How I Really Dressed for My Day This Week

It’s time for me to share my outfits of the week. I’m a little embarrassed to tell you that I goofed up and forgot to take photos of Friday and Saturday’s outfits. I’ll explain below. But I did indeed get dressed for my day every day this week. Like you, I imagine, I’m often tempted to just stay in my pajamas or workout clothes or sweats some days, especially in the winter. But I find I’m so much more productive if I make the effort.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask.

All available items are linked in the captions of the photos. Even if they don’t look like links (sometimes they don’t highlight for some reason), they generally are. So just click through if you’re interested.

Sunday

Unfortunately I took videos of Friday and Saturday’s outfits for my LTK shop and Instagram, but forgot to take photos. Oh boy! We’ve set up a new place for me to take my outfits of the day and I’m trying to make a point of doing the videos for Instagram and LTK, but in my fervor to get it done I forgot to take the photos on those days. I apologize and have been doing better since, but you can see Friday’s outfit and Saturday’s outfit in my LTK shop. And I really do recommend downloading the LTK shopping app on your phone or handheld device, too. It’s a great way to keep up with and even shop my daily outfits.

white tee // cardigan // black denim (similar) (similar) // sneakers // necklace // earrings // bracelet

Anyhoo! On Sunday we hosted our house church at our home. It was cold and dreary. I wore my black Joe’s Jeans wide leg jeans from last year (similar and similar) with a favorite white ribbed tee and cardigan. I finished the look with my Nike sneakers. This outfit felt so comfortable and pulled together all day. It actually lifted my spirits on that rainy day.

Monday

Monday we shot videos. And if you’ve seen this week’s video, you’ve already seen this outfit. I got in my new black Veronica Beard Miller dickey jacket and just couldn’t wait to wear it. Of the Veronica Beard blazers, the Miller is my favorite because this silhouette works perfectly with straight jeans and pants or fuller legs, too.

Veronica Beard blazer // striped tee // dark wash jeans no longer available similar option &option 2 // sneakers // earrings

I love wearing a blazer with jeans, a tee and sneakers. So on trend and fun.

Tuesday

Tuesday I spent the day editing Wednesday’s video, so it was purely a work from home day. Still, I generally make myself get dressed and pulled together on these days because I just feel better and work smarter when I’m dressed for my day.

white long sleeve tee // sweater (sold out) (similar option here) // jeans // boots // necklace // bracelet // earrings

I love the effect you get when you wear a simple, thin white t-shirt under a pullover sweater. What in the world is it about that combination that is so appealing? Somehow it just really completes the look in a modern, relaxed way. Maybe that’s what it is. I am realizing that I prefer a “relaxed” vibe. As I’m thinking about my personal style, that word keeps coming up. We’ll be talking more about that soon in our Define Your Style…Refine Your Wardrobe style series.

Wednesday

Wednesday was just a slightly warmer day than all the rest. I think we were in the low 50s at one point. So I decided to wear the ankle length jeans I’d gotten in last week because I could wear them with my new Veronica Beard sneakers (and here) and had no need for socks (other than my Sheec socks). If you watched this week’s video you’ll understand that reasoning. I often put my outfits together by starting with my footwear.

button up shirt (limited sizing available) // white tee// belt // jeans // sneakers (and here) // bracelet // earrings

Yes, those sneakers (and here) are ridiculously pricey. But I have to wear at least a small heel all the time due to my metatarsalgia. So when I saw that these modern sneakers had that, I ordered. And I was pretty blown away by the quality. They feel amazing on, like a soft hug. And you just slip them on. Bonus! They run true to size.

I guess I was into t-shirts this week. Ha! I think I’ve gotten a little tired of sweaters, so I’m leaning into other combinations. What about you? Thanks so much for stopping in today. I’m sorry I didn’t have more to show you due to my little mistakes on Friday and Saturday. But I’m getting my ducks in a row!

PS – What happened to Thursday? Ha! We had to get out and take photos yesterday because it’s going to be below freezing forevermore starting later today. So I just wore those outfits… You’ll see them soon!

Blessed for My Day

As I read the familiar story of Abraham’s trusted servant seeking out a wife for Isaac, I was struck at first by him immediate response to God’s amazing provision. The Scripture says he worshiped the Lord. Of course I was reminded that I need to pause and thank God for several prayers that He has answered recently. But first I wanted to write Genesis 24:26 in my journal.

But as I recorded the short verse, something else jumped off the page at me. The servant didn’t just worship the Lord; he bowed low to do so. I had thought I would do good to simply thank God for answering my prayers. But bowing low added a whole new dimension. That posture acknowledges my spiritual poverty and God’s abundance, my desperate need and God’s kindness, my humble state and God’s glory. So I got on my knees for the first time in I don’t know when and worshiped the Lord.

Then the man bowed low and worshiped the Lord. And he said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned His kindness and His trustworthiness toward my master; as for me, the Lord has guided me in the way to the house of my master’s brothers.” ~ Genesis 24:26-27

  1. BFMD is very good. Sometimes we ask for things and forget to thank Him for what He has all ready given us. We should get on our knees more often but Christians have forget how to do this. Me included. Bless you.

  2. I’m curious why you don’t link your outfits to Pinterest so that your readers could pin them. That’s one of the ways I put outfits together. Thanks!

    1. I am able to pin any of Kay’s photos to Pinterest with the little icon on the top left of the photo. I am using a laptop.

  3. I love the Miller jacket you are shown in & have been looking for something just like that but $695 is really steep. Is rhere something you know of that is similar but less expensive?

  4. Kay, I’m reading The One Year Bible NLT version and the reading for yesterday was the same story of the servant’s search for a wife for Isaac! I, too, was struck by the servant’s faithful service and his worship of the Lord. Another thing that struck me was that we’re not told his name. He had such an important tole in the search for Isaac’s wife but remains nameless. I know his name isn’t the most important part of God’s plan for Isaac and the establishment of the Jewish people and nation but I just would have liked to know. Curiosity! God bless you for all you do to help us dress and to bless our days!

  5. Hi Kay! I also need a lift in my sneakers so i’m thinking about the VB sneakers. I like the one with the gold which I believe is the one you’re wearing. They’re definitely pricey, but I do have some Nordstrom notes to make a splurge!

  6. Hi Kay, I have a question about the light colored suede like sneakers. Last year I bought the new balance sneakers from J crew and I love them but they have gotten very dinghy and dirty. Do you
have a secret on how to keep your sneakers clean? I’m tempted to throw the in the washing machine and see what happens!

    1. I’ve had luck cleaning white leather sneakers with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser with Dawn from Amazon. Suede…I have no idea how to clean. Hope that helps!

    2. I guess I don’t wear any of mine quite frequently enough to get dirty. I haven’t had a problem with them. I’d check online where you purchased them and see the care instructions for similar shoes and follow those. You very well may be able to wash in the machine, but o don’t know for sure.

  7. Hello Kay, Your BFMD today reminded me of a profound moment in my spiritual journey. Raised in the Presbyterian church, after marrying my Catholic husband, I decide to join his church so that we could worship together. I remember my surprise and awe seeing everyone, including the men in suits, kneeling in prayer and worship throughout the Catholic service. May I never forget the impression this made on my heart then and does to this day. Thank you, Kay, for sharing this today. I especially needed to be reminded.

  8. Hi Kay!

Is the striped tee you are wearing under the blazer black and white? Only saw blue ones on the AYR site.

Love your blog – and spiritual encouragement.

Stay warm – I’m right next door in Indianapolis – Brrrr!
