Activewear and athleisurewear aren’t what they used to be. We no longer refer to our activewear pants as sweats because we’re doing a lot more in them than just working up a sweat. And do you remember track suits? Or what about parachute suits? Hahaha! Yes, I had them all. But now we’re mixing and matching our activewear tops, pants and jackets like a boss and wearing them for everything from moving down the highway to running out for coffee, from flying overseas to walking around the neighborhood.

And while we move all over the place in the new activewear, we’re staying drier and more comfortable, especially with the made-to-move pieces from Athleta. Everything I’m showing from Athleta today is moisture-wicking, quick-drying, abrasion-resistant and exceptionally breathable. These clothes are made for movement.

My daughter Abigail has been wearing these Brooklyn mid rise ankle pant (TTS or size up for roomier fit) (c/o) for a while now and loves them, so I decided to get me some. They’re lightweight, so probably best for now and through early fall. But you can pull them out to wear again in the spring (or when you take that warm weather destination trip in the winter!). I opted for a size 12 here for a very roomy fit.

I do wear tops like this Athleta seamless tee (TTS) when I travel, but I also like these for working out and morning walks. The top has grippers on the interior of the hemline to keep it in place so it doesn’t ride up when you’re working out (bending over, jumping up and down, etc.). So these short sleeve seamless tees are perfect for the gym, as are the seamless tanks and seamless long sleeve tops.

I’m prone to put on my running shoes and take a walk around the neighborhood in the Brooklyn mid rise ankle pant and Momentum seamless tee. But these pieces do double duty for travel or a coffee, too. Especially when you add this on trend Endless bomber jacket (TTS) to the mix, you get a sporty and comfortable look that appropriate for much of real life.

I opted for the black Endless bomber jacket, but it also comes in navy. I decided I liked the way they styled the black jacket on the Athleta website with navy Endless high rise pants for a truly modern look. So I’ve duplicated that look here with the addition of a striped essential tee.

I couldn’t resist adding this clover berry red crossbody belt bag to my collection. I carried a similar green one (no longer available in that color) on my Alaska cruise and road trip and it was one of my favorite must-have items for that trip. I used this red crossbody belt bag last weekend both at a minor league baseball game and the farmers market, so it’s truly perfect for all the “going places” you can imagine. I can fit my keys, a few essential cards, lipstick, reading glasses or sunglasses (whichever aren’t on my face, ha!) and my phone inside. But if you’re afraid it would be too small for your essentials, check out the same bag in the large size.

If you followed my Alaska cruise and road trip you may remember that I wore my two pair of Athleta Endless cargo pants almost daily. In fact, I wished I’d had a third pair. Well I have them now, except this time I opted for the more streamlined silhouette of the plain Endless high rise pants. The cargo pants I wore in Alaska are both size 10 and fit nicely for a slim fit.
But when I purchased these new Endless high rise pants in the store recently they didn’t have a 10 in the navy I wanted, so I decided to try the 12. I kind of like the roomier fit of these, especially for travel. But they are very roomy, so maybe going with your true size is better.

I also carried a couple of these Athleta Essential tees on my Alaska trip and wore them a lot. So I already knew how silky soft and polished they are. I like the slightly cropped length. But I also just discovered that they come in a short sleeve v-neck and a 3/4 sleeve v-neck option, too.

By the way, most of Athleta’s clothing comes in regular, tall and petite options, and their sizes are inclusive, ranging from xxs to 3x. And don’t forget, now through September 3 most of the items I’ve shown are marked down 25%. And if you’re an Athleta Rewards member you’ll get an extra $50 off your purchase of $200+ with code MEMBER50. You’ll need to be signed into your account at Athleta to use that code.

Later this month we’re traveling to Dallas for LTK Con and to visit my husband’s family in west Texas. At the end of the month we’re road tripping to Wisconsin, where I’ll speak at a Christian women’s retreat. And in October we’re going to the Finger Lake region of New York for my husband to participate in a landscape photography workshop. And I can just about guarantee I’ll be traveling in or at least carrying along these separates from Athleta.

And I’ll be wearing my Athleta activewear to work out this fall, too. I recommend you check out all of the Athleta Fall essentials that are marked down 25%. So many of my favorites! Thanks for stopping in today. Have a great Labor Day!

Fear is a wicked motivator. Most of us are motivated by a variety of forces to do the things we do. Last week I mentioned how encouragement and kindness motivate me to do better, to push forward. Appreciation also motivates me to keep on doing whatever I may have done that elicited such praise. Consider some of the positive forces that motivate you to do well, to push through, to be better.
And then there’s fear. Fear doesn’t motivate us to push forward; it holds us back, sometimes even causing us to back up, shrink down, quiet down or disappear. Fear also motivates us in other strange and unseemly ways. Sometimes fear causes me to lash out in anger and frustration. It causes me to do things I really shouldn’t do because I feel out of control, helpless and afraid. That’s why it’s so important to heed the Bible’s admonitions to “fear not.” God knows that fear cripples and motivates us in the wrong direction. If you realize now that fear has been motivating you, why not pause right now and confess those fears to the Lord? Then profess your trust in Him and ask Him to help you live in the peace and joy only He gives and sustains.
The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me? ~ Psalm 118:6

Leg opening at the ankle, are the Endless or Brooklyns wider?
I would say they are about the same. The Endless is a thicker fabric and the Brooklyn is very lightweight and a mid rise. But the lengths of the pants and ankle opening are similar.
Just what I need to chase my 2 1/2 year old grandson around the park. Not as easy to do in blue jeans. Run, chase, crawl Grandma is the call I get every time we are together and I love it. I’m so grateful to God that I am able to. It’s my greatest joy and music to my ears when Wyatt says let’s go for a walk about or asks me to chase him. Now I will be comfortable doing it.
Yes, these Athleta essentials are perfect for grandma time for sure.
Do you find the Momentum Seamless Tee to still be breathable with the grippy band at the bottom? I was thinking of ordering it, but our hot humid days in the south make me wonder if I’ll be too warm in it since it won’t move around to let a breeze in the bottom of the shirt. The Essential Tee is cute but I prefer the shorter sleeve on the Momentum.
Definitely. At least for me. It’s still a very lightweight top. I’d size up for a looser fit and it should still flatter that way.
Loved today’s post.seeing the outfits on you is so helpful. Often when I see them on the models I feel I would look terrible in that style! Seeing the same item on you changes my opinion. Love the bomber jacket and slacks. I wouldn’t have considered either and now I will!
Wonderful. 🙌🏻 That’s always the goal. I’m glad this helped.
A note on sizing for rectantangle bodies: the Endless pants are a thicker fabric that don’t have much drape so they stick out weirdly at the hips. The Brooklyn pants are also generous at the hips but the fabric is softer and flows past the hips. Also the sizing is generous but quite short. I normally wear a 6 or 8 in pants and wear a 4Tall in Athleta. My friend who is an hourglass shape looks great in Endless; I’m best in Brooklyn. Check the size charts and inseam measurements before ordering.
Thanks for sharing, Shaza. Different fit perspectives are always helpful.
