Cargo Pants for Casual Summer Look

Hi there! Today on Dressed for My Day I’m sharing a casual summer look created with my new blue cargo pants. I find myself wearing these pants often, so you’ll probably see me style them other ways in the future. But today let’s see how I created this casual summer look with a lightweight tie front t-shirt.

These high waist cargos are made with 97% cotton and 3% spandex for a flattering and comfortable stretch fit. They fit close to the body, but they don’t feel tight or binding at all. Just the contrary. These cargo pants are some of the most comfortable pants I’ve come across in a while.

The cargo pants have an inseam of 30″ so they fit full length on my 5’8″ frame. But they’re darling cuffed up, too. So if you’re shorter these pants are a great option for you as well.

These pants also come in espresso (dark brown), flax (beige) and thyme (grey-ish green). If you’re looking for a lightweight, sporty pant to wear casually this summer – perhaps as an alternative to shorts – these are a great choice. Truly, I don’t rave about and highly recommend every item I feature here. But I think these cargo pants are a versatile, comfortable and contemporary addition to my wardrobe. In fact, I’m probably going to order another pair.

I’d like to be able to recommend this t-shirt as highly. And I do like it. But warning: it runs extremely large. As you can see in the photos, my top is really too big. And it’s a small. Usually when I’m advised to size down, I simply need to wear the smaller of the two sizes I gravitate toward – a small. But in this case, I really need an x-small.

On the plus side, this striped tie front tee is oh so soft and comfortable. And I do like the look of it…if it fits correctly. Also I love this shade of green and it also comes in a pretty blue, which you’ll see me where in another post.

I’ve been topping my cargo pants with my white denim jacket during the cool mornings and evenings.

And these pants work with so many footwear choices. I’ve worn my espadrilles (similar), my leather sandals and my sneakers with them.

Looking back at these photos, I wish I’d styled these cargo pants with a top that fit better. Oh well. This striped tie front tee is a great top, but definitely keep the sizing in mind. At any rate, I’ve enjoyed wearing these cargo pants with graphic tees and solid t-shirts as well.

Blessed for My Day

Have you felt the sting of rejection? Whether your work was handed back to you because it wasn’t up to par or your invitation was turned down from a lack of interest, rejection hurts. I’ve known the pain of rejection. I remember going through a particular season of being rejected by a dear friend when I truly felt like I wore a big L for Loser on my forehead. Rejection can leave a mark on you.

But remember, sweet gal, that there is One who will never reject you. In fact, when others push you away or simply ignore you, God invites you in. He longs to draw you close, hold you tight, engage with you and be your forever friend. If the King of the universe says you are no Loser, you, my dear, are no loser. You are beloved.

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! ~ Psalm 66:20

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Kay the top really does not look that big on you but I know how it is when you would feel comfortable in a size that fits better. Been there done that many times 🙂 Can’t wait to see another post where you put a different top with these pants to see if it changes your whole attitude…which it will ! I like tie front tops as they do seem to hide my mid-section just a little bit more. I have never owned a pair of cargo pants so that would be something new for me. And…your hair always looks so pretty!

    1. Maybe you’re right Sandi. The top feels very roomy. I’m going to try it on again. Also I’ve washed and dried it, so maybe it will have drawn up some. ?

  2. Great BFMD! Kay, while you are not happy with how the Caslon top looks on you, I still think you look nice and I appreciate you sharing the pictures with us any way. Cool mornings and evenings sound wonderful! I have a pair of the cargo pants in my closet, but haven’t worn them yet. Wit and Wisdom pants and shorts have become one of my favorites because of how they fit, how I feel in them, and how they wear. Have a blessed day!

  3. I do like the pants, but k think they would look better with a cuff. I think it would look more casual. The top does look a bit too big for you. Looking forward to the June challenge.
