If you’ve watched any of my YouTube videos you’ve probably noticed that I rarely – make that NEVER – change my mantel decorations. Yes, it’s true. I’m a woman who changes her hairstyle and closet more frequently than most, but I tend to decorate my home and…leave it that way. Hahaha! But recently MacKenzie Childs reached out with an opportunity for me to do a little decorating with their beautiful seasonal pieces, and I couldn’t pass it up. So today I’m sharing how I’m decorating for fall with MacKenzie-Childs.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I’ve been familiar with the bold colors and signature checks and stripes of MacKenzie-Childs for sometime, but I’d never purchased anything from them. And yes, everything here was gifted to me from MacKenzie-Childs in exchange for an Instagram post. But now that I’ve brought a few of these artful treasures into my home, I can assure you I will order more. In fact, I’ve already selected a few to purchase for my Christmas decor, including this cardinal toile short vase.

While the MacKenzie-Childs “look” is certainly unique and distinct, it’s also consistent. They introduce new items every year, but you can also build a collection of MacKenzie-Childs that coordinates beautifully. So year after year you can delight your guests and brighten up your spaces with their signature style, making it your own along the way.

This is my morning room. I sit in here each morning for my quiet time of Bible reading, prayer and preparing for my day. Then James and I gather here for coffee, too. Once it gets cool enough, we’ll have a fire in our fireplace most every day. Below is a glimpse of a little more of this room when it’s not decorated for autumn, just to give you a little more context.

As you can see, I love splashes of color. So the bold, eclectic use of color in the MacKenzie-Childs pieces is right in line with my preferences. In fact, I like to say that the theme for my home is joy. I want my home to look easy on the eyes, but also feel happy and delightful.

For the fall I’ve taken down my green and blue glass jars, but I’ve left my simple framed scripture (similar options below in the shopping widget) and my Cardinal Grosbeak painting on canvas by John James Audubon. Mine is the 24X36 framed canvas in a gold floating frame, in case you’re curious. Birds have become central to our decorating motif. We love watching for a radiance of cardinals outside those windows on winter days. Did you know that a group of cardinals is called a “radiance?” Isn’t that lovely?

I think the canvas cardinal and framed scripture look perfectly at home amongst the MacKenzie-Childs floral topiary, velvet pumpkins and velvet check birds. And I grounded my decor with MacKenzie-Childs signature black and white on the Courtly gold foliage pumpkin and Courtly small candle lantern.

To take these photos I used a real candle in my lantern, but I’ve ordered these LED flameless pillar candles and plan to use one of those in there.

I love touches of whimsy in my home decor, so MacKenzie-Childs really works for me. But if you prefer a more traditional or reserved approach to home decor, you’ll find beautiful options at MacKenzie-Childs. They run great specials throughout the year to help you build your collections. And if you sign up for the MacKenzie-Childs rewards program you can loyalty points toward rewards.

Today’s blog post is not sponsored by the way. The decor was gifted for an Instagram collaboration. But I loved the results of my little decorating venture so much, I just had to share it with you here, too.

Are you going through a hard thing? You have a choice. You can allow the hard thing to harden your heart, causing you to grown bitter and withdrawn. Or you can keep your heart soft through the hard season, allowing it to help you become better.
Can you look back in the rearview mirror of your life and see how the hard things have shaped you? Have you persevered, developing character and hope? Or have you grown despondent, hopeless and hardened? Ask the Lord to show you any bitterness that may have taken root and allow Him to pull out those entangling attitudes. As your heart softens He will be able to shape within you a godly character that points others to Him.
And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope… ~ Romans 5:3-4

Good morning! I just love MacKenzie Childs! Your Morning Room looks so cozy and warm and brings a smile to my face! I have several of their pieces, and a front door mat! I was introduced through QVC, and they run specials on their items. I love when their representative, Rebecca, presents during shows. She is lovely and a joy to listen to. I highly recommend you check out QVC!
Thanks for sharing, Sue. Yes, I’ve shopped QVC before and love their great deals. In fact, I’ve worked with them a couple of times, too. I’ll have to check out their offerings of MacKenzie-Childs when they have them.
I do own MacKenzie-Childs pieces I’ve had for years. I have a glass votive candle holder, a glass candy dish I filled with decorative glass candies, and a ceramic candy dish I fill with real candy. I especially love the black and white checked motif.
Lovely! Thanks so much for sharing, Debbie. I like the black and white, too.
I like your choices. I like that you can add pieces through the years. This makes it more affordable, especially in the inflation times.
Nice BFMD.
Yes, I think most of us enjoy collecting something. At this point in life I don’t want to collect a lot of things, but a collection like this is one I can pass down to my daughter or daughter-in-law one day if they want it. Thanks for sharing!

I love your autumn decorations! I’m letting you know that I went to Provence with Shelly Wildman on September 13th. You wrote about your trip to England with her. I read your blog daily, and we seem to be of the same mind. My daughter went with me. It was just the best experience ever. I’ve made new friends and got to experience new parts of the world. Thank you for your fine writing.
How wonderful! I know you loved every minute of that trip. I followed along with Shelly on Instagram. It looked like you all had a marvelous time. Thanks for letting me know!

Your mantel and fire place decor is perfect. It’s so pretty and unique. Love how you put it all together. I love how you decorate. It’s so bright and cheery. Thanks for sharing it and I’ll have to check out their website. I’ve never heard of them. I live on the West coast.
Your mantle looks great – but I actually prefer Abby’s more simple decorations for a fraction of the cost. So much easier on my eye and restful. Great idea to share both.
I love the devotional message. The fall decorations are so pretty. I enjoyed your daughter’s post yesterday too. I decorate like her with just a few touches.
I’m so excited to see that McKenzie Childs did your fireplace! Now it would be amazing for them to do every season!
