How I Really Dressed for My Day This Week

Happy Friday! I know it’s not officially summer, but it’s feeling like it to me. The lively chatter from the kids in my neighborhood reminds me that school is out. From my office window I can see my neighbors splashing around in their swimming pool. And Wednesday I left the movie theater and headed straight to the frozen yogurt shop for a cool refreshment. So yeah. It’s summer. Let me show you how I really dressed for my day this week in summer outfits.

How I Really Dressed for My Day 5/29/26 - 6/04/2026

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.

What I Wore Last Friday

Last Friday I worked from home and only got out to run a quick errand. But I still wanted to wear this linen skirt and shirt from Quince. It’s been hanging in my closet calling my name since last summer!

sandals // skirt c/o // top c/o // compass coin necklace c/o // pearl necklace c/o // sunglasses // earrings c/o

I think the sun is making the fabric look a little shiny. But in real life this duo is a beautiful 100% European linen skirt and button-up boxy shirt. I like to accessorize summer all-black outfits with cognac accessories, so I wore my sienna brown day crossover sandals to complete the look.

How I Dressed for Saturday with Dinner Out

Saturday I worked around home, doing laundry and tidying up from the week. I was thrilled when James suggested we drive a little ways to a favorite diner for dinner. I was already wearing my Frank & Eileen Tuscany getaway set, but I added a few accessories before leaving for dinner.

They no longer have my linen set in this icy blue. But it does come in a few neutrals and a new turquoise and a pretty, vibrant hot sauce red. Again I accessorized with cognac sandals. And I carried my Veronica Beard bag since my things were already in it and the colors seemed to work. For fun I wore two beaded necklaces in a similar color of blue. I’m seeing these beaded baubles doubled up a lot lately.

What I Wore to Church Sunday

Sunday morning I taught the children’s Sunday school class, so I decided to keep my outfit casual. I also wanted to photograph the outfits for yesterday’s blog post, so I started the morning off in my new Paige Anessa jeans in vintage seaglass.

I love the combination of the sea glass green with the chambray pintuck top. When I realized my Spartina449 bag had those same colors, I decided it was a good day to use this sweet shoulder bag. It’s from last year and no longer available. But they do have some similar options that are very pretty. Oh, and my Dolce Vita sandals and Noonday earrings, both with beads in similar shades of green, seemed like more obvious choices. I’ll admit, when I looked in the mirror I worried a little about being over-accessorized. But I think it works, especially when you consider that the shoulder bag wasn’t attached to my body, lol. I guess I’m usually more prone to under-accessorize than I am to over do it. So this felt like a bold step for me.

What I Wore for a While Monday

Monday morning we headed out for a photo shoot about 7:30, and then we returned home for a staff meeting and a video shoot. So I really wasn’t in this one outfit for the whole day. But of everything I wore that day – and it was a lot – I felt like this was the OOTD.

It’s occurred to me that I wore linen from all of my favorite sources this week. Above you saw linen garments from Quince and Frank & Eileen. And in this outfit I’m wearing J.Jill linen pants, which I absolutely love. On Wednesday (coming up) I wore J.Crew linen and Thursday it was Eileen Fisher. Anyhow, I just noticed that the linen pants I wore here also come in true navy and vintage olive, both beautiful options. I wear my true to size medium in these.

How I Dressed for My Day Tuesday

Tuesday was just another work from home day. I’ve been meeting with my new assistant Sophie via Google Meets video conferencing for anywhere from two to three hours each day. And then I spent the rest of Tuesday editing this week’s YouTube video.

same dress in this year’s print // sandals // similar bracelet // necklace // earrings

Again, this J.McLaughlin dress is one I thoroughly enjoyed wearing last summer, and I just couldn’t wait another day to wear it this year. Their Catalina fabric is just so silky soft and cool. And since it doesn’t wrinkle with wear, it was the perfect option for a day at my desk. They don’t have this same graphic this year, but the dress does come in three other equally pretty colors and prints. It runs true to size; I wear a medium.

I added some of my Julie Vos jewelry to that look, too. When I went to link it in the captions above, I noticed they had restocked my necklace, which I purchased several years ago and get inquiries about frequently. I love this little necklace, especially for summer. And, while that necklace is not included, Julie Vos is having a Sample Sale right now with pretty amazing savings. I ordered these earrings yesterday for a good price.

What I Wore to the Movie Wednesday

Wednesday I worked in the morning and most of the afternoon, but then I treated myself to a movie at the theater. I saw the Devil Wears Prada 2, and it was a fun watch. It was warming up outside, but I knew it could be cold in the theater.

pants // jacket out of stock (beautiful similar option) // shirt out of stock // necklace c/o // sunglasses c/o // bag // sandals

So I put on a favorite combination I return to over and over: my black linen Soleil pants from J.Crew with a favorite graphic tee and gingham print jacket that are no longer available. But check out this jacket! Or you could get it at Nordstrom in their Bonus Notes event for Nordy members. I added cognac sandals and my new T-bar necklace from Tilly Sveaas. I was delightfully surprised to see Anne Hathaway’s character wearing a similar necklace throughout the movie. But hers cost over $14,000! Honestly, my necklace is every bit as chic and I absolutely love the quality.

My Thursday WFH Outfit

And that brings us to Thursday. I had gotten in this new pairing from Eileen Fisher the day before and just couldn’t wait to wear it. I’m really leaning in to skirts these days. Would you like for me to do a YouTube video about skirts? I know they can be tricky to style, and I do think I’ve finally learned a few of those tricks.

What I Wore Thursday
skirt (sized down to small) // shirt (TTS medium) // sandals // T-bar necklace c/o // diamond necklace // diamond earrings c/o

This voile skirt works because, even though it has an elasticized waistband, it isn’t too full. Know what I mean? Some of them are just too poofy for me, accentuating my hips all the more. But this one, especially worn with a slim fitting ribbed tee (TTS), looks more slenderizing. It was a joy to wear. I accented it with my T-bar necklace stacked with my graduated single prong diamond necklace.

Thank you so much for stopping in. How was your week style-wise? Did you wear clothes you enjoy and feel fabulous in? You know, there’s no reason to save your dresses, skirts and favorite trousers for “some day.” Wear them and enjoy them! Tell me about your favorite outfit of the week in the comments below.

Blessed for My Day

It can be easy to grow discouraged or even alarmed as we look around the world – whether we see political posts as we scroll social media or we notice poverty, crime and destruction as we drive down the road. Sometimes it feels like the world is out of control and our future feels dismal.

But the truth is that the world is still under the Creator’s control. Yes, He has given the devil a little time to “do his thing” on this broken earth. But our Sovereign Lord has not really relinquished anything to him. You can trust that God is on His throne, completely in charge. And this world and all its inhabitants are under His dominion. Hopefully that gives you comfort and courage.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. ~ 1 Chronicles 29:11
