats were gifted to me by A. Soliani, an Italian shoe brand. They are luxe and beautiful. I used their printable size guide for the best fit.
What I Wore Out to Dinner Wednesday
Wednesday I just worked from home and then we had dinner plans with neighbors. We went to a very casual diner, but I knew our friends would be coming straight from work so I wanted to look a little polished still.

I’d honestly forgotten that I’d already worn these drawstring cotton pants just last Friday. But that really doesn’t bother me anyhow. I like to keep my wardrobe small and then wear the pieces frequently in different ways.
Work From Home Outfit for Thursday
Thursday after my workout, I spent most of the day planning out my content calendar for the month. I wanted to wear something easy and comfortable, but I always like to look pulled together. So I opted for a couple of Eileen Fisher coordinates.

This sleeveless linen vest and linen pants are cool and comfortable, but also feel a little polished without much effort. I love that kind of summer outfit. I added simple jewelry and flesh toned sandals. Oh, by the way, my jumbo diamond huggies are new, courtesy of Ring Concierge. They have some beautiful pieces worth checking out if you love fine jewelry at a reasonable price.
Thanks so much for dropping in. I hope you have a great Friday!

Blessed for My Day
Do you ever wonder if God likes you? The late Dr. Charles Stanley posed that question in my Bible reading earlier this week and the scripture below reminded me of his devotional. We may know (at least mentally) that God loves us because we’ve memorized John 3:16 or we sang about His love as children. But as life knocks us about a bit and we make one bad choice after another, we may wonder if a Holy God could possibly really like us.
God certainly does not always like our ways. In fact, He is opposed to our pride, our rebellion and our disobedience. But the Bible does teach that He takes pleasure in His children. So yes, God enjoys you. He delights in the times when you draw close to Him and share your heart. He takes joy in your joy. He is tender toward you when you lose and grieve. And He seeks out your company and chooses graciously to bless you generously. Rest assured that the God who created you just as you are, loves you…and likes you.
For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation. ~ Psalm 149:4
Hi Kay,
Do you have a “rule of thumb” you use in deciding when you will be wearing shorts? I run on the hot side but often feel they may be too casual for errands, appointments and such. I would love to hear your thoughts.
As always, I enjoy your blog!
I love seeing what you wear for the week. You have such great style & I get so many outfit ideas.
I had to laugh at myself as I looked at your silk blouse outfit and how you had worn it to pick up peaches. I thought “Huh! a $300 blouse at a farmer’s market”. And the very next line was you admonishing us to wear our “nice” pieces anytime and not save them for “special”. Good call, thank you for the reminder. In fact, I used to admonish my Mom in much the same way. And….your blouse is beautiful!
Hahaha! I would think that too if it was a farmer’s market. 😂 But you just drive into a church parking lot and go to a table to pick up a box of delicious fresh peaches. 🍑
Great collection of chic outfits! Especially love that blush colored top on you (from your YT video). I also got a giggle about you wearing a silk blouse to go get peaches. You aren’t kidding when you say make each day special by wearing your best clothes regularly! You practice what you preach. 🙂
I hope your eye appointment was uneventful and allayed your worries! Beautiful choices every day this week and I am continuing to enjoy my wrinkly linen – have it on right now, in fact. The BFMD reminded me of Mr. Rogers saying he “likes us just the way we are,” and how surprised I was to read that he once asked his wife if she thought he was “one of the goats or one of the sheep” when it came to what God would think of him! If even wonderful Mr. Rogers could worry about that, it shows how universal a feeling this is but knowing that “Christ died for us while we were still in our sins”, to paraphrase, should help ease our worries – he loves us more than we can imagine!
I have not had that surgery, but wish you the best. Whenever I need surgery, I want it done ASAP so I can be on the road to recovery rather than the road to getting worse. Congratulations on finding it before it was too late.
