Hey, hey, hey! I’m back to posting my daily outfits on Fridays. I think you can expect to see me share how I really dressed for my days at the end of each week for the next month or so. These are my real life outfits. Let’s see what I wore this first week of summer.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask. All available items are linked in the captions of the photos. Even if they don’t look like links (sometimes they don’t highlight for some reason), they generally are. So just click through if you’re interested.

What I Wore Last Friday

Last Friday we began the day by shooting outfit photos. You may recall this outfit from this blog post shared earlier in the week. But I really did wear this purple on purple combination all day long while I worked from home and then went out to dinner.

linen button up // linen pants // sandals //pebble necklace // herringbone necklace // earrings // bracelet

These wild orchid linen pants are still available in a wide range of sizes, and they’re marked down significantly. You get to take another 30% off so they come out to under $35. Wow! They run a little large; I’m wearing a medium and they’re roomy. But I love them. Especially with this lavender linen button up. You may notice I did change shoes after the photo shoot. These Clarks Collection leather slide sandals have become favorites for my work days. They’re super soft inside and provide the cushion and support I need. They run true to size and come in other colors and wide widths.

How I Dressed Saturday

Saturday I worked around the house catching up on household duties. I’d been sick the week before, and I needed to do a lot of laundry, ironing and tidying. I’m loving these J.Jill drawstring knit shorts and my terry pullover hoodie for around the house.

I’m not one generally to wear an outfit like this out and about. But then again, I can definitely see myself wearing it to visit with family or go to my friend’s lake house. Unfortunately the shorts are almost sold out and the top is, too, in this color. But it’s more stocked in the lotus purple. I have a small in the top and a medium in the shorts.

What I Wore to Church Sunday

Sunday I decided to wear a colorful dress to church. Afterwards we celebrated Father’s Day by going out for Mexican food.

This dress is super comfortable and runs true to size. I’m wearing a medium.

How I Dressed for My Day Monday

Monday we shot videos and you may recognize this outfit from Wednesday’s YouTube Video. I have fallen in love with this Tommy Bahama silk shirt (also at Nordstrom) so much that I ordered it in the pretty blue, too. It came in just yesterday and I’ve already ironed it to wear soon. The silk feels just lovely and has such a pretty drape.

But mostly I think I just love the colors. They’re rich and beautifully pigmented. This isn’t the last time you’ll see this one this week! Here I wore the silk shirt (also at Nordstrom) with my Frank & Eileen Wexford linen pants. That has become one of my favorite combinations of the summer, especially with the cognac accessories.

Tuesday’s Outfit

I’m working on a blog post about what to wear with denim shorts. I don’t wear mine out and about much (but again, lake house, visiting family, backyard cookout all may call for them!), but I do wear them a lot each summer at home. They’re just so comfortable and summery. I’m especially liking these relaxed denim shorts in Magnolia wash from Talbots.

short sleeve button up // denim shorts // belt // sandals // earrings // necklace

The Magnolia wash denim shorts run true to size. I’m wearing my larger size these days, a size 10. I’m still wearing an 8 in Talbots jeans, but I generally size up in their shorts. They are soft and have a nice amount of stretch, so they are so comfortable. I like the 5″ inseam and the frayed edge. I wore them with another favorite, my palm and stripe linen shirt. I accessorized with cognac sandals and belt and Gorjana jewelry, as well as my Penelope jewelry Arabella diamond chain necklace (use code KAY20 for 20% off fine jewelry at Penelope).

How I Dressed Wednesday

Wednesday was just a work from home day. It’s been hot, hot, hot here, so the goal has been just to stay cool. Our air conditioner is original to our house and probably needs to be replaced. And since my office is upstairs it gets a little warm as the day goes on. So linen is serving me well.

shirt // linen lantern pants // similar sandals // necklace // earrings // bracelet

I love the simplicity of this white linen lantern pants and sleeveless puckered linen shirt, both from Eileen Fisher.

What I Wore Thursday for a Speaking Engagement

Thursday I spoke at the Cincinnati Christian Women’s Connection monthly luncheon. It was so much fun. I shared Summer Style Secrets. Don’t worry. I’ve shared them all here with you already!

silk shirt // skirt // necklace // earrings // bracelet // heels

I felt smart and comfortable in my paradise pink (it’s really more red) silk shirt and Veronica Beard linen A-line skirt. I usually swap in my cognac belt here, but decided to wear my nude slingbacks with the same-fabric belt instead this day.

Thursday Afternoon

Then Thursday afternoon I switched into a cool cotton dress for comfort and coolness. I’ve been surprised how much I love this Frank & Eileen Lauren polo dress. Actually, I was surprised that it was long enough for me. But I definitely think it is. It feels very youthful and fresh.

Lauren polo dress – no longer in this color or in this color at Nordstrom (similar shirt dress for less_) // tote bag // sandals // necklace // bracelet // earrings

The Lauren polo dress is no longer available in this color at Frank & Eileen and sizes are going fast in others. But it is available at Nordstrom. I wear a size large in this dress, per the size charts.

Bonus Outfit

I haven’t actually worn this long. I put it on after it arrived yesterday afternoon. Jude Connally has welcomed me into their partner program, which is very good news for me and you. I got a few new pieces gifted to me to share with you. And you get 15% off anytime you shop my links and use code KAY15. Win, win!

shirt // skort // similar sneakers // necklace // earrings

So many of my readers say they play sports like pickle ball, so I decided to try out the Morgan skort and Angelica shirt, both in Jude cloth. They’re super soft and so festive looking. Both pieces run true to size; I’m wearing a medium in both. Be sure to use code KAY15 if you shop Jude Connally. Remember, I shared some of their beautiful dresses in this blog post and the coupon code works for those, too.

Blessed for My Day

I start off my days going for a walk these days. But I still prioritize my Bible reading soon after. During that quiet time with the Lord I begin to feel so centered. I finish reading the Scriptures and feel ready to start my day, knowing that I will seek to serve Him and know Him better. That’s my goal.

But as the day goes on, it’s easy to lose sight of that goal and commitment. Can you identify? The world gets in the way and feels louder than the still, small voice inside. It clamors for my attention and demands its way. I feel pushed and squeezed. When I notice that happening I’m challenged to regain my footing. How do you go about keeping your focus, your roots, throughout the day? I’d love to hear from you.

For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? ~ Mark 8:36

xoxo, Kay

  1. I love Christian Women’s Connection; called club in the old days. This no longer is working where I live😥. I was involved for 27 years, held every position and miss it. Life changing. Very hot weather here too

  2. You inspire time to try to look pulled together everyday even when I’m not going anywhere. thank you!💜

  3. I am very thankful for the Christian friend I had when I first got saved as a teenager. She drilled into me that I needed to pray and read the Bible everyday. I’m so glad she did that because it is a habit that has kept me close to God.

  4. Hi Kay so pleased that your OOTD is back 👏🏻I love to see how you dress for your week and WOW if my legs looked as good as yours I would be wearing my shorts out and about 👍🏻That Tommy Bahama silk blouse is just so darling , it looks so good with the trousers but also with the veronica beard midi skirt. Love that little blue sports skort and polo top . All your outfits look so good for Summer dressing . Loved your BFMD too , like you I start my day in prayer and for much of it do well , but then sometimes when people can be so unkind to others and exasperatingly infuriating and just want an argument , I find a reason to go away and just be still and quiet even for a short time can help 🙏🏻❤️Thank you for all your hard work and beautiful inspiration 🥰

  5. I usually like the outfits you show. But, the one shirt tail out and the other side tucked in does not appeal to me.

    1. That’s okay, Nancy. It doesn’t have to. We’re all individuals. I love it, but to each her own. Do you and enjoy! 😊

  6. Hello. I am truly glad I found you! Honestly, I try to start with my bible reading with coffee in the morning, but life happens!! I think the thing is to regroup and try again before the day goes by. God knows!! Thank you for your advice, appreciated! God bless you.

    1. Thanks so much for sharing. Yes, that’s how I start my day. But I’m thinking I need to pause midday to meditate on Scripture a bit too. I used to be better about that, so I’m going to try to get back in the habit. 😊
