Happy Friday! I checked out the weather forecast for the next 10 days and it looks like we have 50s and even 60s to look forward to every day. Yippee! But this past week was mostly cold. So today I’m sharing the cold weather outfits I wore as I got dressed for my day this week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
What I Wore to a Matinee Friday
Last Friday my husband was still down with bronchitis, but I desperately needed to get out of the house. Since we work from home, it’s hard to take a real day off from work without escaping for at least a few hours. So I bundled up, shoveled the snow on our sloping driveway and headed to a matinee movie.

I wanted to look a little polished and pulled together, but I did have to shovel snow. So I layered on a long sleeve tee with my quarter zip sweater (marked down + get an extra 20% off with code EXTRA20). I wore my waterproof boots so I could navigate the icy parking lot at the theater.
How I Dressed to Run Errands Saturday
Saturday I wanted to cook a good dinner for James. So I headed to the grocery store and ran a few other errands, too.

I wore a simple Saturday uniform of sweater and favorite jeans, but I did add another one of those long sleeve tees from Sold Out NYC. Again I wore sneakers to help me navigate the slushy parking lot with more ease.
How I Dressed to Keep Up on Sunday
Sunday we missed church for the second week due to James’ illness. That’s actually the third week I’ve been out of church since my parents’ service was cancelled the weekend I visited them. Besides the fact that I truly miss weekly worship, it really throws my week off terribly when I don’t go to church. So I decided to go ahead and put in a little effort to get dressed for the day.

I think I caught up on a little work, read a little and cooked. But I do think it set my week on a better trajectory to put on a pair of trouser jeans and a lovely silk blouse (also here). This pretty blouse is definitely pricey, but I’m so glad to have it in my closet. It does come in other equally beautiful colors.
What I Wore to Record a Video
Monday I had quite a bit of work to do. I ended up recording a video that afternoon and wore this outfit for the speaking part.

This soft pink, cashmere, v-neck cardigan sweater will serve me well through the spring. It comes in other colors, too. I’d just received the Ayr jeans and couldn’t wait to wear them or to show them to you. I featured them in Wednesday’s video – such a classic. Alas, I ended up trashing the video I shot that afternoon and we reshot on Tuesday.
What I Wore to Shoot this Week’s Video
We had already planned to shoot the modeling portion of Wednesday’s video Tuesday morning. I hate to say this, but it’s getting harder on me physically to shoot videos. Taking outfits off and on and modeling them and then pulling my act together to talk through the video…that’s wearing me out faster than it used to. Whereas we used to sometimes shoot three full videos in one day, we’re not sometimes splitting one video into two days of shooting.

Anyhow, I ended up reshooting the talking portion in this week’s video and then modeling, too, on Tuesday. Then I spent the rest of the day at my desk editing the video. I was comfortable and up to the task in my Citizens of Humanity Kayla button-up shirt and Paige Anessa cropped jeans. But I must admit, the minute I walked out of my office that evening, the chill in the rest of the house made my ankles feel quite cold. It’s definitely not spring yet!
What I Wore for Appointments Friday
I didn’t put on anything interesting Thursday, just activewear I wore to take a walk. But Friday I had three appointments, so I decided to get a little more dressed up for my day. I wore my trusty Spanx corduroy pants with a faithful cashmere turtleneck. I wore a plaid scarf coated gifted from Veronica Beard over it. But really the photo below, taken in a fitting room mirror, is really a lesson in how not to get dressed for your day. Ha!

I was in such a rush that morning as I dressed for an early dental appointment that I forgot to put on a belt, even though I had originally tucked in my sweater. I also only had time to grab earrings, no necklace. Fortunately I wore my plaid coat most of the day, so the outfit still looked fairly complete.
By the way, I want to call out two sales here worth checking out. My coat is not longer available, but Veronica Beard is offering an extra 25% off sale items this weekend. So it’s definitely worth a moment to look through their markdowns. Use code WEEKEND2026 to get the extra 25% off.
And not only are my favorite black cords marked down significantly at Spanx, but they’re also having a buy more, save more event on full-price items. Save 15% on a purchase of $150+, 20% on $200+ and an amazing 25% on $250+. I can highly recommend this racerback bra (you’ll need it for spring and summer!), these skirt shorts and this shapewear for when you need a little more compression. But don’t forget they have great streetwear, too, including their AirEssentials and SuperSmooth ponte collection.
Finally, I forgot to mention in my newsletter today that J.McLaughlin is offering 30% off select styles just through this weekend. My favorite Fair Isle sweater is included, as are my suede loafers. But they also have spring styles like this pretty dress and this 3/4 sleeve top.

Blessed for My Day
As believers and Christ-followers we are called to love each other, other outside of the faith, even our enemies. Why? Because God is love. It is our Father’s nature to love, so we are called to demonstrate that love to the world.
But let’s be careful not to confuse love with another compelling force: empathy. Yes, we are encouraged in God’s Word to show compassion to people who are struggling. Indeed, God is compassionate and He helps us to show kindness to others as they carry hard burdens. But empathy and love are not the same thing. Love, in fact, trumps empathy. Love rejoices with truth, so it sometimes requires us to do hard things, to make unpopular choices, to go the extra mile. Empathy says, “I see what you are going through and I ache for you.” But love adds, “I know this is hard, but I will help you do the right thing because in the end the truth will set you free.”
Jesus felt compassion for the crowds around Him in Matthew 14:14 and 15:32, compelling Him to meet their physical needs. But He didn’t solve all of their problems. And the greatest gift He offered – eternal life – could only be received through repentance and confession in His lordship. So He didn’t, out of empathy, offer easy fixes. Empathy motivated Jesus to do what He could in the moment; love compelled Him to reach out with grace and truth to change lives forever.
Let’s consider how we can do both as well. Out of empathy we can meet immediate needs to the best of our ability. But out of love we can share the grace and truth of the gospel so that people can live eternally with the Lord.
{Love} does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth ~ 1 Corinthians 13:6
Kay…. I know you’ll know when it’s time to cut back but when the videos get too hard to prepare weekly you can give yourself grace to cut back and maybe do monthly???? I love your videos and seeing them weekly, but you want to continue feeling good each week. Love seeing what you really wear for your week. Love the silk blouse and denim outfits. So classic and you look great in trouser jeans.
Ahh, thanks for your kindness. But generally I just need to plan better. I didn’t really mean to complain or infer that it’s wearing me out. I just meant that trying clothes on for hours is not as easy as it used to be 😜.
I agree with Kathy. It doesn’t pay for any of us to stretch ourselves too thin.
Thanks so much for your concern. Work life balance is always a little tricky in this job. But really I just need to plan ahead better. 😊
Just love that green silk blouse on you! Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
Yes I agree the green silk blouse is stunning on you.
Thank you. 😊
I hope your husband is getting over his illness. Enjoy seeing what you wore. I like the leopard shoes with the crop jeans.
Yes, he is well now. Thank you. 😊
