Whether you feel like summer is already here or you’re waiting for the official start date of June 21st, I think we can all agree it’s time for a little summer style inspiration. Many of the spring trends continue to feel fresh and fun as we move towards warmer days. But we will see micro-trends that feel particularly “ripe” for this new season. Today I’m sharing two outfits with six summer 2026 fashion trends you’re going to love wearing in the months to come.

Summer 2026 Fashion Trend #1: Colored Denim Jeans

When I first started blogging here at Dressed for My Day in the spring of 2018, colored denim was hot, hot, hot. I remember having jeans in red, seafoam green, pink, olive green and turquoise, to name a few. In fact, just for fun, here’s a photo from a 2018 blog post where I shared tips for styling colored jeans for the fall. LOL!

See the original post for fun if you’d like.

I think it’s fun to look back at how we dressed just 8 short years ago because that’s when you really notice how much things change. Several elements in the outfit above are just terribly dated now. Can you spot them? I bet you can.

But guess what. Colored jeans have returned! You won’t catch me wearing bold red skinny jeans this time around, however. Instead, the colored jeans that are on trend for 2026 are more relaxed, often wide in the leg and generally more muted in color.

These vintage seaglass high waist, wide leg jeans from Paige are a prime example of the colored denim trend you can expect to see more of. Yes, I predict we’ll see a rise in colored denim through the rest of the year. This 31″ inseam Anessa has a modern, relaxed fit that feels fresh and current for summer, but you could easily wear them into the fall, too.

That trim along the pocket, shown above, is another trend I’d like to point out. Indeed we are seeing fun details like trim, embroidery, ruffles, decals and more on jeans this season. The vintage seaglass Paige Anessa and the vintage canewood Paige Arellia jeans you’ll see below are both beautiful examples of the colored denim trend, but they’re also premium denim at a premium price. They do fit and feel amazing, and I highly recommend them if you’re a serious jean-lover. But I’ve collected SO MANY other options in a shopping widget at the bottom of the post, including jeans at a lower price point.

SIZING: I sized up to a 31 in both pairs of jeans shown. They are a generous fit, but they are supposed to fit more relaxed than we’ve been wearing them. However, if you’d like for them to fit more snugly, I’d go with your true size.

Summer 2026 Fashion Trend #2: Untucked Shirts & Tops

In the last year or two we have definitely taken a turn towards “getting dressed” more intentionally. Pulling your outfit together by tucking in your shirt and adding a belt continues to look modern. But obviously there are still times when you do not want to look quite so buttoned up, and you still want to look like you’ve put a little effort into your appearance.

The fashionable solution is the untucked shirt…that is meant to be untucked. Look for lightweight shirts with pintucks and princess seams that fit and flatter the body, but leave the shirt looking and feeling cool as a summer breeze. The pintuck chambray shirt I’m wearing here fits true to size and works beautifully untucked or tucked in. The other feminine details on the shirt make it an outfit completer, so you don’t need to add a lot of fuss and bother to style your summer look.

If you want to look polished and pulled together this summer, but you also enjoy the fresh, cool feel of an untucked shirt, let me recommend the pintuck chambray shirt above or the eyelet ruffle sleeve top you’ll see below. But I do have additional options in the shopping widget at the bottom of the post.

Summer 2026 Fashion Trend #3: Casual Sandals with Ornamentation

Really this trend is not so much new as it is seasonal. It feels like we generally see more playfulness and detailing in summer sandals than we do, say, autumn booties. Right? But don’t miss your opportunity to add a pair of these fun sandals to your wardrobe. They’re such as easy way to add interest to your outfit while keeping it fuss-free and uncomplicated.

The string of organic modern beads in varying nature-inspired hues on the sandals I’m wearing does not irritate my foot at all. In fact, they feel soft, cool and comfortable against my foot. For more shoe ideas for summer, watch this recent YouTube video.

Summer 2026 Fashion Trend #4: Casual Little Heels with Jeans

I’ve read half a dozen articles lately about this very specific footwear trend. Indeed, “they” are saying that “all the cool girls” are wearing their jeans this summer with casual but heeled thong sandals. Who knew!?

The Paige Arellia skimmer barrel jeans I’m wearing above are the perfect length and silhouette for pairing with the natural raffia heels with seasonal statement beads. The elevated flip flops bring a little effortless glam to your everyday looks, blending laid-back beach vibes with luxe details. What do you think? Is this a trend you’ll take for a spin?

Summer 2026 Fashion Trend #5: Feminine Details

Back to the shirts. Not only are we seeing a fresh batch of tops that can be worn beautifully untucked, but we’re also seeing more feminine details popping up on them. Look for pintucks, ruffles, embroidery, beading, lace, eyelet and other feminine touches that make the most basic shirts look fresh and a little flirty.

The secret to wearing this feminine trend is to combine shirts like the Blaire top above with other items that are more basic or even a little rugged, such as my vintage canewood Arellia jeans. The top fits true to size. I did size up in the jeans to a 31, as I usually do with Paige jeans, for a relaxed, easy fit. If you prefer a more snug fit, I’d go with your usual size.

Summer 2026 Fashion Trend #6: Big Summer Beads

This summer we’re seeing the return of another trend that may look familiar: the big summer beads. Whether they’re resin or “wood” or semi-precious stones, you’ll see lots of chunky beaded necklaces, earrings and bracelets this summer.

Above I’m wearing the Kindred Hoops from Noonday. They’re handcrafted with paper beads and warm metallic accents for a lightweight, textured look. You can use code KAY10 for 10% off at Noonday. And below I’m wearing the Jane beaded necklace. Crafted with multicolored semi-precious and glossy resin beads in tiger’s eye, obsidian, and smokey quartz, this bold necklace makes an immediate impact. I suggest letting it be the focal point of your outfit and keeping other jewelry more minimal, like the subtle but on trend cloud earrings I’m wearing.

So what do you think about these six summer 2026 fashion trends? Remember, none of us needs to adopt all of the trends we see. But keeping your looks current by skillfully and wisely integrating a few modern trends into your personal style aesthetic can make you look more up-to-date and stylish. I’d love to hear which ones of these or others you’re wearing this summer.

Blessed for My Day

When a misunderstanding turns into a disagreement, it can be hard to keep our cool. Feeling misunderstood often compels me to try to explain myself further, to repeat myself more loudly and speak my piece more forcefully. Can you relate? But the Bible warns us that a harsh tone and hard words only stir the pot to overflowing. They don’t cool the situation down or bring it to a simmer.

Instead, I’m trying these days to listen a little longer and take a few breaths before I continue in a testy conversation. When the temperature starts to rise in the dialog, I remind myself that the point is not to win, but to communicate. That helps me to seek the best for the other person, not just myself. And if I can keep my tone gentle and gracious, I know I’ll keep the doors of communication open wider so we both or all have a little breathing room.

A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. ~ Proverbs 15:1
