Well it’s snowing outside this morning, but one of these days soon we’ll surely be slipping our feet into sandals. Hahaha! And when it’s time to bare those toes I want us to have the sandals that will help complete our looks in fun, fresh ways. So today I’m sharing some of the spring sandal trends for 2022 as well as LOTS of sandals in the Save, Spend and Splurge categories. Let’s talk spring and summer sandals!

2022 Spring & Summer Sandal Trends
You might want to glance back at our earlier Spring and Summer 2022 Footwear Forecast, but there I mentioned just two of the trends we can expect to see in sandals: more Birk-esque sandals and they’re cousins, the fisherman sandals.
In recent years we saw Birkenstocks experience a resurgence in popularity. This year, we’re seeing Birk-like shoes or sandals from other brands. These are generally very casual shoes, but the trend has become to wear them with skirts and dresses as well as jeans and shorts. We’re also seeing this chunky, somewhat comfy shoe in lighter weight materials and fun colors.
The fisherman sandals, which might remind you of the ones you used to put on your small children, are a fairly new trend. So I’m not seeing as many of them yet.
I mean, they’re really a classic sandal. But this (usually) partially closed toe silhouette is definitely wearable and fun, especially with a boho type skirt or casual sundress. Expect to see them in muted and vibrant colors.
Speaking of colors, we’re seeing lots of vibrant, beautiful colors in spring and summer sandals for 2022.
We’ll also continue to see braided straps, puffy straps and thin, strappy straps. Lots of straps! Last year Dolce Vita made a huge splash with these popular braided strap sandals and they’re back again this year in more colors. In fact, Abigail recently purchased and wore them in blue to one of her bridal showers. She got so many compliments.
But this year Dolce Vita is back with some new, fresh iterations on that strappy sandal.
I think both of those are just so elegant and classy.
We’ll see lots of simple sandals with statement embellishments this year, too. Remember in Wednesday’s video I mentioned how we’re seeing pearls everywhere, even on shoes?
And yes, jellies are back. (See above) In fact, we’re seeing lots of different fabrications in sandals this year. I just recommend you opt for something you know will be comfortable and truly wearable for your lifestyle.
In fact, comfort shoes and sporty sandals such as Tevas continue to trend this year.
But we’re also seeing a return of the platform sandals. Well, we’re seeing platform everything, including espadrilles, sneakers, loafers, you name it. But the platform sandals are definitely on trend and readily available.
Of course there are lots of pretty heeled options, too. Again, we’re seeing lots of straps and pretty colors. And this year we can expect some interesting shapes in the heels and a continued appearance of the squared off toe. Don’t be afraid to add a heeled sandal in a pretty color to your wardrobe. They’re great to wear with white pants or jeans, dresses or skirts.
Style Tip: If you, like me, have thick ankles, you may want to steer clear of sandals with ankle straps unless they are in a color near your skin color. A strap across a wide ankle will only accentuate the width. Of course, if you’re planning to wear those sandals mostly with pants, that strap won’t be a problem.
But if you prefer to steer clear of the pretty colors, you can still look oh so stylish in your sandals this spring and summer. In fact, I think there’s just no substitute for a pair of classic cognac or other brown sandals.
In fact, there is no sandal you’ll get more mileage out of than a pretty nude colored sandal. Whether it’s strappy or woven and textured, a nude sandal is versatile and elegant. And it elongates and slenderizes your legs, too.
You can wear sandals with absolutely anything and everything this spring and summer. I like to have a pair in a versatile nude and/or brown. But I also love having a colorful pair of sandals or some metallics to add a little interest to my outfits. Here are a few of my favorites.
Shop Spring and Summer Sandals
I’ve culled through hundreds of sandals to find some in a variety of pricepoints. I’ve categorized them into Save, Spend and Splurge categories. I realize that everyone’s thresholds for those groupings may be a little different, but I had to set the parameters somewhere. Many of the Save sandals are indeed great buys and well under the $75 limit. Likewise, some of the Spend sandals were on sale when I listed them, so they may have actually creeped back into the Splurge category when you read this post. But hopefully there is something beautiful and functional for all of us here.

Fear is never our friend. Sometimes we make decisions out of fear. But fear and anxiety cause us to make faulty decisions. The Bible tells us that God never gives a spirit of fear. He operates through a spirit of love and soundness of mind. So if we allow fear to dictate our path, we are actually allowing the enemy of our souls to rule our decisions.
Today when fear begins to compel you to turn to the left or the right, take that fear to God. Ask Him to unwrap it for you, exposing the lies that have fed it. Ask Him to give you soundness of mind concerning the decision you must make or the path He has called you to walk. And trust that, in His love, He will walk you safely through the best course of action.
Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. ~ Luke 22:1-2
