Happy Friday! All in all, it’s been a beautiful spring week here. I do hope you’re getting to enjoy some pleasant weather and beautiful blooms, too. Those conditions certainly make it a little more compelling and easier to get dressed for our day. Wouldn’t you agree? Let’s check out what I wore as I share how I really dressed for my day this week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
What I Wore Last Friday
Last Friday I got out to run some errands, which almost always means I made returns and picked up a few things for upcoming videos or photo shoots. But on this particular errand day I did also get my hair cut. This was our last full day to have Cooper, our kids’ dog, so I included him in my OOTD.

The weather was starting to perk up, so I wanted to wear a little color. But I was also feeling the need to be comfortable and casual. So I topped a favorite pair of jeans with a lilac “summer blouse” in cotton cheesecloth from Me+Em…last year. This particular color is no longer available, but they have equally pretty options this year. With this outfit I was able to get in a lot of steps at the mall between appointments.
How I Dressed for My Day Saturday
Saturday our son and daughter-in-law arrived mid-morning to pick up Cooper. We had kept him for two weeks while they were touring Japan. They had a great trip, but were glad to see their furry friend again. And he was definitely happy to have them home. We visited all day and went to a look restaurant for a yummy lunch.

With the temperatures so warm, I thought this would be a good day to break in my newest Frank & Eileen getaway set. These linen pieces fit true to size and I’m wearing the Eileen shirt and the Maisie wide leg pull-on pants in a beautiful French blue. I completed the look with cognac sandals and my cognac leather and straw bucket bag. But as we were returning home from lunch, the wind picked up and a cold front started blowing in. My day in linen was short-lived. LOL.
What I Wore Easter Sunday
Easter dawned quite cool and overcast. But there was no rain and the blooms on the trees made the day look festive and glorious. We had our church service and then James and I went out to brunch at a Brazilian steakhouse. I’ll have a better photo of this outfit next Monday when I’m sharing it and several other J.McLaughlin pieces in the blog post.

I felt warm enough for the chill, but also appropriately dressed for Resurrection Sunday in my white linen pants, seafoam sweater tank and jacquard coat. The coat was quite the investment, but I know I’ll have it in my wardrobe for years, and I’ve long wanted an elegant spring coat like this to wear for special occasions. I finished the outfit with my new M.Gemi slingback kitten heels. They are super comfortable and so chic. You can use code KAY15 for 15% off. Or better yet, right now they are offering 25% off sitewide with code OURTREAT (ends 4/15). My code doesn’t stack on that, but that’s a great deal on these Italian made leather shoes. And then I carried my new Frances Valentine wicker bag. I just love wicker bags. Swoon.
How I Dressed for My Day Monday
Monday we shot this week’s YouTube video, so I spent most of the day prepping for that. Then of course I was in and out of the outfits I modeled for the video. And when I ended up in this lovely linen wrap dress I just stayed in it until dinner time.

I’ve always loved a wrap dress. And this one didn’t disappoint. It fits true to size and is so comfortable with its cotton lining. Check out this week’s video for more details.
What I Wore Tuesday
Tuesday I just worked from home. I do remember that I got bogged down with technical issues early in the day and I wasn’t able to start editing my video until late in the afternoon. But I got dressed for my day! Good thing I did. It always makes me feel a little smarter, and I needed all the help I could get that day.

My striped polo top is from last year, but I’ve noticed that they have it again this spring at Saks. It’s a favorite, so I’m glad I kept it in my closet for this year. It fit true to size and I appreciate the slightly cropped length so I don’t have to tuck it in. It’s black and ivory, by the way. I do wish they made a navy one.
What I Wore Wednesday
Wednesday it was a little on the cool side still, but starting to warm up. I’d gotten in this V-neck cardigan and decided to take it to England in May, so I thought I should give it a whirl. A few of you commented in my London/Cotswolds packing post that you’d seen Jo-Lynne Shane’s packing list for a similar trip last May. That’s actually where I got the idea to purchase this sweater. She wore it in black and said it was the hero of her travel capsule. I can see why.

I kept the look simple for another work-from-home outfit. In fact, I just noticed that I actually wore these jeans two days in a row. Ha! I’m just not above that. I don’t mind repeating at all…but I usually wait a day or two. LOL! I did size down to a 29 in those jeans, by the way.
How I Dressed for a Day Out on Thursday
Thursday I worked from home in the morning, but I managed to get out of the house by mid afternoon. I had to make several returns and I did end up purchasing a few new things, too. By the way, when I say I return things, they are not things I’ve worn. But I try to take advantage of returning ill-fitting items that I’ve ordered at the brick and mortar stores. And I often end up purchasing new items while I’m there.

Not much I’m wearing here is available. These are favorites from last spring and summer. I absolutely loved wearing this Veronica Beard lightweight blazer last year, and it was so fun to put it on again. When I was in Nordstrom yesterday, I did notice that this jacket is very similar and oh my, I had to walk away! It’s lightweight and has matching pants. Swoon worthy! Come to think of it, they are offering 10x Nordy points for Icon and Ambassador level Nordy Club members…
Alright! Thanks so much for stopping in. I do hope you have had a nice week. It was a mixed bag for us, but all in all I can’t complain. God is good and He’s certainly been good to me. Thank you for being here, dear friend. Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day
Life takes courage. Wouldn’t you say? Some days…even seasons of our lives…are smooth sailing. But we all know the storms eventually come. And when they do we have to brave them and weather them well.
But that’s almost impossible without a knowledge of the Lord and His provision. If we will meditate on His Word during our good days and especially during the harder ones, we will be fortified with the wisdom we need to navigate those stormy seas and the courage we’ll need not to bail. Maybe today would be a good day to write a meaningful Scripture verse on an index card and begin to meditate on it. If you can memorize it, all the better.
Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ~ Joshua 1:6-9
Hello Kay. I enjoyed this blog and yesterday’s; thank you. Here in SW London we have had a very mixed bag of weather. Wednesday it was 79F/26C which was the hottest April day since 1949. Yesterday it cooled to 68/20 which was perfect for gardening. Today it will be 55/13 which is ‘below average for the time of year’! Cooper looks very handsome. Have a good weekend and thanks also for BFMD.
Good morning Kay, I always enjoy reading your blogs, thank you! Your grand dog Cooper is so handsome, your best accessory! Your spring sweater coat is beautiful, love all the animals on it. Thanks again.
YAY! You’re wearing the yellow/blue VB blazer again! That’s one of my favorites on you. 🙂 Anyhow, love the inspiration and I bookmarked the JML seafoam sweater tank, that’s a potential purchase for me. I just had to throw out a similar top that I had for years, because it pilled and overstretched badly. I love sweater tanks and short sleeve sweaters, they are great options for me for work.
Love your Easter outfit!
Your Easter outfit was absolutely stunning. The coat looked beautiful on you, and everything you chose to go with it – lovely! The jewelry you chose complemented so well.
