While it definitely feels like we are in the thick of summer, fall is indeed on the horizon. So if we choose to refresh our wardrobes at this point it’s definitely smart to look for pieces that we can wear now and wear later. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing lots of versatile styles from some of your favorite brands with that wear now/wear later factor. Today Avara has released smart-looking new arrivals that are lightweight and beautiful for now, but that can also be worn into the upcoming season. Let’s check out a few of my favorite pieces from their newest collection.

Wear the Kimberly Ecru Jeans Now & Later
I started both of my wear now and wear later outfits with the Kimberly jeans in ecru. Lately off white, ecru or parchment colored jeans have been more on trend that bright white. So you may already have something similar in your closet. Wear them into fall with confidence!

But if you don’t have any, I can highly recommend these high rise, wide leg jeans, exclusively available at Avara. They fit true to size for a beautiful, slimming silhouette. This on trend style could even serve you well year round with different footwear. I love the patch pockets on the front, which you’ll see more clearly below. I’m wearing a size 30.

I’ve topped the ecru Kimberly jeans with a black Bennett top, which features pleating throughout and lace inset details. Slightly flared at the bottom, due to the tiny pleats, and nicely cropped in length, it’s a top you can easily leave untucked for beautiful, soft styling and pleasing proportions.

The Bennett top features a Peter Pan collar with lace trim and softly puffed sleeves with more detail work. It’s made in a lightweight 100% cotton fabric and can be machine washed and laid flat to dry. I’m wearing a medium for a nice fit.

There are so many ways you could style this combination, but I chose to wear my black Vince heeled slides and carry my Veronica Beard leather tote, both available in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The strappy sandals fit beautifully true to size, and I love the way they bookend this outfit without weighing it down.

Next I topped the ecru Kimberly jeans with a pretty Sandra top in maroon. This lightweight, 100% cotton top features trending all-over texture and a doubled over flutter sleeve. I love the multidimensional texture and shape of this otherwise simple top.

As I’ve scoured the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and taken notice of new arrivals coming into our favorite stores, I’ve noted that texture is playing a major role in fall fashion. So not only does the maroon color of this Sandra top take you into the next season beautifully, but the details on this top will put you at the front of the class.

This time I completed the look with my Veronica Beard leather tote and those same Vince heeled slides, but in birch sand. I was so pleased to find that these two accessories are in a very similar tone and work together beautifully.
In fact, that leather tote is definitely one of my absolute favorite purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The interior is spacious, but also has ample pockets for organization. The leather is soft and supple, but also structured. And it has a full zipper top, a removeable long strap, a flat base and protective metal feet.

Finally, I wanted to mentioned that my belt was recently supplied by B-Low the Belt, and it fits true to size for a true waist belt, but you would want to size up if you’re wearing it lower. I’m wearing a medium for a perfect fit with these jeans. I also got a similar belt in black and both are beautiful. They have so many great styles to choose from.

Thanks so much for dropping in today. You’ll definitely continue to see summer styles here on Fridays when I share my real life outfits. But since we’re moving towards fall I’ll also be focusing more and more on options we can wear now and wear later. Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day
It’s not really important if you know who I am. Sure, if you’re going to stop in here occasionally for style advice, you might want to know that I’m trustworthy, that I have always tried to dress stylishly and appropriately for the occasion, that I research things meticulously and that I’m a professional writer. But you don’t necessarily need to know me personally. You don’t have to have a relationship with me in order to enjoy this platform.
On the other hand, if we’re planning to join God in heaven and live with Him eternally, it is of utmost importance that we know who Jesus is. Understanding that Jesus is God, that He is the Son of the living God, the promised Christ and the only Savior is crucial to our relationship with God. And of course there are even more ways I could describe Jesus, who He is and what He has done for us. We learn these things as we spend time reading and studying the Bible. Sister, you don’t have to know much about me. But I urge you to get to know Jesus. It’s a life and death matter.
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” ~ Matthew 16:15-16
I enjoyed BFMD today. The reddish blouse looks so nice on you.
Love to start my day with you! Coffee, fashion and a devotional that speaks to my spirit and reminds me of what is really important!
I like the tops and jeans! They all look so nice on you! I want to say I like your hair too 😊. Thank you for doing the Blessed For My Day, it’s so encouraging and something we all need!
Kay what’s the heel height on Vince birch dress sandal? Can’t find anywhere. Thanks
I would say they are just short of two inches.
Love that Sandra top in maroon on you! I like the texture of it, and would get it in the rust color if not for those flutter shoulders. I already have quite broad shoulders. Details like that make me look like a linebacker! LOL! 🙂 Love the VB tote, but it is out of my budget. I also noticed something recently – you often combine fine jewelry with vermeil. Today, your necklace (fine) and then the earrings (vermeil). And it’s hard to tell which is which until I click through. I think the addition of one or two pieces of fine jewelry makes all the pieces look more classy and polished all around. And it’s far more cost effective than wearing all fine jewelry. So thank you for the great idea, which I plan to use daily!!! 🙂 Great BFMD!
Two fabulous outfits. I particularly like the maroon top and I love your sunglasses and the new belt. It’s great that you will be featuring clothes that will transition from summer to autumn. The more flexibility clothes have the better. I love autumn but I’m not looking forward to the days getting shorter.
I feel I know you from your blog but I am so thankful that I know this Jesus of whom you speak. Thank you for not being ashamed to speak of Him.
I loved this post. The tops are very pretty on you and I am very interested in these jeans. Thank you.
Loved this post Kay! Yes we must get to know Jesus who died for us and wants to be our counselor , guide, very present help in times of trouble and just everyday things. He loves to forgive us and clean us up. Happy is the one who trusts in the Lord!
Liked your post today. Cute outfits. Also, that you have mentioned to all the readers they must know Jesus our Savior.
While I admire the tops you modeled today, I question the look on us chestier gals. In following your earlier blogs regarding style vs body proportions, I seem to recall that hourglass figures with full bosom (34DD) the ruffle or flutter sleeve and ruffle front plackets would not be a good option for us. In your opinion, would you say these featured tops would cause us to look even more busty?
I barely fill a B cup, so I definitely can’t answer from experience. But I would surmise that ruffles and texture at the bust would indeed make your bosom look larger.
Hi Kay,
I absolutely love the maroon Avara top with the ecru jeans. That color combo is gorgeous, and not one I recall seeing for summer. Sometimes maroon can read a bit berry and that’s my personal favorite. I followed your advice about sizing up one in bottom half undergarments for white/light colored or lightweight fabrics, and wow, it has made a difference in how my pants fit! I also got a pair of slip shorts in a color close to my flesh tone, and those have been a great option for the lighter colors and fabrics as well. I’ve followed lots of your tips over the years, but this is the first time I’ve specifically tried that one, and it’s a good one! Thanks for being an amazing resource and educator about all things fashion, as well as leading with your kind and humble heart for Jesus.
I don’t want summer to end, but I guess it will and we have to get ready – thanks for giving some good ideas for that direction!
I love the look of the black top with jeans. A little dressy, but not overly so.
