Happy Monday! Can you believe it’s already the third day of October? Wowsa! Well, I love October, so here’s to a chill in the air, all things pumpkin and colorful leaves! Today I’m running through the outfits I wore last week to LTKCon. We’re actually flying home from Texas today, but I’m undoubtedly wearing the same travel pants you’ll see below. And indeed I wore pretty much everything I packed in my suitcase.

What I Wore to LTKCon

LTKCon is a by-invitation-only conference for influencers who work through LTK to post affiliate links for shopping in their content. So there were women (and a handful of men) there who predominantly post on Instagram and TikTok, as well as many who have blogs (like this one) and a smaller number who have YouTube channels. I was so excited for the opportunity to finally meet up #IRL (in real life) with some of the influencers that I (and probably you) have been following for several years now. And those ladies did not disappoint. In fact, I came away so impressed and inspired. And it felt so good to be around other women who do what I do.

James accompanied me to Texas because we have family and friends there that he wanted to visit during the conference and then together afterwards. We had a full day of travel Sunday because we had to be diverted to Tulsa, Oklahoma, just as we were supposed to land in Dallas. I was glad I had worn my ankle length travel pants and my comfortable silk blend polo top (no longer available).

The next morning I worked a bit in the hotel room and then James and I found a place near the hotel for lunch. The conference was at the Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas, and it was just lovely. It was warm in Dallas, of course, so I just dressed in my grey Mother jeans and the same ribbed polo I’d worn the day before. I knew I would change once we got back from lunch before registration.

But, as you can see in the photo above, when I got back to the hotel from lunch, I immediately started running into other influencers I had anticipated meeting. Above I’m with Kelli and Christina of Mommies Makeup and Moscato, as well as Lisa from LisaLisaD1, all on YouTube. If you’re not already following these ladies on YouTube I definitely suggest you check them out. They are as beautiful, genuinely gracious and smart in real life as they appear on their channels.

The photo above will have to suffice as my outfit photo for this look since I somehow I failed to take any outfit photos that day. After chatting with these ladies for a few minutes, I rushed up to my room to fresh up a bit before registering. I changed into my grey and white stripe tank, my camel slides and my camel blazer (more economical option).

Again I forgot to take a mirror selfie, so I’m showing the photo I took with Stylish Sandy and So Susie Wright. These are two over 50 bloggers you definitely need to follow. Susie was and Sandy still is a Nordstrom Stylist, and these ladies know their stuff. But they’re also extremely down to earth and so smart.

We had meet and greet cocktail hour that evening and the theme was Texas chic. But I’m just not into Texas chic. I lived in Texas for about 15 years, and I guess I’m just over it. So I wore my black J.McLaughlin pants and my zebra print top. It turned out that it was mostly the younger influencers who dressed according to theme each night. The older set stayed in their lanes and wore the fashions they love and prefer.

I sized up to a large in the J.McLaughlin pants, but they do fit pretty large on me. So you might could go with your true size. And I have my true size medium in the zebra print top. This was the longest I’d worn my Sarah Flint Perfect Pumps 85 and I’m pleased to say that they were so comfortable that I opted to wear them all day a couple of days later. Use the Sarah Flint size helps to figure your size. And use code SARAHFLINT-BAKAYH for $50 off your first purchase.

The next morning we had keynote speeches and panels followed by a luncheon sponsored by DSW. I wanted to be comfortable but also look sharp. I wore my brown Eileen Fisher slim knit pants topped with my mod rose button up shirt. I completed the outfit with my blue flat mules.

But after freezing all morning I returned to my room to get my camel blazer. I hadn’t even considered wearing this camel blazer with this outfit, but it worked splendidly. In fact, I think I ended up wearing it every day because the hotel was so cool. I was so glad I had brought this one.

That evening we had another cocktail party and then I went to dinner with a group of new friends. I can’t tell you how much good it did my soul to be around these amazing women. Everyone was so gracious and generous. Anyhow, somehow I completely missed getting a photo of that evening’s outfit. I wore this novelty print dress and these pumps. I really liked that outfit, too, so I’m bummed that I missed photographing it.

The next day I wore my black jeans and novelty print button up shirt with my camel blazer to sessions and brand meetings. The camel blazer worked really nicely with this predominantly black outfit because the print button up shirt has just a bit of that same color in it.

By the end of two days of sessions and meetings with brands (such as Wayfair, HSN, Tarte, Spanx and Colleen Rothschild), I was plum exhausted. We still had the awards ceremony and a big party slated for the evening. But I and several other over 40 influencers decided to call it an early night after the awards ceremony. Here I am on the red carpet going into the awards ceremony.

Of course many of the women dressed up much more than I did for this evening. There was a sea of sequins, beads and frothy fabrics. But I hadn’t had much of a chance to wear this beautiful silk dress and wanted to take it for a spin on this evening. It felt perfectly lovely and appropriate for the festivities.

The next day James and I slept in a bit before heading to Abilene to visit with his family. I again put on my black travel pants and this time my pink silk ribbed top. I added this black jacket from Athleta and wore my sneakers again.

Well, that’s a wrap. The next two days I laid pretty low because I was so exhausted. And today as we travel I’m back in those travel pants. Ha! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much for stopping in to see what I wore to LTKCon.

Blessed for My Day

Believers here in the United States have rarely undergone true persecution for our faith. Sure, many of us have felt the sting of being misunderstood or sold short. Or we’ve known the isolation that comes with being left out because of our beliefs. But few of us have really been reviled or had threats uttered against us. But mark my word, the day is coming.

As our world – not just our country – becomes more and more polarized we can expect to face some true persecution for our faith in Jesus Christ and our allegiance to His Word. And it won’t feel good. And the temptation may be to buckle under the pressure. But let’s commit today to persevere in our faith. And let’s remember Jesus’ admonition to rejoice and be glad in the midst of such hardship because our reward for such persecution is in heaven.

Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. ~ Matthew 5:11-12

xoxo, Kay

  1. Hello from Abilene! I’m sure I would have done a “double take” if I would have spotted you and James somewhere around town! We’ve had such lovely weather lately…hope you enjoyed your visit! I enjoy your blog and content so much. Thank you for what you do to help us become more like Jesus inside and out!

    1. We did have beautiful weather. And it was good to be back there. We had coffee at Moose Mountain, and it was such a nice atmosphere. Otherwise we were mostly with family or in the hotel.

  2. Kay, I so appreciated you bringing us along for your trip, and I am truly glad you found some commraderie and refreshing! But oh, sister! That BFMD is true, timely, and encouraging! The disciples counted it an HONOR to suffer for the sake of Christ…. how far we are from such mindsets! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being fearless in your faith, and lovely in your fashion!

  3. This BFMD is so on point. In this crazy mixed up world right now, we as Christians have to stand fast and together. We are all ready being persecuted, but know it
will only get worse. We need to stand up and have faith.
Sounds like you had fun in Texas with the conference and met so many beautiful women. Said you lived there for 15 years. We and our children and their families were there in
July of 2019. Glad we to visit there, we had fun and loved it there. It was hot, but we would head for the beach. Loved the beach most of all. Told my husband we could live in a camper on the beach. ha ha Were in Dallas area, Galveston and Corpus Christi.
Wish could have seen more of your outfits with pictures of you wearing them. I will have to check out the references in type.
Will also have to check out Stylish Sandy and So Suzy Wright. Have a safe trip home and blessed day.

  4. Hello, new subscriber here. Thank you for this lovely post. I’ve followed Susie Wright for a year or so and I’m now excited to follow you. Your J McLaughlin pieces are spot on, they’re one of my favorite brands but I haven’t come across many bloggers who highlight their line. But most importantly, thank you for your BFMD, it warmed my soul. So glad I found you, we’re going to get along wonderfully : )

    1. Wonderful! Thanks so much for saying hello, Katherine. I’m glad you like what you see and enjoyed the blessing. Welcome aboard!

  5. I hope that your travels today will be very smooth. I am so happy that James was able to join you on this trip and that y’all got to see some of his family. Kay, I really like everything that you wore for the conference, and you look fabulous in what you wore to the award’s banquet.

  6. Thank you for sharing your experience in Dallas. I also like the “mommies” YouTube videos along with yours. I lived in Dallas for 34 years and recently moved to Northern Michigan. I am enjoining the seasonal changes and you help me get my colder weather wardrobe established.
    Thank you for your BFMD!

  7. Kay,
You look wonderful in your outfits. It’s great that your husband was with you and could visit family.
Glad you wore the Sophia dress with its colors that look so flattering on you. It’s a little retro yet fresh and fun.

BFMD speaks volumes of life today.

    Thanks for the post.

  8. Hi Kay. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, probably better known as Mormons. When you talk of religious persecution I remember learning how in 1838 Governor Boggs of Missouri signed an extermination order to kill on sight all Mormons in that state. Mormons were tarred and feathered, forced out of their homes while mobs burned them to the ground and many were murdered. I am grateful this kind of persecution is not common today.
