I think it’s safe to say that 2025 has been the Summer of the Dress. Last night I was out to dinner with a dear friend and my husband at a nice restaurant. It was buzzing with people who had just gotten off work and gathered for a wine tasting as well as those who had dinner reservations. And everywhere I looked in this rather large and busy restaurant, women were wearing dresses. In fact, I was so impressed with how lovely the women looked. So today I’m sharing three more beautiful summer dresses for different occasions.

I’m thinking about creating a video for my YouTube channel with essential keys for styling summer dresses. Is it too late for that? Would that topic interest you? Let me know in the comments below. Honestly, we’re in that difficult mid-season space, just before the next season, where it starts getting a little difficult to plan interesting videos that resonate. And I do have some concrete tips for looking stylish in a dress. At any rate, let’s get on with the 3 beautiful summer dresses I’m sharing today from Jude Connally.
3 Dresses Styled for Different Summer Occasions
The Libby dress is one of my favorite silhouettes from Jude Connally. I love the just-below-the-knee length and the tiered skirt. And of course the Libby cloth is always a favorite. It’s cool to the touch, lightweight, has a beautiful drape and moisture-wicking.

Here I’ve styled the Libby dress (c/o) in Garden Gate Loden for a summer lunch with friends. I simply wore my gold sandals and some pretty gold jewelry, keeping the outfit effortless and easy, uncomplicated but so pretty.

My mom was invited to lunch at a dear friend’s home just yesterday. Funny story, my daughter sent me a photo of my mom and her friends at the luncheon yesterday afternoon. She had received the photo from her friend, the granddaughter of the hostess. I imagine my friend, the hostess’s daughter, either took the photo or received it from her mom and then sent it on to her daughter. Later my daughter was on the phone with my mother making arrangements to keep her dog for a few days when she mentioned the photo to her grandmother. “Send me that photo right away,” my mom said to her. Isn’t it funny how technology has changed things? And isn’t the blessing of multi-generational friendship just the sweetest?

The Libby Dress (c/o) fits true to size; I’m wearing my usual medium for a very comfortable fit. It launders beautifully and is perfect for travel, too.

I wore this chic black Bebe Dress (c/o) to the butterfly photo shoot that James and I attended at the Khron Conservatory Monday evening. It ended up being the perfection choice. The butterfly conservatory is kept very warm and humid, mimicking a tropical climate. So after two hours in there, we were pretty warm!

But the Bebe Dress (c/o) is constructed in their lightweight Jude cloth, so it’s moisture-wicking and has that same beautiful drape, but with a matte finish and lighter hand. I was thankful I was wearing a low-maintenance dress that I could deposit right into the washing machine at the end of the evening.

The pictures shown here were taken after the event, so you can see that the Bebe Dress kept me fresh, wrinkle-free and elegant even after two hours of being in a hot house…literally!

The Bebe Dress also comes in a pretty loden green, but I think the black is so chic and effortlessly elegant. I completed the outfit with comfortable gold sandals and very simple jewelry, and carried my Pamela Munson bag (sold out but available in navy). By the way, the website says to size up on those sandals if you wear a half size, which I do. But I sized down for the perfect fit after reading reviews. Definitely size down if you are a half size and maybe even if you wear a full size.

And finally we have the Kallan Dress, an elegant, cotton voile, mid length tunic. This tunic silhouette is so on trend for summer 2025. I’m seeing them in mini, midi and maxi lengths, too. I really doubted I would like the tunic silhouette, but I absolutely LOVED it once I put it on.

Featuring long sleeves (that I’ve cuffed up a bit), a classic point collar (that I turned up in the back) and pockets, this chic dress is perfect for that special occasion out. I would even wear this lightweight, hand printed/hand woven frock to an afternoon wedding, but I’d probably wear heels or dressier flats instead of my casual gold sandals.

Don’t the colors in this exquisite tunic go beautifully with those of the flowers on my front porch? Ha! It’s the little things, sweet friend.
I know that Jude Connally summer dresses are a little pricey. I was gifted these, and I’m so grateful. When brands reach out to me like this I have the opportunity to pass on their styles to you. Right now I do not have a code to offer, but some of the same styles that I showed you here at full price are all available in other colors and patterns ON SALE at deeply discounted prices. For instance, the Kallan Dress above is HALF PRICE in their beautiful Gold Foil Medallion, also perfect for the special occasions. You’ll find other deeply discounted styles in their Sale Section here. They are final sale, but I find them all to fit very nicely true to size. For more of my favorite styles, check out this previous blog post.

Blessed for My Day
Proverbs 21:9 was part of my daily Bible reading this morning. It’s the kind of verse I often just rush past, maybe even thinking to myself, “some women better take notice!” but not considering for a minute that I might be one of those women. Ha! Just keeping it real.
But this morning I made myself slow down with this convicting message. I even looked up the definition of “contentious” and found it refers to a person who likes to pick arguments, who stokes the fire of disagreement and who just can’t let things go for the sake of peace. And then I forced myself to consider this biblical warning, not in light of others, but for myself. “Am I a contentious woman? Maybe even a little bit?” What about you? Are there verses that you allow yourself to skim over because you assume they apply to someone else, but surely not you? Maybe it’s time to revisit one of those. Only when we encourage ourselves to sit for a few minutes in the uncomfortable words of Scripture can we truly reap the benefits of it.
It is better to live in a corner of a roof
Than in a house shared with a contentious woman. ~ Proverbs 21:9
Hi Kay,
Loved this post (as usual). I, too, have noticed so many more women wearing dresses this summer here in the Hilton Head area. I have also worn more dresses lately than ever before, especially when it’s hot and humid. It’s one and done and there are so many beautiful dresses out lately in such beautiful patterns and fabrics. I would LOVE to see a video on key essentials to style a summer dress – we think “one and done” but it’s really more than that, isn’t it? Not a LOT more though or it defeats the purpose!
Thanks for all you do! Thank you also for your Bible reading today – that really hit home – it’s easy to close our eyes and not see what we SHOULD see (sometimes it’s meant for us to see even)!
Linda
Do you have any dress options for a size 3X?
I always enjoy your posts!
I,too , would love to see a video on key essentials to style a summer dress. I live in central Texas and summer is our longest season.
Yes, would love to see the video you mentioned. I always take something new away from them!
These dresses are lovely and look so very nice on you. Since I live in S Texas, it’s always hot and seems like summer – except maybe 6 weeks out of the year. So a summer dress post would be appropriate for me.
Hi Kay! Yes, a video on styling summer dresses would be welcome here too!! Our Tucson heat lasts well into September/October so it’s warm weather dressing foe a while yet. You look fabulous in all 3 styles – thank you so much for all the encouragement and fantastic styling examples. I also love that you share bible verses and personal reflections.
I will be interested to hear more about the “posh picnic”. That sounds like it could be a fun theme! Options for styling summer dresses isn’t too late for me in coastal Florida! There are still plenty in the stores and will be on sale soon as Fall gets closer. Thank you for all the great content!
YES to a post on styling summer dresses. I’d especially like ideas for pieces I can bring along to slip over the dress when I enter air conditioning. My office is so chilly in the summer that I would be comfortable wearing my winter clothing all summer. But if I did that I’d wilt when I walked out the door.
For those of us in climates like the US Midwest, I’d also like a glimpse of what to expect as I transition to fall. I’ve been watching Talbots sales for blouses that I can wear under my jackets this fall/winter. But I would love more ideas.
Love the three dresses you show especially the print
A video showing how to style dresses would be very useful
Love your blogs and videos
Many thanks for the way you present yourself and how you relate to us women
Hi Kay,
Yes, please. Definitely a video on dresses. I know you mentioned we are half way through summer but it certainly doesn’t feel that way. We are sweltering in NJ with no end in site. We still have plenty of summer and heat to go before we stop wearing summer clothes!
Kay, you look lovely in all three dresses. I love side splits in a dress, or skirt, as they feel so nice on movement. I also particularly like the pattern and colours of the Libby dress. A video on styling summer dresses would be very welcome. I hope you enjoyed your posh picnic. It sounds like good fun.
Yes, I would like to see a youtube with ways to style Summer dresses. I ordered the Bebe dress in black and waiting for it to arrive. I thought the picture showed it was a little dressier than you wearing in the blog. Hope it looks as comfortable and classy as I thought it would. Enjoyed the BFMD.
Please make a video on dresses and styling them up and down. In my world, summer doesn’t end until the temperatures drop. That could be well into October here. Love the sandals!!!
I would love to see a video on key essentials to style a summer dress. I have been wearing dresses more this year, and sometimes I think I take the “one and done” idea too literally. Haha!
Thank you for your many suggestions and inspiration.
