April 24, 2026

I’ve got another try-on session for you today with fresh new spring and summer styles. I tried on new finds from Ann Taylor, Chico’s, Eileen Fisher, Madewell and so many more of your favorite brands. You’ll especially see a lot of the trending fiery red in this try-on session, and if you’re looking for linen…I’ve got you covered!

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

For reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 160 pounds. I almost always wear a size 10 in pants and dresses, waist size 30 in jeans and mediums. You can assume that’s what I’m wearing in all of these photographs unless I tell you otherwise. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape. I’ve not styled everything just exactly as I would if I were to wear it out the door. But I’ve tried to stye things enough to give you a feel for how they can look. Let’s get going!

Eileen Fisher Separates in Grenadine

First up is the outfit I actually wore yesterday before and after this massive try-on session. These Eileen Fisher separates in fiery red grenadine are super soft and polished. Truth is I wore them the day before, too. I’m forcing myself NOT to wear them today!

jacket // tank // shorts // sneakers c/o // beaded necklace c/o (use code KAY10 for 10% off) // earrings // bracelet c/o (use code KAY10 for 10% off) // shooting star necklace c/o (use code KAY10 for 10% off)

At Eileen Fisher I almost always size down to a misses or regular SMALL. Indeed these Pima cotton stretch jersey walking shorts and coordinating stretch jersey hooded jacket fit perfectly in the SMALL. They’re not tight at all. And they provide smooth and ample coverage.

I’m wearing the Eileen Fisher separates with a ribbed tank from J.Jill. Coincidentally, I also usually size down to a SMALL in tops and dresses at J.Jill. Thus I’m wearing a small in this tank and it fits very nicely. This “set” is perfect for summer vacation, but I envision wearing it often when I’m home, as I did this week. I don’t mind getting out for strolls through the neighborhood in it, but I’d also wear it out and about. And of course, I can also wear different tops with the shorts.

Next I’m wearing two more pieces from Eileen Fisher in that beautiful grenadine. Again I’ve sized down to a small for a comfortable fit. Here I’ve worn the wide leg linen pants and the v-neck linen and cotton top in a monochromatic pairing. But I will split these up and wear them with other things, too.

I’ve shown a couple of these Noonday pieces before, but all of them are such beautiful quality. You can use code KAY10 at Noonday for 10% off their beautiful hand-crafted jewelry and accessories.

Eileen Fisher is a little pricey, but I’ve always been very happy with my purchases and the quality is superb. I’ve been shopping Eileen Fisher since long before I started this blog, even when I had to scrimp and save. I ordered all of these pieces on my own dime and plan to keep them because I know I’ll wear them frequently through the summer. But I also have less expensive linen options for you.

Tommy Bahama Linen

I find Tommy Bahama to be very good quality at a reasonable price. Their linen is slightly thicker, but equally soft with a lovely drape. These pull-on linen pants feature a drawstring tie and an elasticized waistband. They are a very nice thickness without being heavy. And I love that they have pockets, too. They fit true to size.

relaxed shirt c/o // linen pants c/o // sandals (use code KAY15 for 15% off)

In the first phot I’m wearing them with the relaxed linen shirt partially tucked in just to give you a feel for how that looks. But I would probably more frequently wear these two Tommy Bahama pieces like I’ve done below, with a tank under the open shirt.

Below I’m showing the same linen drawstring pants and tank with the Tommy Bahama raw edge linen jacket. This jacket feels slightly different than the pants, but it is 100% linen and the navy matches. All of these pieces fit true to size.

Below I’m giving you a closer up view of the Noonday Kindred hoop earrings. They have beads with soft turquoise, ivory, navy, muted rose, gold and pearl, so they’re easy to pair with so many things this spring and summer. Use code KAY10 at Noonday for 10% off.

J.Crew and Haven Well Within

Below I’m wearing a different pair of navy linen drawstring pants. These are the J.Crew Soleil pants, and I already have them in three other colors that I wore frequently last summer. They are a thinner pant and a little more casual. Of course, they’re also more of an ankle length on me, but they do come in petite and tall sizes. At 5’8″ I’m just at the top end of the height recommendations for a regular size, but if I size up to a tall I’d have to have them hemmed. And let’s face it, I’m not going to do that for a casual pant like this.

cardigan // tank (sized down to small) // pants c/o // sandals c/o

Here I’m wearing some new sandals I’ve not shown before. These are the leather Muse sandals and they are very similar to a very pricey Hermes sandal, but at a much more reasonable price. They come in other nice colors, too. I’d say they run true to size and they’re quite comfortable. But if you have a narrow foot, these may not work for you.

I’ve worn the Soleil linen pants here with an open stitch cardigan I ordered from Haven Well Within during their current Friends & Family event. I really purchased it to wear with these ice blue linen drawstring pants and this linen stripe v-neck top. Those pieces haven’t arrived yet, but I wanted to go ahead and share the cardigan with you since it’s all 30% off right now. It comes in other colors and is a lovely, on trend option to wear over dresses and tanks this spring and summer.

henley tank // pants // sandals

Above and below I’m wearing the Soleil linen pants with a Henley tank in wash navy. I definitely will not wear this combination like this, but I just didn’t have anything else in my new arrivals to pair it with. Mainly I just wanted you to see the tank.

The tank is very comfortable and fits true to size. It comes in a wash green as well. And it’s a great layering piece.

Frances Valentine

I got in the most exquisite red topper from Frances Valentine. I’ve just started shopping them in the last year or so, and I especially love their accessories and jackets. This one was gifted to me by the brand, and I still haven’t figured out exactly how I’ll wear it. But I think the possibilities are endless for this special occasion jacket.

jacket c/o // tank // white jeans // sandals not available

I’ve worn the Charlotte jacket here over a column of white, but I’d probably prefer a pair of white linen or knit pants. Then again, it is perfectly on trend to wear this dupioni style fabric jacket with jeans for a little juxtaposition. It fits true to size; I’m wearing a medium.

Chico’s

Below I’m wearing a Zenergy® UPF Floral Nights dress from Chico’s. It is a sweet dress for travel or just everyday summer days. I don’t think it looks on me quite like it does on the model. So maybe it runs a little large? The dress is currently 30% off.

dress // sandals

Below I’m wearing two more pieces from Chico’s. The lightweight wide-leg ankle jeans are definitely a little roomy on me. I’m wearing my usual 1.5 (size 10) and I’m not sure the 1 would be comfortable in the waist. But the hips are quite roomy. Anyhow, these are meant to be a very relaxed, lightweight jean for summer.

no iron button shirt // jeans

All in all I think the jeans are a really nice option for summer, but I probably wouldn’t pair them with this no-iron linen shirt in cherry lush. That said, I LOVE the button-up shirt. I’ve worn the Chico’s no-iron linen shirts before, but it’s been a few years. When I saw this bright, beautiful red, I just knew I needed it for summer.

The shirt fits true to size; I’m wearing a 1.5 very comfortably. I simply left the bottom buttons unbuttoned so I could pull it aside and show you the top of the jeans. The shirt is a very nice texture for a linen blend shirt.

J.McLaughlin & M.M.LaFleur

I have two pieces from J.McLaughlin to share with you. I’ve actually been wearing the ribbed polo collar top for a while now. It fits beautifully true to size and comes in navy, blue, almond and white, too.

polo top // travel pants c/o (use code KAY15 for 15% off)

First I’m wearing the polo top with the M.M.LaFleur Colby travel pant in navy. This lightweight, polished pant is perfect for travel days, bit it dresses up nicely, too. You can see me wearing the black ones with the coordinating jacket in this previous blog post. I probably would not wear the top tucked in with these pants, but I wanted you to see the waistband.

You can use code KAY15 at M.M.LaFleur for 15% off your purchase. But there are exclusions to that code, I believe.

polo top // pants // belt

Above and below I’m wearing the soft pink polo top with the Fiona linen blend pants from J.McLaughlin. They fit like a dream true to size; I’m wearing my usual 10. These pants look polished and beautiful. They also come in white, primrose and navy.

belt

I added the Sand Dollar mini Popie grasscloth belt here. It runs true to size and is elasticized.

Ann Taylor

Next, I got in a couple of new things from Ann Taylor. They’re currently having their Friends of Ann sale with 30% off your entire purchase, including new arrivals. If you haven’t checked out Ann Taylor in a while, I suggest you head over there. Yes, many of their styles are more office appropriate. But their new Weekend collection provides plenty of options for a more casual lifestyle.

tie front blouse c/o // pants c/o

Ann Taylor gifted me these items, but it was one of those situations where they only allowed me to choose from about 20 of their new arrivals. So the choices were somewhat limited. I decided to try the tie front blouse because both eyelet and the tie feature are very on trend right now. I actually love the fit and look of the blouse, but I won’t be wearing it with these pants because indeed my mid section shows when I move about at all. It does fit nicely true to size, but it’s just not for me.

The Margo bi-stretch pants fit beautifully true to size; I’m wearing a misses 10. They feature a high rise, a full length inseam and a hidden hook and zipper closure. The fiery sunset color is definitely an orange red, but they do come in black, navy and a soft rose color, too. Unfortunately I didn’t have those options.

Madewell

I’ve actually had this Madewell “set” for well over a month, but just haven’t had time to share it. I guess I kept thinking I would get out to take photos for a styled blog post, but that just hasn’t happened yet.

relaxed blazer // tank // pull on linen pants // similar sandals

This is a casual take on a linen suit. But I’m not sure this is exactly how I’ll end up styling it. Here I threw on drawstring linen pants and the relaxed blazer with the J.Jill ribbed tank and heeled sandals (similar). Both pieces fit true to size; I’m wearing mediums. The linen is a medium weight and a very casual texture.

So that’s a wrap! Let me know if you have questions and I’ll try to stay in the loop on the comments. Thanks so much for stopping in. I have a shopping widget below with all (hopefully!) of the items shown above. But you can also shop them through the links above. Have a great weekend!

Blessed for My Day

When we fully trust in the Lord we can be rest in His lovingkindness and provision. But trusting God is easier said than done. Don’t you think? On a day to day basis I have no trouble trusting God to provide and to accompany me through the events of the day. But when something unexpected comes down the pike, our faith is tested. That’s when we find out just how much we really trust God versus how much we’re just depending on things staying the same.

I’ve learned that trusting God is a practice. It requires diligence on my part. I try to take time each morning to acknowledge His faithfulness. I remind myself of how God has provided over the course of my life, my week. And then I take time to praise Him verbally, even audibly, for His character and His promises. Then each night I look back over my day and notice His presence and provision. Taking the time to reflect on God’s faithfulness helps build my faith. It also increases my gratitude.

The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life. ~ Psalm 42:8

  1. Kay, thank you! You have shown some interesting pieces and I love the red color from EF. I have one red piece of clothing in my closet but this summer I may add something new.

  2. Really Kay, I have to say you look so cute in the red flare pants and tie front shirt. Always so appreciate your blessed for my day.

  3. I ordered the JCrew linen pants in light wheat color. I cant wait to try. The back pickets look a bit more polished than other choices of linen pants you are showing today. I used Friends and Family to get free shipping.
