How I Really Dressed for My Day This Week

Happy Friday! It’s time again for a quick run down of the outfits I wore this week. My kids were here over the weekend, so we were doing some family things. Then Monday through Thursday have been busy work days. Of course it’s been hot, too. So my outfits reflect all these things. Let’s see what I wore!

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask.

What I Wore Friday to the Movies and Dinner

Friday James and I along with Abby and Andrew went to a matinee movie. Then we went to a favorite Mexican food truck for dinner. Yes, we ate outside a gas station. Ha! Anyhow I wore my flax colored linen pants and a sweater tank with these very comfortable slides. I carried a soft pink linen wrap (something like this) to the movie theater to put over my shoulders.

Yeah, I could have worn more flesh toned sandals, but I just felt like wearing these cognac brown ones that day. They’re so comfortable I couldn’t resist.

How I Dressed Sunday for Church

I don’t have a photo for Saturday. I was too busy spending time with my kids. They were all four here for just a few hours. Then the first set left (after spending the past five days with us) and the other set settled in for board games with us. We had the best time!

Anyhow, Sunday I wore my black silk skirt to church. I topped it with a simple tank top and my beige lightweight linen and cotton cardigan.

I just can’t stop wearing these gold leather sandals from Naot. They’re so comfortable and I think they’re really pretty, too. I wear a half size so I went with the next higher whole size.

How I Dressed Sunday Afternoon

Sunday after lunch we settled in for more board games, so I changed into my comfy black jersey knit lantern pants and an old linen sweater.

Again, all about comfort, I wore my beige cloth sandals.

What I Wore Monday Morning

Hahaha! I look a little tired in this Monday morning photo. Well, it was all good. Daniel and Stephanie left for home Sunday evening and our hearts were full. I think this first photo was taken before we starting taping videos Monday morning. I had to shoot a lot in the bathroom for this blog post and next week’s video, so I wore this linen dress while we prepped for the videos.

I obviously didn’t steam the dress before putting it on that day. I knew I was just wearing it for a little while and I wasn’t going anywhere. Most of the middle of the day was spent in things I was wearing for the upcoming videos.

What I Wore Monday Afternoon

Then after we’d finished shooting I switched into a different dress. Ha! Who knows why? Maybe I couldn’t even find the other one. Hahaha! Or maybe I just felt like wearing this shorter gauze dress. This time I wore my soft Born sandals. They’re several years old now, but I noticed they’re still available.

Again, I didn’t go anywhere. But the dress felt comfortable for the rest of my work day. I still had to turn out two blog posts that day after we’d finish the video shoot. By the way, that gauze dress is on sale plus another 40% off and the other full price colors are 30% off today. Love this dress! In fact, all J.Jill dresses are either marked down and an extra 40% off or 30% off full price.

What I Wore Tuesday

Tuesday I think I just worked from home. Actually, starting Tuesday, I kept getting dressed to go out and run errands but never managed to do so until Thursday. So I wore my cotton and hemp lantern pants with that white tank and my white linen short sleeve shirt.

I love this combo. I’d wear it every day if I could. These pants are on sale and available at several places, but in limited sizes. I’m wearing a medium for a very roomy fit. I finished the outfit with my gold Tory Burch sandals, also on sale.

How I Dressed Wednesday

Again Wednesday I dressed to go out. But things kept popping up at work and by the time I finished tying up all the loose ends around three in the afternoon, it was too late to do what I had wanted to accomplish. So I just stayed home. But I still enjoyed wearing my cobblestone brown linen pants with a beige tank and coordinating beige linen cardigan (from last year).

I liked the way my brown Naot sandals worked with these cobblestone pants, creating really pretty proportions in this outfit. I also like all the textures I’ve combined here.

What I Wore Thursday for Meetings & Errands

Finally Thursday I managed to get out to run my errands. Ha! But first I had several video call meetings to knock out. I managed to get a late lunch and then make my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale returns and get to a few stores to scout out new arrivals. I was so glad I wore my black wide leg linen blend pants because they went so well with everything I tried on at Talbots. I wear a very comfortable size 30 in those pants, but if you’re in between sizes, you might want to go with your lower size. They have lots of stretch.

White Graphic Tee (size medium) // Black Pants (size 30) // similar Belt // Sandals

I enjoyed topping the pants with my graphic tee. And since I wanted to wear my comfortable cognac sandals, I completed the look with a similar colored leather belt. I got compliments everywhere I went. Fun!

So that’s what I wore this week. Thanks so much for dropping in.

Blessed for My Day

Following the Lord really is a daily choice. Yes, it’s a once in a lifetime commitment, but it must be lived out intentionally every single day. The flesh pulls us down, the world pulls us in every direction, our emotions pull us sideways and our fears pull us back. So we must determine each day to walk with the Lord by faith.

I’ve found that the best way for me to walk out my faith daily and consistently is to begin each day with God in reading His Word and prayer. For many years that was a hard thing to do as I was raising kids and busy with all those demands. And even now I could easily jump right into the tasks of the day. But I’ve made it a pattern in my life to begin with the Bible and prayer. And at this point it is honestly my favorite part of the day. I encourage you to continue on if you have also made a daily quiet time your pattern. But if you haven’t done that, why not try it? This simple practice will set you on the right path as you begin each day.

I have chosen the faithful way; I have placed Your judgments before me. ~ Psalm 119:30

xoxo, Kay
