One of the keys to creating the most interesting spring outfits is to add a trending jacket to a great base layer. Sure, you still need to start with well-fitted and stylish pants. And shoes can make or break an outfit. But that trending jacket is the first thing people will notice and it can set you apart from the crowd. Today I’m sharing a trending spring jacket and three ways to style it.

Whereas in past years we were seeing more oversized and longer jackets, such as long utility jackets, this year the trending jackets are shorter, more fitted and a little sportier.

Jackets definitely set the tone and complete the outfit. They’re an important part of a spring wardrobe. But this wardrobe essentials can also be a pricey investment. So I was thrilled when I came upon this Levi’s cotton twill utility jacket and discovered that it is marked down 33%. The jacket fits true to size; I’m wearing a medium.

The jacket comes in five nice colors for spring, including this tan. And most of the options feature the same contrasting brown corduroy collar. Only the light wash denim jacket – uniquely versatile – does not. If the brown collar is not something you desire, I’ve rounded up a few other nice similar options HERE.

But I actually love the contrast of this tan jacket with its brown corduroy color against so many colors and neutrals that we tend to wear in the spring. It looks great with white, black or any shade of blue denim. And underneath you can wear brown, as I’ve done here, or other contrasting colors, such as red, orange or pink. For instance, the green tee below looks nice under the earthy brown.

I’ve shown the jacket here with summery white stretch linen pants because this is a jacket you can definitely carry into summer. Yes, it’s beautifully lined. But I never travel without a jacket of some kind just in case. In fact, you can see a little video here of me wearing this jacket as I traveled to and from Georgia recently. And here’s another video with me wearing the jacket in an outfit similar to the one above. I’ve already worn this jacket so many times.

But before we skip to summer, let’s focus on how to wear this trending spring jacket now. You may be lucky enough to live somewhere that’s quite warm already. But here in Ohio, I’m still wearing full length jeans and even booties many days.

This jacket works beautifully with jeans outfits this spring. And you can probably already see that you will reach for it again frequently in the fall.

Obviously this is not the only trending jacket for spring. We’re still seeing elevated barn jackets, denim jackets and more cropped length utility jackets. But they all seem to have a rather sporty vibe that works nicely with jeans and pants.

Thanks so much for stopping in for a little style inspiration today. I hope you have a great beginning to your week.

Blessed for My Day
Yesterday we celebrated the risen Savior. While many people may have enjoyed Easter as an opportunity to acknowledge the beauty and newness of Spring, many of us know that Resurrection Sunday is much more than that. While Christmas fills me with JOY, Easter reminds me of the HOPE I have because of Jesus.Ā
What is my HOPE? I deserved death because of my sin, but Jesus died for me and rose from the dead, victorious over sin and death. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, I can now live in the freedom of God’s grace, assured of eternity with Him. I do not carry around the weight of guilt. I do not fear the doom of death. And I do not need to feel alone or defeated. That is my HOPE. It’s real and it gives me energy and assurance and peace each and every day. If you have that same hope, let’s share it with others. Every day, not just Easter. With whom can you share your HOPE today?
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answerĀ to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hopeĀ that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. ~ 1 Peter 3:15-16

Thank you for the jacket ideas. Nice sporty completer piece.
You never fail, Kay. Even on posts where I don’t care for the showcased product, I always see or learn something that makes reading the blog worth my time. THANK YOU.
I love that jacket! Thanks for great styling ideas as usual.
Love the jacket. Very versatile and a nice, casual completer piece.
Iāve been looking at this jacket since the first time you posted it. I keep telling myself that I probably donāt need another jacket, but I think Iām now going for it! Iām an autumn gal and love all things tan. Looking back at my purchases, I do believe that Iāve bought most every tan thing (and many others!) youāve worn in the last 3 years! Lol. Keep āem coming!! Happy Easter! He is Risen!!
Happy Easter!
I absolutely love the casual vibe of this jacket! And I am a huge fan of light brown and tan pieces. They go very well with my wardrobe. You always find the best pieces. Thank you!
Great and very versatile jacket. I’ve been wanting a tan denim jacket but this would be a nice alternative.
I’ve seen that jacket styled numerous ways and I know it’s a trend, but it’s just not for me. I think it looks sloppy.
I like the jacket but not with white crops and strappy sandals. It seems too heavy for that. It looks better with the jeans outfit.
I love the picture of you sitting on the stone wall!
This jacket looks like an easy to wear option for casual days. Attractive and practical
I do like that jacket! Happy Easter!
I really like the practicality and versatility of this jacket! I especially like it with denim. We had a little snow this past weekend so we have plenty of jacket weather ahead. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate the way you keep us all up to date on what is trendy. And I do love that shorter more fitted jackets. Thank you Kay!
Kay, I like the shorter proportion of your jacket with wide leg pants and jeans! They look very nice together, and I agree this jacket will look beautiful in the fall as well!
Cute jacket. Would be good for Spring in Illinois.
The only time I wear a jacket now is at church. It’s always cold in there. This spring has been very warm for spring jackets.
I hope you had a wonderful Easter! š£. It was rainy and cold where I live but still enjoyed the day. ! I keep eyeing that jacket. Just havenāt pulled the trigger yet but I really like it. Maybe for Mothers Day! š
I purchased this jacket in the tan color and Iām considering ordering it in the light denim while itās on sale. But I also love the green! I also purchased the green print T-shirt. Thank you for all of your wonderful suggestions for us ladies who are maturing but still want to look modern.
These are some great options for jackets. This is more versatile than I first imagined.
That is a very nice jacket, and as you point out, it will be a great piece to have in the fall as well, which is a bonus! Wishing you a blessed Easter season.
Cute jacket! I love coats and jackets. I have a closet full and we get every kind of weather in Colorado so I go through the rotation. Itās nice to see how someone else styles them. š
Cute jacket! Like all of the ways you styled it. Sounds like a lovely Easter!
I am an equator girl as this is the region where I was born & lived growing up, so I donāt like coats & jackets. Therefore, I keep buying them hoping to find something I love. But I never do! Thanks for keeping us current even with categories of clothes we donāt like!
This jacket looks fabulous with the blue jean trousers! And the brown belt pulls the whole look together. Have a wonderful week!
I have spent two years looking at Utility jackets. I love the look and vibe. Your post showing several ways to wear one beyond the obvious yard work is inspiring me to move forward with a purchase.
