Happy Friday! I’m circling back around to sharing my daily outfits at the end of each week. Sometimes I fall out of the habit as life just gets busy and I neglect to take those essential daily outfit photos. But I know so many readers enjoy this view into my real life outfits. So today I’m sharing about eight early summer everyday outfits for women over 50. This is how I really dressed for my day!

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. Youāll find shoppable links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. Iāll also share fit information there IF the garment doesnāt fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me ācourtesy ofā that brand. Finally, Iām 5ā8ā³ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
What I Wore Friday
Last Friday was just a normal work from home day. In fact, let’s just settle into the fact that most of my days are spent working in my home office. I like to feel comfortable enough in what I’m wearing to sit at my desk for long stretches of time, but also be polished enough to feel competent and ready to step out the door.

I’d gotten in these seashell white wide leg crop jeans (c/o) and this short-sleeve striped ribbed bateau-neck tee (c/o) from J.Crew Factory and wanted to give them a whirl. I’d been so impressed with them from the moment I tried them on. If you think back to this week’s YouTube video on contrast in intensity you might see that this outfit is reminiscent of one I styled there with different jeans and top…that you’ll see further down worn in separate outfits. While there is high contrast in this tee, I feel like the seashell white wide leg crop jeans work nicely with it for me and my coloring. I LOVE this little tee and jeans, by the way. They fit great, feel so comfortable and the price is really sweet on both.
How I Dressed Saturday
I’d gotten in an order from J.Crew, too, and I wanted to wear these sweet meringue yellow linen drawstring pants. I’d also ordered the Paris sky blue linen t-shirt and DID NOT really mean to wear them together. But as I was trying things on from the order, I decided, “Why not?” This is definitely color-blocking, but not necessarily following the guideline I gave in this YouTube video about wearing colors close on the color wheel.

That said, at least the two are in the same vibrancy, which I also advised in that video. I didn’t wear this anywhere except home, so no harm no foul it’s just too much. What do you think? I’d love to hear your {kind} opinion about this combination. On any given day I may or may not choose to pair light yellow and blue again. Who knows? But let me tell you, the sweet meringue yellow linen drawstring pants are actually lined with a 100% viscose super soft lightweight fabric. So they’re not sheer at all. I’m wearing the Classic fit and they wear as ankle pants on my 5’8″ frame, but they also come in petite and tall.
What I Wore to Church Sunday
Here you’re getting a sneak peek at an upcoming blog post actually. We often get in a set of photos after church because I’m dressed for my day and we’re already out and about. I’ll be doing more than sharing the outfit, but you’ll see this Veronica Beard trio again. It’s all quite the splurge, I realize. But wow, I love this lightweight Clayton plaid dickey blazer. I worried that it would be heavy, but it’s super lightweight even though it’s fully lined.

The Veronica Beard Taylor scalloped cropped wide-leg jeans fit true to size and are very on trend and comfortable. I love the little scallop detail on the sides. Fun ornamentation like that is really trending right now. I’m not usually one to like embroidery or whatever on my jeans, but during the summer it feels fun to me. I have provided more economical options above in the captions.
How I Dressed Monday
Monday we shot this week’s video. I know, nothing like getting down to the wire! But the weather just hadn’t cooperated the week before. Believe it or not, we prefer to shoot when it’s sunny outside so we can get some natural light coming through the windows…on top of the professional lighting that James sets up for each video shoot.

So I modeled this outfit somewhere along the way in the video…I think. Or maybe I changed into this after all the modeling. Anyhow this is what I wore for the presentation part, and then I kept it on for the rest of the afternoon. Notice I slipped into my Paul Green sneakers, however. You can just about know for sure that when I’m recording the speaking part of any video, I’m wearing these super comfortable shoes. I’m standing in one place for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, so the only shoes I want to wear for that time period are these. So worth the investment! (And cute to boot!)
What I Wore for an Appointment Tuesday
Tuesday I dashed out for an early manicure appointment before returning home to spend the rest of the day at my desk editing the video. I had enjoyed wearing these J.Crew Factory classic wide-leg jeans (c/o) in the video, so I decided to wear them for the day. Super comfortable but so stylish. And of course the price is great. They come in petite and tall, too. I’m wearing the classic fit in a size 30, so they run true to size.

My button-up shirt is no longer available. It’s a favorite from Frank & Eileen’s Liberty of London line last year. Also my bag is from Brighton several years ago. I got my mom one of those, too, and we both use them non-stop each summer.
What I Wore Wednesday During the Day
Wednesday I just worked from home. I got in some more orders, so I ended up in jeans from one of those. I’ve been on pursuit of the perfect light wash ankle jeans. I want a straight silhouette, not too slim but not too wide. Hahaha! Just right. So I ordered about four styles and have gotten all of them in except one that arrives today.

Here I’m wearing the Mother the Rambler high rise straight leg ankle jeans in the size 31, which I usually wear in Mother. But these are a little thinner than some and have a lot of stretch, so I’ve decided to keep the 30s (not shown here) instead. Also these are not as high rise (they’re 11.25″) as I’d like (11.5″ to 12″), but I love the silhouette and length and the wash. So I can’t wear these with a shirt tucked in and belted (I’d get a muffin top and unflattering proportions). But I can enjoy wearing them with an untucked shirt like the one above. They’re very comfortable and really great summer jeans.
By the way, I’m keeping the Frame Le Sleek Straight in Tribute. They say they have an 11″ in rise, but I just measured and it’s really 12.5″. So they fit me so much better as far as proportions, right at my belly button. I will however, have to have them hemmed because they have a 28″ inseam and I need more like a 27″ or even a 26.5″ for an ankle jean. I also purchased the Frame the Ruler in Dolly, which are on sale. But I returned them because they were a little narrower than I want and quite long. (I’m not sure why I ordered them to begin with???) Great jeans, but not what I was looking for.
How I Dressed for an Evening Out Wednesday
Wednesday evening James and I went out to a favorite steak restaurant for dinner. We generally go there for anniversaries, but we had a gift card and decided to just go for “no special reason” this time. It was delightful to get out for a beautiful evening with good food and amazing service.

I loved having an opportunity to wear my new Farm Rio dress. It’s lightweight cotton and so fun! I also tried out the Margaux sandals (c/o) I’d just gotten in and, wow, they were so comfortable. And I love how they set of my foot and disappear, too. I realize this dress is very high contrast in intensity. But like I said in this week’s video, sometimes we have different style goals. On this night my goal was to feel fun and festive.
What I Wore Thursday
And yesterday I worked from home again. Yeah, that’s pretty much what I do. LOL! I wanted to wear the other things I’d gotten in from J.Crew Factory, so I put together an outfit with these light khaki shorts (c/o) and heather oatmeal tank top (c/o). I created a column of color by adding a favorite white linen shirt.

This was not my favorite outfit of the week. After taking these photos I realized it looked a little bland. But I was comfortable and pulled together enough for the day I was living. Honestly, I would have made a grocery run in this, but not much else. I don’t know. What do you think? Regardless, the shorts are super comfortable and fit so nicely, and the tank is really versatile and bra friendly. So they’re good items to have in my summer wardrobe, but they may not make another appearance together. LOL!
Thank you so much for stopping in to see my early summer everyday outfits. I hope you have a lovely Friday and a great weekend. Let me know if you have any questions, and I’d love to hear from you in the comments today.

Blessed for My Day
When life gets busy or full or even hard, it’s easy to lose perspective. Even more importantly, we’re prone to lose touch with the Lord, who gives us perspective and wisdom. That’s why it’s crucial that we take time to draw away from the busyness and noise of life to be quiet before the Lord. Personally, I have to do this daily, not just occasionally.Ā
Many of us have become so accustomed to the noise of this world that we shy away from the quiet. We get in the habit of having something going all the time – listening to a podcast on our walks, music as we drive or work, the hum of the television as we clean house or cook, the snippets of humor and sarcasm as we scroll social media. But let’s not forsake the habit of sitting in silence. That’s where we will more often hear from the Lord as He helps us to regain the perspective we so desperately need for living in this topsy turvy world. When will you enjoy the quiet today?
So He said, āGo forth and stand on the mountain before theĀ Lord.ā And behold, theĀ LordĀ was passing by! AndĀ a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before theĀ Lord;Ā butĀ theĀ LordĀ wasĀ not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake,Ā butĀ theĀ LordĀ wasĀ not in the earthquake.Ā After the earthquake a fire,Ā butĀ theĀ LordĀ wasĀ not in the fire; and after the fireĀ a sound of a gentle blowing.Ā When Elijah heardĀ it,Ā he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold,Ā a voiceĀ came to him and said, āWhat are you doing here, Elijah?ā ~ 1 Kings 19:11-13
I always like to see what you really wear. I like the beige outfit the best (go figure, the one you weren’t sure you would wear together again.)
Have a wonderful weekend! Arna
Interesting. Yeah, I’m rethinking that. Hahaha! Thanks so much reading. Have a great weekend!
You look āspot ionāin every picture! The plaid blazer is perfect for your coloring, and youāve chosen such good combos with it. I really like the blue top/yellow pants outfit. It looks so refreshing and summery on you. I donāt think itās too bright – it highlights your eyes and hair. This is your season!
Ahh, thanks so much. I do love that blazer! Thanks for chiming in on the yellow and blue outfit. It would definitely be fun for the beach!
You look wonderful in every outfit. I love seeing how you dress every day.
Thank you, Joyce.
Based on your recent review of the Tumi cosmetic bag, I ordered one and received it yesterday. It is as well-constructed and functional as you described. I made sure to note that my reason for ordering was due to your blog post.
Thank you for your review.
Ahh, thatās lovely to hear. Thanks for letting me know. š
I love that Thursday outfit-comfortable and pulled together! Also I finally ordered your Evereve sandals-they are so comfortable! And they were on sale. Thanks for the heads up[!
Lovely. Thanks for sharing.
I Love the blue linen tee with the yellow pants! I would definitely wear them together. So pretty! š
Me too. That blue and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations.
Great to hear. šš
I always love to see your outfits for the week. Your new Veronica Beard blazer is fabulous and really suits you. I think the blue top and yellow trousers look good together. They are perfect for casual days in the summer..
Thanks Jane.
Kay, all of these outfits are real winners in my book! They embrace the seasonās warmer temperatures and feature some of my favorite color combinations (soft blue with buttercream). Absolutely wonderful!
Thanks Debra. Iām glad you enjoyed the post. šš
I love the soft look of the beige outfit – LOL!
Thanks Lori. š
I think you knocked it out of the park! You look fantastic in all of the outfits. I love the blue and yellow and think it looks so summery and refreshing. I also like the oatmeal and white outfit. I would maybe add a necklaceā¦my grandmother believed in wearing a necklace with every outfitā¦lol
I am also on the hunt for a lighter wash blue jean so keep passing on what you see and find. Thank you for the BFMD.
James is a fabulous photographer!
Thanks for sharing, Alli. Iāll definitely share the jeans I find. I tried on a pair of Paige jeans today that I hoped to like, but they were a little too slim fitting in the legs and had 0 stretch. So thus far the winner is the Frame jeansā¦but I have to have them hemmed. š
Hi, Kay!
I loved the yellow and blue combo! Maybe it works for me because of the vibrant levels of color, but it looks like a sunny summer day to me.But it did make the oatmeal and white outfit look a bit bland, as you said. I think I just like more color in the summertime.
Thanks for your honest commentary. It is so helpful.
Thanks for sharing, Anne. Good points.
Hi Kay,
You look great in everything today but my favorite was the last outfit. The one you thought looked bland. I didnāt think that at all. I guess I liked it so much as it is something I would wear. The yellow and blue was nice together. Oh, and the blazer, wow! You look so great in it. Itās like it was made for you.
Have a great weekend!
Thanks for sharing that, Juliet. š
So, here’s my 2 cents. The VB blazer has powder blue and yellow in it, and looks fantastic on you. And you wore it with a yellow top and blue jeans. The whole look was very muted and cohesive. So I’d say, you can wear those two colors together. š But maybe you just personally find color blocking too bold of a style formula? Anyhow, blue and yellow is a win for you. Also, that Liberty shirt looks awesome on you. š
Ahh, good point. Yes, color blocking does always feel a little bold to me. But sometimes I enjoy it. Good food for thought. Thanks for sharing. š„°
You are so beautiful. I love you in the dress you wore for your night out at the steak house. I live in a small town and no one dresses up anymore…..not even for church, so when I do step it up a notch, I feel funny but I’ve decided I’m going to wear what I feel like wearing. I guess I always have done that. People got really lazy during covid and some haven’t recovered. LOL As for your “bland” outfit, I guess I have to agree. I think the pieces are nice, but I don’t love the combo together. I haven’t even worn shorts yet this season. Its been nice outside but I’ve been going places with air conditioning or in the house and I don’t feel comfortable…..too cold. Tomorrow is suppose to be hot, so maybe tomorrow. Have a great rest of your day. I’m reading this late. Love that I found your blog. I really enjoy your post and getting to know you and your family as you write.
I know what you mean about everyone else being very casual. But Iāve found that when I do dress up a little people notice and are generally complimentary and āinspiredā by my outfit. I think thatās important because we can be an encouragement to others just by the way we dress.
PS I actually like the yellow pants and light blue shirt on you and think you should wear it together. So Summery and refreshing.
Thanks, Kathy. š
First, I loved your reflection today. It hit home as the struggle is real
The next thing is your last, but relaxed outfit. Maybe just a little bit of color? However, you do pull this off.
Thanks for the inspiration on faith and clothing.
I just had to comment because I really liked the last outfit on you, that you felt was too blah. On a hot day in the summer, that is just such a calm and cooling look.
The Veronica Beard blazer is so cute and looks great on you!!!
I think the shorts outfit is really nice on you.
I enjoyed this weekās post. You look great and the outfits you wore this week were perfect on you. I like that you are modern and up to date but not trending some styles seen on younger women. You look classily and elegant, and at my age, thatās my goal when dressing. Your hair looks great that length also.
Good job on the new blog design.
I see why the shorts outfit was not yr favorite. Blah and shorts too short. I understand the interest in Farm Rio. There dresses are usually colorful and beautiful. The one you are wearing looks confusing.
Kay, you asked for questions a while back. I was wondering if you could give us some advice on coordinating jewelry with outfits. I’ve noticed when I wear a print, I seem to prefer a simple single strand or one color necklace. When I’m wearing solids, I lean toward a busier necklace. After I saw your video on contrast, I’m wondering how jewelry might enhance an outfit. I realize simple small necklaces, like a cross or diamond pendant, go with everything, but I’d like to wear some of my coral, turquoise, and pearls in various colors to their best advantage.
I donāt think the Farm Rio outfit looks confusing. Kay, you always look lovely in your outfits. Not all of them are going to be everyoneās choice but thatās ok, you are the one wearing them, no one else. The ones you show us for the week are what you wanted to wear and I think that as your goal that evening was to feel fun and festive, you nailed it. Well done Kay.
I really enjoyed your video from Wednesday. I chuckled about always having noise. I’m guilty because I have tinitus. I also have pulsate tinitus. I think that’s how it’s spelled. If it’s real quiet I can hear my heartbeat. So having noise keeps me from focusing on the tinitus. I’m going to have a CT scan to rule out serious stuff. So please say a prayer for me.
I like the blue linen top with the yellow linen pants. Blue and yellow feel summery to me. š Interestingly, the next outfit had blue jeans with a yellow top! I enjoy seeing your “day to day” outfits. It encourages me to try to “dress” for my day, whatever it holds.
Thank you.
I love the beige outfit a lot! I would wear that exact outfit and add cognac candles and a cognac handbag.
Kay, would you consider including the size you are wearing somewhere? I see some bloggers put it in parentheses right after the link just below the photo. It’s helpful to know when deciding what size to order for yourself. I’ve been looking at the J Crew linen pants and many reviews say they run big. I’d love to hear your perspective.
Also, thank you for including the rise information in this blog and also mentioning that what you measured was different that what the product description says. That is very helpful.
I enjoy reading your blog! Thanks for your hard work!
I enjoy seeing what you wear for the week and hearing what youāve been up to Kay. Iāve been on the fence for sometime now about the new wide leg look in pants but I think Iām finally warming up to the idea. I wore so many of these styles back in my younger years but now Iām going to look for more styles similar to the ones you wore for your Tuesday appointment. I also had a good chuckle hearing about your night out to your favourite steakhouse. Hubby and I did the exact same thing last night lol. We also had a gift card to use and with no special occasion to celebrate, we went to our favourite steakhouse for dinner. Happy new week to you!
I’ve always liked blue and yellow together. I think it looks great on you. I agree that the neutral and white last outfit was a little dull, but a blue linen shirt instead of the white one might have been just right. I love the Farm Rio dress! So pretty, not something I would wear, but I can enjoy it on you! Thank you for sharing!
