What to Wear to a Christmas Gift Exchange Party

Will you be attending a Christmas gift exchange party this year? You know the kind, right? Maybe your book club exchanges bookmarks. Maybe you’re in a supper group and you’re exchanging dish towels. I’ve also been to parties where we swapped socks, tree ornaments, scarves, nail polish, white elephant gifts, and the list goes on. I’ll be attending a cookie exchange in a couple of weeks and I think I’ll take these cookies I shared in this Christmas post last year. I don’t know what you’ll be taking to your party, but I have a great suggestion for what you might wear to a gift exchange party. And it’s all reduced at least 30% right now.

What to Wear to a Christmas Gift Exchange Party

Don’t you just love this red and black combo with my snazzy Christmas plaid Quinn pants? These oh-so-comfy slim-leg ankle-length pants are marked down $20 just for Thanksgiving week, plus you get to take another 30% off with code 30GIVE. Now that’s a deal!

Quinn plaid pants

My size 8 pants fit me true to size. The 55% cotton, 41% rayon and 4% spandex woven pants have just the right amount of stretch in them to keep them comfortable, but not so much as to loose their shape with wear. You can machine wash them, but then let them air dry. I love the ankle length with my snazzy gold flats, but I think you could comfortably wear them with either knee high riding boots or black booties.

By the way, my flats are from last year, but these at Talbots are similar. And you can get them right now 40% off. (Or if you have and use a Talbots credit card, you can get them 50% right now!)

Black Shirttail Tee

There are so many ways you could wear these plaid ankle pants, but I chose to keep the look chic and simple with a black shirttail tee. This Pure Jill tee is 95% cotton and 5% spandex for a soft, easy-to-wear combination. You could also pair the pants with this cream textured cowl-neck sweater or this plush-sleeve sweater in black or barley. Don’t forget to use code 30GIVE for 30% off any of these, too.

red puffer jacket

Because baby-it’s-cold-outside, I topped the outfit with my red puffer jacket. J.Jill has this one that’s a little longer. (Use code 30GIVE for 30% off) Or you might prefer one similar to mine at Talbots. But this one has a removable faux fur collar, too! #sochic! (And Talbots credit cardholders can get 50% off one item and 40% off everything else right now.)

What to Wear to a Christmas Gift Exchange Party

Because I was feeling oh-so-festive, I added this black felt cloche from Target. Yes, you can wear this darling hat, too. If I can, you can. You just have to put it on, wear it with confidence and get used to it. I styled mine by pulling my hair away from my face and behind my ears and then plopping it straight down on my head. Gals, put your hats on straight down on your head! Don’t wear them like bonnets on the back of your head. Okay, I’ll get off my soap box now…

I kept my jewelry simple with a gold layering necklace (no longer available), a simple gold bangle and these classic sparkle stud earrings by Kate Spade. The earrings come in several different gems and would make a great gift, too.

(Oh, and I apologize for that hair on the chest of my tee. Yikes! I ask James to watch for these things, but, you know… #heisaman)

Michael Kors Satchel

I recently picked up this classic black satchel on the Michael Kors site where it’s marked down well over 50%. At the time they were offering an extra 25% off to KorsVIP members. If you’re at all interested in Michael Kors bags or other items, join KorsVIP for free. They consistently give VIP members an extra 25%, and shipping is always free for VIP, too. My Mercer Gallery Medium Leather Satchel is still available, by the way. And it also comes in other great colors. I purchased it because I needed a dressier and more structured bag than my other black one. And I know this timeless bag will serve me well for years.

What to Take to a Christmas Gift Exchange Party

Guess what? If you’re looking for a gift to take to your Christmas gift exchange party, J.Jill’s got you covered! I picked up this sweet pave mixed-metal star ornament there. And yes, it’s 30% off, too, with code 30GIVE. There’s also a darling heart ornament and a snowflake. And be sure to check out J.Jill’s accessories for other great gift ideas. I love their jewelry and scarves especially.

What to Wear to a Christmas Gift Exchange Party

I think this outfit is so fun and perfect to wear to a Christmas gift exchange party. But check out the other pretty things at J.Jill, too. Right now, many of their holiday pieces are already marked down and you get to take the 30% off with code 30GIVE…but only through Wednesday, so hurry! And yes, J.Jill credit cardholders still get another 5% off on top of all that!

Blessed for My Day

I love my work. But sometimes I grow weary of the tedious tasks of my job. You might be surprised at how much goes into preparing a simple post like this. But that’s beside the point. We all have tedious tasks to perform, don’t we?

Today let’s thank God for even the mundane, everyday tasks we’ve been assigned. There’s value in those little jobs, gals. Especially when we commit to doing our best, unto the Lord, we can find a great sense of purpose in doing the work He has assigned up. Plus, having work is a blessing in itself. Instead of griping or complaining or whining, let’s choose to thank God for tedium and the minutia.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. ~ Colossians 3:17

Spread the love

  1. Good morning Kay! This outfit has such pretty colors in it. If you are in need of anything Christmas, Hobby Lobby has all of it at 50% off now. There selection is phenomenal! Good luck with your lower back pain! What I thought was a bad knee has turned into possible scoliosis and a definite uneven pelvis, which is causing all of the pain. Well, I do have some arthritis in my left knee now. But, I am still able to be out and about to enjoy this beautiful time of year. Have a blessed day!

    1. Oh my! Thanks for the heads up on Hobby Lobby. I’m keeping decorating to a minimum this year. but I know I’ll do some. Have a great Thanksgiving!

      1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! When our granddaughter was born 20 years ago, I started buying her a Christmas ornament every year. Even though she’s away at college, she still puts up a tree in her room so that she can put all of the ornaments from me on it. I try to buy one that represents something going on in her life that year. Hobby Lobby is my go to place to find her ornaments.

  2. A perfect look for the occasion! And loving that red vest! Such a beautiful shade of red!
Hoping your back improves. Whenever I have back ache or shoulder pain I look up yoga poses on youtube for the specific area of pain, and doing those stretches usually helps me. But it’s not for everyone so be sure to be careful if you do decide to try some yoga stretches.

  3. Very festive Kay!!!! The hat is so classic and can be worn with many outfits. I have been wearing hats for twenty plus years….all different styles. You look beautiful . ~Lisa~
